JHS SOCCER
Jefferson falls to East Jackson
IT WAS a rough week for
the Jefferson soccer teams last
week.
Jefferson played host to East
Jackson last Thursday. For the
boys, it was a chance to break
a losing streak and get their
first mark in the win column
of the season.
The game went scoreless
through regulation. In over
time, the Dragons were able
to connect on three penalty
kicks. East Jackson connected
on four, however, giving the
Eagles the victory.
It was a disappointing day
for the Lady Dragons as well,
as they came out on the short
end of a 1-0 final against the
Lady Eagles, giving them their
second loss in a row.
After spring break this week,
Jefferson is slated to return
to action on April 13 against
Madison County. The girls
game is scheduled for a 5:30
p.m. start time, with the boys
to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Gresham continued from IB
John Gibson and Gordon all took turns in the
lead before Rogers muscled his way back to the
point for good on lap 123.
From there, Rogers survived several restarts
building leads of as much as a half lap before a
late caution with just seven circuits remaining
allowed Gordon to close to Rogers’ back bumper
for one final restart.
Rogers again showed he was the man to beat,
roaring away over the final five laps to take the
win - his third at in USAR competition at GMP
- over Gordon, Gibson, Frank and Jeff Agnew.
Tyler Young, Ryan Heavner, David Wilson,
Logan Ruffin and Larry Barrett completed the
top-10 finishers.
In the Outlaw Late Model main event, Jason
Bates won his second-consecutive GMP feature
besting Mike Davidson, David Murphy, Hoyt
Stephens and Terry Martin at the checkered
flag.
Shawn Campbell was the winner in the
Renegade Street Stock headliner with Vernon
Hicks, Nathaniel Carlisle and Doug Sexton in
his wake at the checkered flag.
The Mini-Stocks made their first appearance
of the season at Gresham Motorsports Park a
memorable one as Spanky Hicks repeated his
win in last year’s World Crown 300 Mini-Stock
final. B.J. Thrasher, Ken Candiotti Sr., Tim
Greer and Blake Freeman completed the Top-5.
The next event at GMP will be a 100-lap
Pro Late Model race, along with races for the
Outlaw Late Models, Renegades, Mini-Stocks
and Trucks.

last week, as Jefferson hosted
Prince Avenue Christian at

The boys came away with a
win, shooting a 172 to Prince
Avenue’s 176.
Cutler Finch and Josh
Flowers tied, both shooting
a 41 to lead the Dragons.
Austin Rowland shot a 45.
Nick Stowe shot a 45 as
well.
For the girls, it was a for
feit win as Prince Avenue
failed to finish. The girls
shot a 94.
Brooke Whelchel and
Hanna Chapman led the Lady
Dragons, each shooting a 47.
Both teams will not com
pete again until April 6, when
they will again host Prince
Avenue at Traditions. The
