Disturbance reported at Jefferson Civic Center event
A JEFFERSON man report
edly caused a disturbance
at a Jefferson Booster Club
function held recently at the
Jefferson Civic Center.
The man, who was not
arrested, reportedly knocked
over a table and then pushed a
man on the dance floor.
According to the incident
reported from the Jefferson
Police Department, a table
that had 20 to 30 beer bot
tles on it was turned over.
Witnesses said the man, who
was “very intoxicated,”
turned the table over for “no
reason.”
Five men came over to the
table and told a police officer
that they would clean up the
mess and take care of the
man.
Later that night, a man told
a police officer that the man
pushed him on the dance
floor and threatened him. Two
police officers then asked the
man to leave the civic center.
Other incident reports
filed recently with the police
department include the fol
lowing:
•domestic dispute between
a woman and her boyfriend at
a Cornish Way residence.
•a bus driver at the Gordon
Street Center said a man
walked up to her bus and
stole her wallet from it. She
was nearby talking to other
bus drivers when the incident
occurred.
•child custody dis
pute between a couple at a
Jefferson business.

found a wallet on the side of
the road.

Brooks Road reported see
ing a woman get out of a
truck and call for help. The
caller said a man then pulled
the woman into the bed of
the truck and left the scene.
An officer found the couple
nearby and arrested the man.

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN COMMUNITY AGENDA
Jackson County has prepared a comprehensive
plan community agenda which is available for
public review. The Jackson County Planning
Commission will hold a work session on April
15, 2010, at 6:00 p.m., at the Jackson County
Administrative Building (Auditorium) at 67
Athens Street, Jefferson, Georgia 30549. Also,
the Jackson County Planning Commission will
hold a public hearing on April 22, 2010, at 6:00
p.m., at the Jackson County Administrative
Building (Auditorium) at 67 Athens Street,
Jefferson, Georgia, 30549. The Board of
Commissioners will hold a public hearing on
May 17, 2010, at 6:00 p.m., at Jackson County
Courthouse (Jury Assembly Room) at 5000
Jackson Parkway, Jefferson, Georgia, 30549.
The purpose of the public hearing is to brief the
community on the contents of the Community
Agenda, provide an opportunity for residents to
make final suggestions, additions or revisions,
and notify the community of when the
Community Agenda will be submitted to the
regional commission for review.
The Comprehensive Plan Community Agenda
for Jackson County is available for public review
in the Public Development Department at 67
Athens Street, Jefferson, Georgia, 30549 and is
also available on the department’s web page at:
www.jacksoncountygov.com.
Interested persons are invited to review the
draft document and to attend the public hearing.

Written comments from the public will be
accepted on the draft Community Agenda until
3:00 p.m. on May 14, 2010.
Man pushed into road rage
A Jefferson man said he
was the victim of road rage
after he confronted someone
who had been speeding and
“riding on his bumper.”
The man said a man pushed
him after the encounter,
according to an incident report
fded with the Jackson County
Sheriff’s Office. The victim
said he got back into his truck
and the man tried to open
the door and then slapped the
vehicle when he couldn’t get
into it.
Other incidents reported to
the sheriff’s office last week
include the following:
•a man said that he was
fired and his former employer
refused to pay him money he
owed him. He said he also
has not been allowed to get
his personal tools from the
business.
•harassing phone calls
at a Woods Bridge Road,
Commerce, location.
•tools, puppies and other
items taken from an Orr’s
School Road, Jefferson,
address.
•three men stole clothes
from a Banks Crossing busi
ness after throwing a rock into
the store to get inside.
•mailbox damaged at a
Traditons Way, Jefferson, res
idence.
•two speakers and an
amplifier taken from a vehi
cle parked at a Hwy. 441,
Commerce, location.
•copper coated wire taken
from a Brock Road address.
•verbal dispute at a B.
Wilson Road, Commerce,
location.
•property damage at a
White Tail Drive, Gillsville,
address.
•a couple, who had an
11-week-old baby with them,
were caught stealing manhole
covers on High Meadow Drive
near Jefferson.
•a Jefferson woman said her
ex-husband is stalking her.
•trespassing at a Fuller
Road, Athens, location.
•accident involving a deer
at a Hwy. 332, Hoschton,
address.
•a man said he was walk
ing on Crooked Creek Road,
Athens, when someone
knocked him down and took
$40 out of his pocket.
•a Windy Hill Road,
Jefferson, woman said a boy
kicked her son as he got off
the bus.
•financial identity fraud
against a Tommy Barnett
Road, Nicholson, man.
•a Braselton woman said
someone made a purchase
on her bank card without her
approval.
•money and jewelry taken
from a Scenic Drive, Hochton,
residence.
•a Jefferson River Road,
Jefferson, man said someone
cut the telephone line going
into his residence.
•trespassing at a Hwy. 124,
Jefferson, business.
•abandoned vehicle at a
Honeysuckle Lane, Jefferson,
location.
•a Talmo man said his
19-year-old son hit him sev
eral times during a dispute.
•two gas chainsaws taken
from a storage building at a
Jefferson River Road, Athens,
residence.
•dirt bike taken from a
building at a Lewis Roberts
Road, Jefferson, address.
•battery during a dispute
between a Hoschton woman
and her ex-boyfriend.
•mailbox damaged at a
Walnut Road, Hoschton,
address.
•a man said someone stole
his wife’s debit card from
his unlocked vehicle at a
Hwy. 124 business. His wife
called the bank and found
that $6,000 had already been
removed from the account.
