Fundraiser a success
On Friday, March 26, the
students, parents, family,
friends and staff of Chestnut
Mountain Christian Academy
(CMCA) in Flowery Branch
gathered outside the school
at 10 a.m. and kicked off
the morning with prayer
and high hopes of raising
money for their Walk for
Christ fundraiser. The stu
dents, parents and staff spent
the day walking lap after lap,
mixing in music and activi
ties such as face painting and
a BBQ lunch. Also included
were a moonwalk, cotton
candy and snow cones pro
vided by Ron Vedder.
Wil Smith and Joe Sawyer
from The Dojo American
Karate of Braselton, a spon
sor of the event, did some
laps with the students using
different karate techniques.
During the walk sev
eral raffle drawings were
done. Mindy Ellis won the
grand prize, a brand new
recliner donated by Gee
Furniture.
To date, CMCA
has already reached
$14,000. Although short of
the final goal of $20,000, the
church feels it was a huge
success. “God has blessed us
greatly,” said one of the staff
members.
CMCA is a Christian
elementary school located
inside Chestnut Mountain
Church off Highway 53,
serving grades kindergarten
through fifth. Currently the
school is accepting regis
trations for the 2010-2011
school year.
