hold two events for “Souper
Bowl Sunday,” February 7.
They will collect an offering
at worship services for the
Our Daily Bread program in
Athens. They will also watch
the Super Bowl at the home
of Jeff Pratt at 6 p.m. Families
of the youths are asked to
provide some “football/tail
gate” food like wings, pizza or
breadsticks for the occasion,
said Spencer Arnold, youth
minister.

Methodist Episcopal Church
youth will hold a youth pro
gram on Sunday, February 14,
at 3 p.m. The guest speak
er will be the Rev. Jeremie
Studivant, youth minister at
Zion Covenant Fellowship

Tabor’s Chapel Church,
Ila, will hold its annual black
history program, a tribute to
the late Jennie V. Williams
and Ruth H. Beasley on
Sunday, February 14, at 2:30
p.m. “Mrs. Jennie V. Williams
was a devoted mother, faithful
church worker, and a pillar of
the community. Her wisdom,
knowledge, humor, and dedi
cation to service influenced the
lives of many people,” leaders
state. In an effort to acknowl
edge and continue her legacy,
a scholarship fund has been
established in her name. The
scholarship is available to any
student attending college or
having a letter of acceptance
to attend college, regardless of
race, color, gender or religion.
Donations to the scholarship
fund should be made payable
to the Mrs. Jennie V. Williams
Scholarship Fund. Ruth H.
Beasley served the community
diligently for many years. Her
accomplishments include: a
teacher in the Madison County
School District for thirty-
one years, a member of the
Madison County Association
of Educators, a member of the
Tabor's Chapel CME Church
where she served as president
of the Stewardess Board, sec
retary of Sunday School and
president of the Mrs. Jennie
V. Williams Scholarship fund.
Everyone is encouraged to
dress old-fashioned and enjoy
an old-fashioned meal.
Commerce First United
Methodist Church will hold
the following youth events:
The youth winter retreat will
be held Friday through Sunday,
February 26 - 28. Youth will
be staying at the Loose Moose
at Pigeon Forge; Everyone
is asked to continue to be
in prayer for the weekend of
Bible study, fun and fellow
ship. Each person attending
is asked to pay $100, unless
there are 2 or more youth in
a family, then the cost is $75
per person. Money may be
turned in up until the day of
the retreat. “Please do not let
the money prevent you from
going. If that is a concern,
just talk to K. Ellen Hagen,”
leaders state; and there will be
upcoming details regarding the
2nd annual “Hoops of Hope.”
There will also be a family
night supper. All money raised
will be sent to “Hoops of
Hope.” The church is located

Commerce First United
Methodist Church Saints
Alive group is for people age
50 and over. The group has
two upcoming events. For
the first event the group will
be going to see the Savannah
River production of “Driving
Miss Daisy” at the Commerce
Cultural Center on Sunday,
March 14. Group tickets are
$12 each. To sign up no later
than Sunday, February 7, call

Sunday, March 21, the group
will sponsor a church-wide
trip to see the “Passion Play”
at the Atlanta Civic Center.
The group will leave from
the church's Fellowship Hall
