Sarah Adams
DANIELS VILLE
Sarah Sue Fortson Adams
of the Brown Memorial
Convalescent Center died
Monday, March 8, 2010.
Born on November 20,
1931, in Madison County,
she was the daughter of the
late King David and Birdie
Mae Carithers Fortson. She
was the 11 th of 15 chil
dren. She was a homemaker
and worked in several area
sewing plants. She had an
in-home daycare for many
years and was retired from
General Times in 1989
due to failing eyesight.
She always lived within 20
miles from where she was
born and raised.
Mrs. Adams was preceded
in death by her husband of
52 years, Herman Adams.
She was the caregiver for
four years prior to his death.
She then decided to sell the
family home to Evangelical
Church so they could build
a Family Life Center. She
was a resident of the Gables
in Royston, where she
had numerous friends and
adventures. In late 2006,
she broke a second hip due
to her lack of sight and
frailty and became a resi
dent of Brown Memorial
Convalescent Center. She
had her hair and nails
done every week and loved
Bingo. She had friends and
enjoyed friend and family
visits. She enjoyed good
physical health most of her
life.
Survivors include chil
dren, Lee Douglas Adams,
Herman Daniel Adams and
Ophelia Adams Hart; a
brother, King Fortson Jr.;
nine grandchildren; and
seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband,
she was preceded in death
by 13 brothers and sisters,
James, Alson, Bethune,
Early, Thelma, Sally, Emma
Ruth, Mildred, Mary, Edna,
Linda, Carolyn and Janice.
Funeral services were
held Wednesday, March 10,
from the chapel of Pruitt
Funeral Home with the Rev.
Tim Peek officiating. Burial
was in the Community
Baptist Church Cemetery.
Grandsons served as pall
bearers.

arrangements.

following an extended ill
ness.
Born in Athens, she was
the daughter of the late
James Billups and Hattie
Lou Fitzpatrick Smith. She
attended Faith Pentacostal
Holiness Church. Mrs. Allen
was preceded in death by
her husband, Carlton Allen.
Survivors include a
daughter and son-in-law,
Linda and Ronnie Steed,
Danielsville; grandchildren,
Jonathan Steed, Ronnie
Steed, and Lindsey Steed,
all of Danielsville; sisters,
Lorine Privette, Comer,

Born on February 6,
1956, in Macon, she was the
daughter of the late Thomas
William and Imogene
Kennedy Dobbs. She was a
registered nurse, a graduate
of Mercer University and
the Georgia Baptist School
of Nursing. Mrs. Barber
was preceded in death by
a brother, Andrew Thomas
Dobbs.
Survivors include a sister,
Rebecca Carpenter, Macon;
friend and companion,
James Barber, Pendergrass;
and several aunts, uncles,
nieces and nephews.
