George Sammons
WINDER - George H.
Sammons, 76, died Monday,
March 29, 2010.
He was born on January 17,
1934, in Williamsburg, Ky. and
was retired from the City of
Winder in Winder. He was of
the Baptist denomination.
Survivors include his wife
of 55 years, Clara Dalton
Sammons, Winder; sons and
daughters-in-law, Terry and
Carol Sammons and Larry
and Joyce Sammons, all of
Auburn; grandchildren, Alicia
Holt, Crystal Sammons, Steven
Sammons and Trevor Sammons;
great-grandson, Landon Holt;
sisters, Beulah Mae Hamilton,
Toledo, Ohio, and Eulavee
McCoy, Williamsburg, Ky.; and
several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, April 1, at 11 a.m., in
the chapel of Flanigan Funeral
Home with the Revs. Buster
Green and Larry Youngblood
officiating. Burial will be at
Barrow Memorial Gardens in
Winder.

Buford, is in charge of arrange
ments.

Smith, 27, died Tuesday, March
23, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Commerce, he was
the son of Dennis Jordan and
Kathy Marie

with the Revs. Melvin Baugh
and Jim Gilstrap officiating.
Burial was in the Bethlehem
Baptist Church Cemetery in
Lula.

Lane Teet
COLBERT - C. Lane "Pops”
Teet, 68, died Friday, March 26,
2010.
Born in Greensboro, he was
the son of the late Loyd and
Thelma Satcher Teet. He grew
up in Oconee County where
he was a member of Antioch
Christian Church until moving
to Colbert where he became
a member of Colbert United
Methodist Church. He was
retired from the Clarke County
Board of Education as the ware
house supervisor. Mr. Lane
had a lifelong love for old cars,
restoring and showing them in
car shows. His most favorite
place to be was on the shores
of Lake Hartwell where he sat
on the deck and where he was
most happy and at peace. An
avid NASCAR fan, he loved
fast cars and any kind of racing.
His greatest joy in life was his
grandson Mason, loved ones
stated.
Survivors include his wife,
Jerrie Teet, Colbert; daugh
ter and son-in-law, Sharon
and David Savage, Colbert;
sisters and brothers, Laverne
Hayes, Watkinsville, Zadie
Smiddy, Augusta, Franklin D.
Teet, Alabama, Anita Miller,
Nicholson, Diane Eades,
Winterville, Sue Robertson,
Hampton; grandson. Mason
Savage and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, March 28 at Lord &
Stephens Danielsville Chapel
with the Rev. Jim Haralson
officiating. Honorary pallbear
ers were Tom Partain, Harold
Gaulding, Danny Roach, Mike
Dudley, Randy Walls, Wayne
Craig Sr., Mike Fitzpatrick and
Benjamin Fitzpatrick.
Memorial contributions may
be made to the Colbert United
Methodist Church Building
Fund.

Born on August 25, 1952, in
Atlanta, she was the daughter
of Eva Lois Edwards of Social
Circle and the late William
Lloyd Edwards. She was a clerk
for the Jackson County Court
System.

HULL - Lionel G. Wardlaw,
73, died Tuesday, March 23,
2010, at St. Mary's Hospice
House.
Born in Jackson County, he
was the son of the late Thomas
Edward Watson and Helen
Dillard Wardlaw. He was the
owner of Wardlaw Enterprises.
Survivors include his wife,

Gainesville; brother, Randall

grandchild.

Mildred Watson
COMMERCE - Mildred
Tucker Watson, 92, has gone to
her eternal home to be with her
Lord, her husband Charles, and
son, Billy.
She was a devoted member
of the First Baptist Church of
Commerce and was retired
from Commerce Manufacturing
Company.
Survivors include a son and
daughter-in-law, Edwin and
Elaine Watson, Commerce;
daughters and sons-in-law, Gail
and Pete Allen, Danielsville,
and Carol and Jimmy Drake,
Ila; daughter-in-law, Carolyn
Watson, Lilburn; sisters,
Edna Johnson, Eloise Tucker
and Sybil Simpkins, all of
Commerce; 10 grandchildren;
and 20 great-grandchildren.

Wednesday, March 31, from

Commerce with Carlton Allen
and the Rev. Billy Owensby
officiating. Burial was in Grey
Hill Cemetery.

‘J.B.’Weir
CANTON - James B. "J.B.”
Weir, Jr., 88, formerly of
Jefferson, died Saturday, March
20, 2010.
Born in Jefferson, he was
the son of the late James B.
Weir Sr. and Bessie O’Kelley
Weir. He worked as an engineer
for 27 years in the radio and
television production industry
with companies
in Tulsa and
Sacramento. He
was a veteran
of the United States Army Air
Corp during World War II. Mr.
Weir was preceded in death by
a brother, Ollin Clyde Weir; and
sister, Lottie Crowe.
Survivors include a sister-in-
law, Mary Weir, Atlanta; neph
ews, David L. Weir and his
wife Debbie, Livermore, Calif.,
Joe Weir and his wife Nannette,
McDonough; great-nephew and
niece, Nolan and Julia; and
many cousins, friends and dear
family members living in the
Jefferson community.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, March 24, from the
chapel of Evans Funeral Home.
Burial was in Jackson Memorial
Park, Commerce.

NICHOLSON - James
Mitchell Wood, 59, died
Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at
his residence.
Born in Jackson County, he
was the son of the late Austin
and Lena Hardy Wood. Mr.
Wood was preceded in death by
a brother, Bobby Wood.
Survivors include his wife,
Patricia Arlene Roach Wood,
Nicholson; daughters, Debbie
Nix and Donna Walls, both
of Hull; sisters, Hilda Wilson,
Commerce, and Patricia
Muthee, Gainesville; brother,
Billy Wood, Nicholson; grand
children, Jennifer Loggins,
Kasie Nix, Harlee Roberson
and Hunter Walls; and a great
grandchild, Alexis Jade Price.
Mr. Wood will be cremated
and no memorial services are
scheduled at this time.
