Bradshaw, 74, died Tuesday,
January 19, 2010.
Born in Monroe, he was the
son of the late Willie and Esmer
Phillips Bradshaw. He was a
member of Hickory Grove Baptist
Church and was retired from
Harrison Poultry. Mr. Bradshaw
was preceded in death by his wife,
Josie Rowe Bradshaw; daughters,
Vickie Waters, Christy Rowe;
brothers, Arvie Lee and Dupree
Bradshaw; and sisters, Willie Lou
Martin and Shirley Smith.
Survivors include sons and
daughters-in-law, William and
Judy Bradshaw, Bethlehem,

Blake Breitenhirt Jr., 78, died
Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at
his residence.
Born May 19,1931, in Kanawha
County, W. Va., he was the son
of the late B. Blake Breitenhirt
Sr. and Thelma King Breitenhirt.
He was a retired minister of the
Presbyterian Church (USA). He
had resided in St. Simons for
the past 10 years, was a gradu
ate of Greenbank High School,
Greenbank, W. Va., King College
of Bristol, Tenn., and Union
Theological Seminary, Richmond,
Va. He was a member of the
Savannah Presbytery and attended
St. Simons Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Breitenhirt was preceded in
death by his wife, Jean Lunsford
Breitenhirt.
Survivors include daughters
and son-in-law, Catherine S.
Breitenhirt, Macon, Elizabeth
Breitenhirt and Timothy Breslin,

‘Ted’Bruce
WINDER - Theodore R. "Ted"
Bruce, 93, died Tuesday, January
19, 2010.
A native of Jackson County,
he was the son of the late Bill
Bruce, and was
preceded in death
by Lottie M.
Banks Bruce, his first wife, after
46 years of marriage. He served
in the United States Army during
World War II, in the European
Theatre of Operations, as a for
ward artillery observer, and was
awarded a combat rifleman badge.
Prior to retirement, he served in
management with Coastal States
Life Insurance Company. He was
a member of The Winder First
Christian Church, and attended
Northside Presbyterian Church
for the past 25 years. He was a
member of the Winder V. F. W.
Survivors include his wife,
Hazel Cook Bruce, Winder; chil
dren, Ann Bruce Doster, Blue
Ridge, Ted W. Bruce, Marietta,
and G. Kevin Bruce, Richmond,
Va.; stepchildren, Catherine Cook
Bray, John Cook, Jr., Judy Cook
Bender and Wanda Cook Davis, all

HOMER - Jonnie Lee Emmett
Dalton, 91, died Tuesday, January
19, 2010, at a private care facility
following an extended illness.
Born on March 11, 1918, in
Banks County, she was the daugh
ter of the late John and Ruby
Guest Emmett. She was a mem
ber of the Line Baptist Church,
where she served as church clerk
for many years, a member of the
Banks County A ARP, and was
a retired school teacher having
taught faithfully and proudly for
the Banks County School System
for over 30 years. Mrs. Dalton was
preceded in death by her husband,
Cranford Dalton; a son, Jerry
Dalton; daughter, Carol Dalton;
sisters, June Chesser, Betty
Wester, Gladys Westmoreland and
Loutrelle Kesler; and brothers,
George Giles, Wilton, and Baxter
Emmett.
Survivors include a daugh
ter and son-in-law, Laurell and
Howard Ward, Homer; sisters,
Novella Simmons, Baldwin, Bea

‘Peggy” Hayes
HOSCHTON - Marion Skinner
“Peggy" Hayes, Hoschton, died
Sunday, January 24, 2010, at
Northeast Georgia Medical Center
following an extended illness.
She was a member of Walnut
Fork Baptist Church where she
served in Sunday School, VBS
and Missions for many years.
Mrs. Hayes, affectionately known
among her family as "Gran" and
her friends as “Miss Peggy," was
born April 29, 1929, to the late
Robert Ginn and Annie Adams
Skinner of Barrow County. She
was a wonderful wife, mother,
Gran and friend. Her love of
her family and her cooking and
baking for her family and friends
brought her much joy. Many
Christmases she would make over
50 huge pieces of her famous pea
nut brittle and each was given to a
special person in her life. In her
years of good health, she had the
reputation as one of the best cooks
in Jackson County.
In the 70s, Peggy was a top
salesperson at Belk’s of Lakeshore
Mall where her customers in
the children’s department felt a
special love for her and she for
them. Mrs. Hayes will always be
remembered for the loving, giving
and caring person who she was.
She was preceded in death by
her husband of 57 years, Mark
Hayes and her great-grand
daughter Elsie Conde. Survivors
include a sister, Jackie Foster,
Winder; her children and six in
laws, Kenton and Debbie Hayes,
Tallulah Falls, Claire and Elton
Maddox, Gainesville, Lemuel
and Cheryl Hayes, Wendell and
Patty Hayes, Jim Hayes, all of
Hoschton, Rexine Hayes Howard,
Calhoun; eight grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; special
friend, Bessie Lynn; and a host of
nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held
at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 28,
in the chapel of Evans Funeral
Home. The family will receive
friends at the funeral home from 5
to 7 p.m. prior to the service.

