Saturday, April 24, 2010,
at her residence.
Born in Jackson County,
she was the daughter of
the late Alfred and Willie
Lee Wade Gary and
was a homemaker. Mrs.
Mitchell was preceded
in death by her husband,
Fred Mitchell.
Survivors include
daughters, Alicia
Sears, Homer, Brenda
Blanton, Columbus,
Ohio, and Vicky Varner,
Commerce; a brother,
Alvin Gary, Commerce;
sisters, Peggy Price
and Pat Sellers, both
of Commerce, Easter
Smith, Danielsville, and
Lib Little, Stephens;
seven grandchildren; and
five great-grandchildren.
Luneral services will
be held Thursday, April
29, at 11 a.m., from the
chapel of Little-Ward
Luneral Home with the
Rev. Terry Chambers
officiating. Burial will be
in Howington Cemetery.
The family will receive
friends at the funeral
home Wednesday, April
28, from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made
to the American Diabetes
Association Atlanta

Park, Ste. 115, Atlanta,

He was a United States
Army veteran having
served during World War
II in the 32 nd Infantry and
was retired from Fulton
Cotton Mill as supervisor
of the winding depart
ment. Mr. Strickland
was preceded in death
by a son, Samuel Gary
Strickland.

COLBERT-Sarah M.
Turner, 68, died Monday,
April 26, 2010.
A native of Madison
County, she was the
daughter of the late
James H. and Clara Smith
Murray. Mrs. Turner was
preceded in death by her
husband, Larry Turner;
sister, Lottie Cole; and
granddaughter, Liv
Turner. She was retired
from Merrill Lynch with
42 years of service and
was a lifelong member
of Moon’s Grove Baptist
Church.

Turner, Colbert; sis
ters, Robena Simmons,
Comer, and Margaret
Shelton, Hull; brother,
Kenneth Murray, Helen;

Baptist Church with the
Rev. Dan Fuller offi
ciating. Burial was in
the church cemetery.

Wammock Jr., 47, died

Born in Atlanta he was
the son of James Michael
Wammock Sr. and Judith
Jackson Wammock of
Brunswick. He was self-
employed as an industri
al electrician. He loved
playing his guitar and
making music, was a
computer whiz and loved
riding his motorcycle.
His children were his
greatest joy in life, loved
ones stated.
Survivors in addition
to his parents include his
companion, Liza Smith,
Nicholson; children,
Jessica Wammock, Aaron
and Dylan Wammock, all
of Athens; siblings, Gina
Wammock, Chicago,
Ill., Chris Wammock,
Swainsboro, and Laurie

grandchild, Cayden

Athens; and aunts and
uncles, Bill and Billie
Jackson, Macon, Sam

Annie” Wellborn, 81,
died Friday, April 23,
2010.
A native of Oglethorpe
Country, she was the
daughter of the late
Tallie and Ruby Varnum
Savage. She retired as
a floral arranger, work
ing for Flowers Inc. for
a number of years. She
was an avid artist deal
ing with Primitive Art
Paintings. She is in the
Artist Hall of Fame in
Cooperstown, N.Y. and
currently has art being
exhibited at the Georgia
Southern University,
where she is the “Poster
Child.” Mrs. Wellborn
was preceded in death
by her husband, Jimmie
Wellborn; a daughter and
son-in-law, Mary Alice
and Artice “Leadfoot”
Ridgeway; and a number
of siblings.
Survivors include
a daughter and son-
in-law, Sandra and
Richard Hanson, Hull;
sisters, Hazel Forrester,
Gainesville, Claudette
Lathem, Clermont, and
Sarah Garrett, Winder;
brothers, Lewis Savage,
Lake Oconee, Marvin
Savage, Watkinsville,
Bob Savage, Jefferson,
RL Savage, Loganville;
six grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; and
a number of other rela
tives.

held Sunday, April 25,
