its “Grand Old Gospel Fourth
Friday Night Jubilee” on

event is intended to be all gos
pel and acoustic instruments.
There will be food and fel
lowship. Everyone may bring
a dessert or covered dish, but
it isn't necessary. There will
be no admission charge and
the food is free. “All pickers,
singers and folks who enjoy
good string gospel music are
invited to attend,” leaders

Tabor’s Chapel Church,

history program, a tribute to
the late Jennie V. Williams
and Ruth H. Beasley on
Sunday, February 14, at 2:30
p.m. “Mrs. Jennie V. Williams
was a devoted mother, faithful
church worker, and a pillar of
the community. Her wisdom,
knowledge, humor, and dedi
cation to service influenced the
lives of many people,” leaders
state. In an effort to acknowl
edge and continue her legacy,
a scholarship fund has been
established in her name. The
scholarship is available to any
student attending college or
having a letter of acceptance
to attend college, regardless
of race, color, gender or reli
gion. Donations to the schol
arship fund should be made
payable to the Mrs. Jennie V.
Williams Scholarship Fund.
Ruth H. Beasley served the
community diligently for
many years. Her accomplish
ments include: a teacher in
the Madison County School
District for thirty-one years,
a member of the Madison
County Association of
Educators, a member of the
Tabor’s Chapel CME Church
where she served as president
of the Stewardess Board, sec
retary of Sunday School and
president of the Mrs. Jennie
V. Williams Scholarship fund.
Everyone is encouraged to
dress old-fashioned and enjoy
an old-fashioned meal.
Commerce First United
Methodist Church will hold
the following youth events:
The youth winter retreat
will be held Friday through
Sunday, February 26 - 28.
Youth will be staying at the
Loose Moose at Pigeon Forge;
Everyone is asked to continue
to be in prayer for the weekend
of Bible study, fun and fellow
ship. Each person attending is
asked to pay $100, unless
there are 2 or more youth in
a family, then the cost is $75
per person. Money may be
turned in up until the day of
the retreat. “Please do not let
the money prevent you from
going. If that is a concern,
just talk to K. Ellen Hagen,”
leaders state; and there will
be upcoming details regard
ing the 2nd annual “Hoops
of Hope.” There will also be
a family night supper. All
money raised will be sent
to “Hoops of Hope.” The
