SPEAKS ON CONSTRUCTION
The Jackson County Builders’ Association executive
officer, Susan Gooch, and member, Sonja Sanders,
recently gave construction students at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School a vision of the real world
applications of construction in Jackson County. Gooch
and the high school construction instructor are working
on building a collaborative partnership between asso
ciation member’s and the construction program at the
school. Sanders, of Sandstone Custom Homes, and
the current vice-president of the association, kicked off
the collaborative effort with a presentation to first year
construction students. Sanders used actual prints and
the tools of the construction design process to illustrate
the fundamental facets of the design of commercial and
residential buildings. Using her own drafting drawings,
Sanders presented custom drawings and explanations of
the many forms of construction prints. Sanders is shown
pointing out drawing details to construction students.
