DRAGON AWARDS
Dragon Awards winners for the week of January 11 at Jefferson Elementary School

AUTHOR SPEAKS AT BENTON
Author Michael Finklea recently visited Benton Elementary school. Finklea talked to
students about his struggle with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and how he was
determined to fulfill his goal to be a writer. Students learned what its like to be an
author and also how important it is to keep working toward goals.

EJMS holds spelling bee
EAST JACKSON Middle
School recently held a
school-wide spelling bee.
Eighteen students, represent
ing each language arts class,
competed in the bee.
Those 18 students were:
Savannah Craven, Chris
Saavedra, Elizabeth Kim,
Tyler Hutto and Justin Akin,
eighth grade: Mez McGee,
Hayley Griffith, Bayleigh
Marlow, Ivy Wheeler, Sarah
Moon, Cole Canup and
Kayla Banks, seventh grade;
and Zac Waldrip, Blain
Dorsey, Blake Kennedy,
Sage Jenkins, Ryan Green
and Marilena Congi, sixth
grade.
Blake Kennedy won the
EJMS spelling bee and will
advance to the countywide
spelling bee. The EJMS
spelling bee alternate is Chris
Saavedra.
