Woman assaulted in Talmo
INCIDENTS reported recently to the Jefferson Police
Department include the following:
•domestic dispute at an Old Pendergrass Road residence
where a man was dragging a child by the arm.
•a Holder Siding Road man said his neighbor's dog bit
him.
•a man said someone stole prescription medication out of
his truck while it was parked at a grocery store in the city.
•domestic dispute between a woman and her adult son.
•a Jefferson Walk Circle man said his “day timer” orga
nizer is missing.
•a man said someone brought a laptop computer to him
to repair and he called Dell and discovered the computer
had been stolen.
•domestic dispute between a couple at a Danielsville
Street home.
•verbal dispute between a couple at a Spinner Drive resi
dence.
•dispute between a woman and her teenage son at a
Michelle Drive address.
•a woman said she was driving on the Old Pendergrass
Road when a teenager made an obscene gesture at her.
•a vendor at a flea market said she is having problems
with another vendor.
•forged prescription attempted to be passed at a phar
macy.
•vehicle fire in the parking lot of the public library.

Ex-wife steals pricey pups
AN EX-WIFE walked
into a residence and stole
four pricey pups, accord
ing to the Braselton Police
Department.
A woman living at the
Shumard Oak Drive resi
dence said a Chevrolet Tahoe
backed into the driveway
and her husband’s ex-wife
got out of the vehicle.
The ex-wife somehow got
into the garage and entered
the house through an
unlocked connecting door.
When a house alarm started
to sound, the new wife ran
upstairs and secured herself
in a bedroom.
The new wife said the ex-
wife took four dogs from
the residence that she had
dropped off earlier in the
year saying that she couldn’t
afford them, according to an
incident report.
The dogs — two pugs,
a Pekingese and a Tibetan
Spaniel — were valued at a
total of $4,000.
BRASELTON
INCIDENTS
The following inci
dents were reported to the
Braselton Police Department
last week:
•theft by taking at Waffle
House on Spout Springs
Road, where a manager said
an employee broke into a
juke box machine and stole
$63 in cash. The incident
was captured on a video
surveillance system.
•theft by taking at a
Piedmont Street address,
where a man said he noticed
that two excavators were
damaged at a construction
work site. The windshield of
both excavators were broken
and three work signs with
stands were taken.
•entering a vehicle to
commit theft or felony at a
Liberty Park Drive address,
where a man said someone
stole a GPS device and DVD
player from a vehicle that
was possibly unlocked.
•theft by taking at the
Pilot Travel Center, locat
ed on Ga. Hwy. 53, where
a woman said she left her
wallet on a counter at the
store. When she realized
that her wallet was miss
ing, she called the store, but
was told no one had turned
in the missing wallet. The
woman’s driver’s license,
fuel card and credit cards
were in the wallet.

