and injuring three store employees.

A HOMETOWN pharmacy
that was damaged when a car
smashed through its store on
Friday is planning to rebuild
and continue providing for its
patients.
A 2004 Toyota Avalon
crashed through the West
Jackson Medicine Center in
Hoschton on Friday afternoon
— causing extensive damage
to the Ga. Hwy. 53 build
ing and injuring three store
employees.
The Georgia State Patrol
said Betty Jordan, Hoschton,
was behind the wheel of the
vehicle, but didn't have a
cause for the accident avail
able on Tuesday. Troopers
said Jordan had visible inju
ries.
The driver isn’t related to
Tracy Jordan, pharmacist
and owner of West Jackson
Medicine Center.
A few days after the acci
dent, Jordan and her staff were
busy fdling prescriptions and
taking customer orders again.
“We had to be open and
take care of our patients,”
Jordan said. “Healthcare
doesn’t take a break because
of an accident.”
Hours after Friday’s wreck,
the pharmacy was secured
and sealed off before an
insurance company removed
large debris on Saturday. On
Sunday, employees worked
to clean the store and orga
nize merchandise, Jordan
said. West Jackson Medicine
Center reopened on Monday.
“We’re limping through,”
Jordan said on a busy Tuesday
morning.
Of the three store employ
ees injured in the wreck, one
remains hospitalized. That
employee is office manag
er Sylvia Jordan — Tracy
Jordan’s mother — who is
recovering from fractured
ribs and a collapsed lung at
Athens Regional Medical
Center.
One employee was taken
to Northeast Georgia Medical
Center, while another phar
macist was taken to Athens
Regional, according to Tracy
Jordan. Both were released
from the hospitals several
hours after the accident.
“Blessedly, there was not a
single customer in the store,”
Jordan said. “There had been
(customers) just a few min
utes prior to that. By the
grace of God, I did not have
a room full of patients and
children at my candy counter,
because we could have had
extreme fatalities. All of my
merchandise, all my damaged
structures and fixtures can be
replaced. I could not have
replaced a person.”
She thanked the communi
ty for its support and prayers
after the accident.
“Everyone has rallied and
shown ... what a fabulous
bunch of people that live here,”
Jordan said through tears.
“And I appreciate everything
everyone has done. Words
cannot express how much I
appreciate that.”
The West Jackson Fire
Department, Jackson County
EMS, Jackson Trail Fire
Department, Barrow County
Fire Engine 5, Braselton
police and the Jackson County
Sheriff’s Office responded to
the scene. The Georgia State
Patrol is handling an investi
gation of the wreck.
While the state patrol
hasn’t released the cause of
the wreck, the vehicle isn’t
among those recently recalled
by Toyota for faulty accelera
tor pedals.
Suspects lie about knowledge of fake bills among incidents
THREE PEOPLE who
told Braselton police that
they didn’t know that their
money was counterfeit later
told another law enforcement
officer that they knew that the
cash was fake.
A store manager at the Pilot
Travel Center on Ga. Hwy.
53 told Braselton police that
three people tried paying for
items with two counterfeit
bills.
The suspects told an officer
that they didn’t know that the
money was fake and a relative
gave it to them, according to
an incident report. The officer
took the money and released
the suspects because they had
no warrants against them.
The following day, a Hall
County deputy contacted
Braselton police and said they
had stopped the suspects and
found one hundred dollars in
counterfeit $10 bills.
The suspects told the dep
uty that they knew that the
money presented in Braselton
the previous day was coun
terfeit.
BRASELTON INCIDENTS
The following incidents
were reported to the Braselton
Police Department last week:
•terroristic threats at The
Home Depot distribution
center on Broadway Avenue,
where two people said they
received an envelope from
an unknown party. The enve
lope, which was sent to Home
Depot, contained a newspaper
article about an ex-employee
going into a business, and
shooting several employees
and patrons. There was noth
ing else in the envelope or
other markings on it, other
than a business card taped
where the address is placed.
An investigator was assigned
to the case.
•damage to property at a
Mossy Oak Landing address,
where a man said he arrived
at a residence to find that
a rear window was broken.
Concerned that someone could
be inside, he waited until an
officer arrived and cleared the
residence. The man said the
tenant renting the residence
had been arrested and was
in jail. A relative came to the
residence to get the tenant’s
children. There was trash
throughout the house and a
dog living in a bedroom. The
dog left a mess in a bathroom.
Police provided the man with
case information about the
incident so he could file an
insurance claim.
•damage to property on
1-85, where a woman said
she was driving on the inter
state when an object came
off a tractor-trailer truck. The
object hit her vehicle’s sun
roof and broke the glass. The
woman got the truck’s license
information, but police said
there was no match on file for
the vehicle.

AN EMPLOYEE with the county recreation department has
been arrested in connection with the theft of county property.
Jimmy Ray Hollis, 60, 1099 Old State Road, Pendergrass,

to the county being sold at a local recycling center. The funds
were not turned over to the county.
