SMITH RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP
Jefferson High School student, Amber Smith, daughter of Audrey Smith and
Tony Smith, received a Presidential Century Full Academic Scholarship to
Piedmont College. She will study early childhood and art. She is shown with
her mother, as well as assistant principal Tom Parker and principal Kevin
Smith.
GRIFFITH RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP
Jacline Griffth, the valedictorian at Jefferson High School, has received the “Stamps
Memorial Scholarship,” which is a full academic presidential scholarship to Georgia
Tech. She is shown with her parents, Bob and Carine Griffith; her sister, Joanna; her
brother, Robert; assistant principal Tom Parker, counselor Heather Thompson and
principal Kevin Smith.
LOGUE RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP
Jefferson High School student, Clara Logue, received the Robert McNair Full
Academic Scholarship to the University of South Carolina. Clara also received the
Lieber Scholarship for being a National Merit Finalist and also a School of Music
Scholarship. She will major in music performance and minor in studio art and sci
ence at USC. She is shown with her father Paul Logue and mother Nancy Solie, as
well as assistant principal Tom Parker and principal Kevin Smith.
HESTER RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP
Jefferson High School student, Marcayla Hester, has received the Reginaldo Howard
Memorial Scholarship, which is a full academic scholarship to Duke University.
Marcayla is a National Merit Scholar Finalist and will study biomedical engineering.
She is shown with her mother, Ericka Johnson; assistant principal Tom Parker;
counselor Heather Thompson; and principal Kevin Smith.
BB TEAM COMPETES
Jackson County 4-H BB shooters participated in both team and individual competition
with over 625 other shooters from across the state in the 2010 BB Target Challenge
at Rock Eagle. The Jackson County team finished 10th out of 88 teams, which was
their highest finish in the State meet, to date. Those competing on the team were
Dalton Comer, Caleb Sanders, Will Underwood, Charlie Britt, Brooke Bullock, Amber
Caudell, and Benjamin Rigsby. They are coached by Tom Rigsby. Charlie Britt (pic
tured), finished 10th in the standing position. Seth Bullock, a fifth grader, competed
as an individual, scoring a perfect 100 on the written portion of the competition. Also
attending the meet from Jackson County was fourth grader, Jacob Doster.
DRAGON AWARD RECIPIENTS
Dragon Award winners at Jefferson Elementary School for week of April 26 were:
(front) Margo Perry, Eli Rhodes, Tylia Brown, Joseph Martin and Robb Daniel; and
(back) Ansley Simonton, Jade Little, Mckenzie Carlson, Elly Purvis, Buddy Strickland
and Nathan Fowler.
Rachael Bishop receives national award

BISHOP, a

an award in the
2009 Culture of
Enterprise Essay
Contest.
Her essay,
“Reconnecting
BISHOP
with Smith:
Understanding
the Virtue
and Vice of
Capitalism
Through
The Theory
of Moral
Sentiments,”
garnered third
place.
In addi
tion to receiving a monetary
award, Bishop was given an
all-expenses paid trip to New
York City, where the awards
ceremony took place.
The essay contest is spon
sored annually by The
Intercollegiate Studies Institute,
which exists to instill an under
standing and appreciation for
America’s founding principles.

JACKSON EMC CAPITAL CREDITS
In compliance with O.C.G.A. §44-12-236 of The Disposition of
Unclaimed Property Act, Jackson EMC is attempting to locate
former members whose capital credit checks were issued in 2004,
but which have been returned by the U.S. Post Office as
“undeliverable” or have otherwise been unclaimed.
A current list of these members, with their last known addresses
and instructions for claiming these funds, is posted at our
Jefferson District office located at 850 Commerce Road, Building
2000, Jefferson, Georgia, for review from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00
p.m., Monday through Friday.
The last possible date to claim these funds is September 24, 2010.
If these funds are not claimed by this date, they will be donated
for charitable uses, as permitted by O.C.G.A. § 44-12-236.
