Residential fires reported
Three arrests reported by
Maysville Police Department
RESIDENTIAL FIRES
in Nicholson, Talmo and
Commerce are among those
reported last week.
On Thursday night, at just
after 10 p.m., a home fire
was reported at 2998 Hwy.
441 South, just outside of
Nicholson. Fire units from
Nicholson, Commerce and the
Jackson County Correctional
Institute fire departments
were dispatched to the struc
ture fire. Upon arrival, they
found a residential two-sto-
ry home with heavy smoke
showing.
The fire was quickly con
tained and damage was limit
ed to three rooms with smoke
damage through out the struc
ture. The damage is listed as
moderate, according to the
fire report.
No one was home at the
time of the incident and no
injuries were reported. The
cause of the fire appears elec
trical which started under the
house, according to fire offi
cials.
On Friday, at 2 a.m., fire
units from North Jackson,
Plainview and the Jackson
County Correctional Institute
fire departments responded
to 1082 Martin Road, Talmo,
on a reported residential fire.
Upon arrival, units found a
doublewide mobile home
fully involved with fire. The
structure was reported as
vacant and is now listed as
totally destroyed.
The cause of the fire is under
investigation by the North
Jackson Fire Department,
according to Chip McEver
Fire Chief. No injuries were
reported.
On Saturday, just after 3
p.m., fire units fromNicholson,
Commerce, and the Jackson
County Correctional Institute
fire departments responded to
61 Swain Rd, Commerce, on a
reported residential fire. Upon
arrival, units found a single
story residence with heavy
smoke showing. The fire was
contained to the kitchen and
the attic area with heavy dam
age to the residence.
The family was home at the
time of the fire and Red Cross
was requested for assistance.
No injuries were reported
and the cause of the fire was
determined to have originated
in the kitchen on or near the
stove.
Ila Fire Department assisted
with water as no hydrants are
in this area.
THE MAYSVILLE Police
Department reports three
arrests during the period
of March 30 through April
11. Those arrested and their

GAILEY COMPLETES COURSE
Raymond Gailey graduated from the Northeast Georgia
Police Academy on March 19. He participated in the
10-week, 408-hour Basic Law Enforcement Training
Course as required by the Georgia Peace Officer
Standards and Training Council. The course provides
instruction in the areas of criminal justice, criminal law,
constitutional law, community relations, modern police
procedures, firearms, emergency vehicle operations,
and first aid training. The completion of the course rep
resents the 235th session graduated by the Academy.
Gailey, who is employed with the Jackson County
Sheriff’s Office, is shown with Sheriff Stan Evans.
Pendergrass gravesite
damaged by vandals
VANDALISM WAS report
ed last week in the cemetery
of a Pendergrass church.
A man reported that some
one broke two ceramic angels
on the his son’s grave at
Center Grove Baptist Church,
according to the incident
report filed at the Jackson
County Sheriff’s Office. The
man also reported that in
early March, two concrete
eagles were stolen from the
gravesite.
In another report, a man
said he was doing yard work
at Cave Springs Church on
Hwy. 82 in the Holly Springs
Community when he noticed
that the outdoor community
building was damaged.
