Vehicles on neighborhood street vandalized
AT LEAST eight vehicles
parked on the same residential
street in Hoschton were tar
geted by thieves, according to
the Jackson County Sheriff’s
Office.
Residents along Reece
Drive in the Whitaker Downs
subdivision said someone
entered their vehicles between
the evening hours on Sunday,
March 21, and the early morn
ing hours of Monday, March
22.
Two of the residents report
ed that their vehicles were
unlocked during the incident,
while reports from the other
residents don’t state if their
vehicles were locked or not.
Overall, the stolen items
included more than $200
in cash and coins, two GPS
devices, a new laptop, an
iPod Touch, CDs, cell phone,
debit card, a wallet with credit
cards, garage door opener and
even a $2 pack of gum.
Later, a Hoschton man
on Huntington Trail said he
found a purse in the roadway
during the evening. The man
looked inside the purse and
found information belonging
to a woman living on Reece
Drive. He took the purse to the
woman’s residence and left it
hanging from her mailbox.
The following morning, the
man said he found another
purse laying in the road that
also belonged to a woman liv
ing at the same Reece Drive
address.
A deputy took the purse to
the residence, where a woman
didn’t know that it was miss
ing from an unlocked vehicle
parked in the driveway. The
woman said $70 was missing
from the purse, but no other
items were stolen from the
vehicle.
On nearby Ga. Hwy. 332
on those dates, a deputy also
spotted a purse in the road
way and contacted the owner,
who lived on McEver Lane in
Hoschton.
The purse’s owner didn’t
know that her purse was miss
ing. Her husband then checked
a vehicle in the driveway,
where it was discovered that a
GPS device was missing. The
woman had also left her purse
in the vehicle.