Isaiah Martin, 5-month-old son of

Isaiah was a happy baby who
was full of
life, and
brought joy
to all who
knew him.
Although his
life was short
lived, Isaiah
touched
the lives of
many people.
He was just
learning to
roll over and beginning to learn to
laugh out loud. He loved to smile
and laugh at his sister, who had
a ball making him laugh. Isaiah
was preceded in death by great-

B. Trammell.

Elizabeth Turner
LULA - Elizabeth Ward
Turner, 73, of the Rock Springs
Community, died Tuesday, January
19, 2010, at the Northeast Georgia
Medical Center in Gainesville.
Born on August 10, 1936, in
Morgan County, she was the
daughter of the late George Glenn
Ward Sr. and Lonnie Gowder
Ward. She attended the Hickory
Flat United Methodist Church.
She was an avid gardener who
loved to share her vegetables and
flowers, was an avid traveler and
shopper and loved cooking, music
and reading her Bible. She loved
her family and grandchildren and
"social time” with all of her family,
friends and extended family, loved
ones stated. Mrs. Turner was pre
ceded in death by brothers, Roy

Funeral services were held
Friday, January 22, at the Rock
Springs Baptist Church with the
Revs. Jerry Cameron, George
Tuggle and Pastor Blaine Tarnecki
officiating. Burial was in the
church cemetery.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South
Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of
arrangements.

"Dot” Bond Wood, 71, died Friday,
January 22,
2010.
She was
the daughter
of the late
Dr. Dewitt

and Elise
Quattlebaum
Bond of
Danielsville.
She was a
beloved class
mate of the first graduating class
of Madison County High School
in 1956, where she met and mar
ried her husband of 51 years John
H. “Jay" Wood Jr. She partici
pated in sports, 4-H and many
other clubs during and after high
school years. Her years of work
included the Bank of Danielsville,
Merrill Lynch and the Continuing
Education Center at the University
of Georgia. She spent most of her
life being a loving mother, home
maker and caregiver to her family
and extended family. She loved
to travel and talked often about
her favorite trips to Alaska and
Maine. She also enjoyed collect
ing antiques and specialty items
with Jay. She was a lifetime mem
ber of the Danielsville United
Methodist Church.

Carol; grandchildren, Wyatt,
Dewitt and Jenna, Randy Wood,

Danielsville United Methodist
Church, 275 General Daniel Ave.
N., with the Rev. Calvin Ward offi
ciating. Burial was at Danielsville
Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers
were George Elrod, Pat Graham,
Phil Jones, Allan Parham, Larry
Pierce and Charles Temple.

Joseph Worsham Sr.
BRASELTON - Joseph
Worsham Sr., 84, formerly of
Forest Park, died Monday, January
18,2010.
He was employed for over 30
years for the Fulton County Board
of Education and was a veteran of
the United States Navy, having
served in World War II. He was
instrumental in
the development
of the Forest Park
Police and Fire
Departments. He
loved Nascar and
his hobby, CB Radio, loved ones
stated. Mr. Worsham was preced
ed in death by his wife, Dorothy
Pittman Worsham.
Survivors include a daughter,
Joray (Gary) Lockridge, Braselton;
son, Joseph Worsham Jr., Forest
Park; stepdaughter, Sherrill (Don)
McDaniel, Jackson; eight grand
children; 20 great-grandchildren;
and other family, friends and CB
buddies.
Funeral services were held
Thursday, January 21, from Ward’s
Parkway Chapel with the Rev.
Mike Smith officiating. Burial
was at Westminster Memorial
Gardens in Peachtree City.