failure to notify owner upon
striking a fixture, open con
tainer of alcohol while oper
ating a vehicle, tail light vio
lation, operating an unsafe
vehicle and DUI.
Burglar flees woman’s home
A HWY. 441 woman
returned home on a recent
afternoon and found a burglar
in her home.
The woman entered her
home, located between
Nicholson and Commerce,
through the front door and
saw a lamp on the living room
floor. As she walked through
the home, she saw someone
running from the back deck of
the home into the woods.
The rear door and rear
storm door had been pried
open, according to the report
filed with the Jackson County
Sheriff’s Office.
The woman reported jew
elry missing from her home.
•hit and run accident in the parking lot of Family Dollar,
•domestic dispute between a couple at a Pine Street resi
dence.
•a man said someone came to his business and made
threatening remarks to him.
•road rage at a Red Bud Road location.
•a woman said she and a neighbor, along with her teen
age daughter and her friend, were sitting outside at a Pine
Street location when a man pulled down his pants and uri
nated in front of them.
•a woman flagged down an officer in the Race Trac park
ing lot and said she and her husband had been in a domestic
dispute.
•domestic dispute at a Gordon Street residence.
•suicide attempt at a city residence when a woman took
20 prescription pills.
•mailbox damaged at a Holder Siding Road residence,
•public intoxication and disorderly conduct at a Red Bud
Road home.
•a woman said a man she knows continues to harass her.
•dispute between two men at a Gordon Street location,
•dispute between a woman and her father at a Hamilton
Drive residence.
•dispute between a man and his grandmother’s husband,
•harassing phone calls at a Clay Drive residence.
•suicide attempt when a man took 100 sleeping pills and
drank half a bottle of rum.
Boy hurt when run over
by father’s lawnmower
A FOUR-YEAR-OLD
Hoschton boy was injured
when his father accidentally
drove a riding lawnmower over
him, according to the Jackson
County Sheriff's Office.
The boy’s father said he
was cutting grass at an Old
Wick Trail address on March
24, when his son came over
to him because something had
fallen off his bicycle, accord
ing to an incident report.
When the father went to
back up the lawn mower, he
accidentally ran over the boy.
The father said the lawnmow
er’s blade had been disengaged
prior to putting it in reverse.
The boy had a large, deep
cut in his left leg and tire
tracks across his back. He
also had bruising on his upper
body.
The child was stabi
lized and taken by helicop
ter to a children's hospital
in Atlanta, according to the
Jackson County Department
of Emergency Services. He
was later listed in stable con
dition.
Stabbing suspect arrested
in Braselton last Friday
A TALMO woman said
she went outside her home
to check on her dog when a
man assaulted her and drug
her into a nearby vacant
mobile home. A second man
grabbed her dog and also
went inside the home.
She said once inside the
home, which was filled with
smoke, the two men pulled
her pants down. The victim
said her dog began bark
ing and she kicked the men
and was able to escape. She
ran back into her home and
locked the door.
A deputy was called to
the scene and he called
for the North Jackson Fire
Department to respond to
the fire. Firemen found two
sources of the fire. One was
a wad of paper towels by
the back door which were
partially burned. The other
was a pornographic maga
zine and some plastic that
had been set on fire in the
bathroom.
Ride to benefit injured cops
THE GWINNETT Police
Employee Benevolent Fund’s
third annual Ride for Injured
Cops will be held on Saturday,
April 18.
Registration will be held
from 10-11:30 a.m., at the
Gwinnett County Police
Department North Precinct,
located at 2735 Mall of
Georgia Blvd., Buford.
The final stop and party
will be held at Jeffrey's Sports
Grill, located at 6332 Grand
Hickory Drive, Braselton.
The poker run event will
feature live music, a car show,
motorcycle show, a 50/50 raf
fle, auction and door prizes.
Registration is $20 per driv
er and $10 per passenger, and
includes a poker hand and ride
shirt. Additional poker hands
are $5.
The rain date is Sunday,
May 16.

Free grief support group set
HOSPICE OF Northeast
Georgia Medical Center
(NGMC) is offering a free
six-week grief support
group.
The group will meet in
Gainesville, from 4-5 p.m.,
each Thursday, during the
weeks of April 8 through
May 13. The support group
will meet at the Hospice of
NGMC office, located at
2150 Limestone Parkway,
Suite 222.
Grief support groups are
open to anyone who has
experienced a close, personal
loss of a friend or loved one.
Topics addressed during
the group meetings include
what grief looks like, sugges
tions for coping and effects
of grief on relationships with
others.
The support group is pro
vided at no charge, but space
is limited, and registration is
required.

A MAN suspected of stab
bing two people in Sandy
Springs was arrested on
Friday in Braselton, accord
ing to police.
Kenneth Dunn Horton,
19, Fairburn, was wanted
in the Friday morning inci
dent in which he stole a car
after assaulting two people,
according to the Atlanta
Journal-Constitution.
A statewide lookout was
posted for Horton and the
vehicle, the AJC reported.
A Braselton officer said
that afternoon, he noticed a
suspicious man standing in
front of a store clerk at the
Chevron gas station on Ga.
Hwy. 53.
The officer walked halfway
down an aisle and saw the
man take out a set of keys
and lay them on the counter.
The man — later identified
as Horton — left the store
without purchasing anything,
according to an incident
report.
The officer asked the clerk
if something wrong and the
clerk said the man left his
keys on the counter.
The officer took the keys
and followed Horton, who
wouldn’t make eye contact
with the officer — but said
he stole a car. Horton said the
car was parked at the nearby
Waffle House parking lot.
Several other Braselton
officers arrived on the scene
and confirmed that the 2004
Saturn Vue parked at the
Waffle House was reported
stolen out of Sandy Springs.
Officers from Sandy
Springs came to Braselton to
transport Horton.

Red Cross to attempt
new world record soon
THE AMERICAN Red
Cross Southern Blood Services
Region will attempt to break a
world record by having the
most people wearing red in
the shape of a blood drop by
forming “The Bulldog Nation
Blood Drop.”
The event will be held on
the University of Georgia's
football practice field, near
Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall,
Athens.
It will be held on Monday,
April 5, from 4-6 p.m. A photo
will be taken at 5 p.m.
“The Bulldog Nation
Blood Drop” world record
attempt is open to the pub
lic. Participants are asked
to wear red to the event.
Commemorative T-shirts and
concessions will be available
for all who participate. The
current record stands at 800
