East Jackson hosts Banks Wednesday
The Leopards entered play in the midst of a
five-game winning streak, and looked to keep
that roll going.
But East Jackson was looking to get another
victory in their win column, and was prepared
to give Banks County a run for their money.
Things went back and forth over seven
innings, leaving the game tied 4-4 going into
the eighth.
In the top of the eighth, the Eagles came
alive, scoring eight runs to take a command
ing lead. The Leopards could only answer
with one run of their own, giving East Jackson
the 12-5 victory.
OGLETHORPE
On Wednesday, the Eagles played host to
the Patriots of Oglethorpe County. Oglethorpe
had just won their first game since March 16,
ending a six game slide. The Eagles were
hoping to end their new winning streak at
one.
The Patriots took control early, putting one
run across in the top of the first. East Jackson
responded in the bottom of the inning by put
ting two runs on the board to take a 2-1 lead.
top of the second to tie the game, and another
in the top of the third to move ahead. From
there on, the Patriots would control the game,
adding a run in the fourth, two more in the
fifth and three in the sixth.
The Eagles finally answered in the bottom
of the sixth, putting three runners across to
cut the lead to four. After holding the Patriots
scoreless for the first time in the top of the
seventh, East Jackson tried to mount one last
charge, getting one run across, but could move
no closer as Oglethorpe County won 9-6.
Individual statistics were not available at
press time.
WALNUT GROVE
After Wednesday’s near miss, the Eagles
had high hopes Tuesday when they traveled to
Walnut Grove to face the Warriors.
The Eagles had previously defeated Walnut
Grove, recording a 10-4 win back on March
23.
It was close to the same result this time, as
East Jackson again defeated the Warriors, this
time by a score of 9-5.
The win improved the Eagles to 4-8 in the
stretch and also in the Turn 5

Oglethorpe put an additional run on in the region and 6-12 overall.
JCCHS continued from IB
answered by scoring one run in the bottom of
the eighth, but could get no closer as Jackson
County won 9-7.
Austin Robinson moved to 6-0 with the
win, pitching seven innings. Matt Bridgeman
recorded his second save of the season.
“This was a huge win,” said coach Tommy
Fountain. “Mountain View is playing very
well right now. They beat Franklin 13-3 and
Elbert 2-1, so for us to go on the road and face
a little adversity and walk away with a win to
get us back to a tie for fourth was tremendous
for our program.”
HART COUNTY
On Friday, the Panthers played host to the
Hart County Bulldogs.
Hart County took control of the game in the
second inning, scoring three runs on a lead off
walk, back-to-back misplayed bunts, and RBI
single and a double steal. The Bulldogs added
another run in the third inning.
The Panthers got a run across in the fourth
when Rob Williams scored on an RBI by Quinn
Grogan. Jackson County would threaten again
in the seventh, but would get no closer as Hart
County won 4-1.
Matt Bridgemen recorded the loss, giving up
just four hits through six innings.
“It’s a shame that Matt took the loss in this
one,” Fountain said. “He’s thrown three pretty
good games in his three starts, all against the
top three teams in the region, only to be sitting
at 0-2.The positive thing is that everybody else
we needed to lose lost, so we’re in a five-way
tie for the last playoff spot, with seven games
to go. We all play each other these last seven
games, so it’s going to get fun.”
Fountain said he’s never seen a region as
jumbled as this so late in the season.
“Normally there is maybe two or three teams
fighting for a spot or two, but eight of the 10
teams in our region are still in control of their
own destiny. We knew we had to win two out
of three last week to get back in the mix and
we did. Now, we’ve got to take care of busi
ness these last seven games.”
STEPHENS COUNTY
The Panthers were hoping to rebound from
last Tuesday’s loss with a strong showing on
the road against Stephens County on Tuesday.
In their previous meeting, the Panthers had
come away with a 9-8 victory over the Indians
back on March 19.
But it was Stephens County coming away
with the upper hand from this match-up, as
they recorded the 7-3 victory.
Jefferson continued from IB

“It was the best game that the girls played all
