THE EAST Jackson
Comprehensive High School
FBLA is sponsoring a gas/
gift card raffle as a fund
raiser.
Participants may purchase
a $1 ticket for a chance to
win a $100 gas/gift card.
Tickets will be available
through Friday, Feb. 12.
The drawing will be held
on Feb. 12 at EJCHS dur
ing half-time of the East
Jackson/Banks County boys
basketball game. Participants
do not have to be present to
win and the winner will be

Concert to benefit JHS trip
A BENEFIT concert for
Jefferson High School's World
War II senior trip will be held on
Saturday, February 13, at 8 p.m.
at the Jefferson High School
Performing Arts Center, 575

AUTHOR AT BENTON
Author and illustrator Pam Alexander recently vis
ited Benton Elementary School. Alexander is the
illustrator of the Yumion series of children’s books
about Georgia and the author and illustrator of
“Jeremiah Makes History Hop.” She entertained
the students with stories about how she’d done the
research for her books, and showed them how she
uses photographs as models for her illustrations.

COLLECTS MONEY FOR HAITI
Due to the overwhelming effort needed to help
Haiti recover after the earthquake, the FCCLA Club
at East Jackson Middle School donated $25 to the
Food for the Poor charity organization. This orga
nization has an established workforce in Haiti to
help provide relief to the residents affected by the
earthquake and is currently collecting money to
help with food and medical care.

MR. & MISS EJCHS
The faculty at East Jackson Comprehensive High
School recently chose Evan Williamson and Aubrey
Cozzens as Mr. and Miss EJCHS. Williamson, son
of Sharon and Steve Williamson, plans to attend the
University of Georgia or take a football scholarship
to a smaller college. He plans to major in communi
cations/journalism. Cozzens, daughter of Heidi and
Ferrill Cozzens, plans to enter the nursing program at
BYU in Idaho and work toward a bachelor’s degree.
She also plans to do a Latter Day Saints 18-month
mission trip.
CROWNED AT JCCHS
Lexie Miller and Jonathan Holton were crowned as
the Sweetheart Court winners at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School.
4-H’ers plan archery
tournament on March 27
JACKSON County 4-H
will host the third annu
al Godfrey Memorial
Archery Tournament on
Saturday, March 27, at the
Jackson County Equestrian
Center, located at 2219
Wheeler Cemetery Road,
Maysville.
This tournament is open
to both youth and adults
for FITA and 3-D competi
tions. All FITA registra
tions should be postmarked
by March 12 or space will
not be guaranteed.
