Gainesville State College honors area students
Locals earn degrees
GAINESVILLE State
College has named several
Jackson County students to the
president's list, dean's list or
merit list for fall semester.
To earn a place on the presi
dent’s list, a student must attain
a 4.0 grade point average with a
minimum of 15 semester credit
hours of academic work in one
semester.
In order to qualify for the
dean’s list, a student must attain
a 3.5 or higher grade point
average with a minimum of 15
semester credit hours of aca
demic work in one semester.
To earn a place on the merit
list, a student must attain a 3.5
or higher grade point average
with a minimum of nine and
less than 15 semester credit
hours of academic work in one
semester.

JMS STUDENTS RAISE FUNDS FOR ST. JUDE
Jefferson Middle School students raised $1,060 for
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the
Math-a-Thon Program. The Math-a-Thon allows stu
dents to improve math skills while helping children
with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. School
leaders thanked Coach Brad Puckett and his classes
for their organization and special participation in the
