Toilets, carpet stolen from foreclosed house
A FORMER homeowner possibly trashed his foreclosed
residence before moving out of the residence, according
to an incident report from the Jackson County Sheriff’s
Office.
A representative for a bank said someone damaged a
house at a Traditions Way, Jefferson, address and stole sev
eral items from the residence. The house is currently in the
foreclosure process.
The woman provided a deputy with the name of the for
mer homeowner, but said no one witnessed him damage the
property or steal items from the house.
The stolen items included 20 ceiling and wall light fix
tures, a microwave oven, glass from cabinets, several kitch
en and bath sinks, water heaters, several rooms of carpet,
five towel bars and several toilets.
A deputy said that isn't a complete list of stolen or dam
aged items, as the bank had not assessed the loss at the time
of the initial incident report.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents reported to the sheriff's office last week
include the following:
•domestic dispute between a teenage daughter and her
mother at a Thornhill Drive, Braselton, address.
•burglary at a Hunter Drive, Hoschton, address, where
a man reported hearing several noises that sounded like
vehicles in the area during the night. In the morning, the
man noticed that a neighboring residence had its windows
covered, although no one lives at the house. A deputy said
the interior looked as though someone entered the residence
through a possibly unlocked rear door, and stripped out
some of the wiring and metal pipes. There was considerable
damage to the residence.
•burglary at a Marlie Court, Hoschton, address, where a
woman said she and her daughter watched an older model
Pontiac with three men pull into her neighbor's driveway.
Two of the men got of the vehicle and knocked on the front
door of the residence. When there was no answer, the men
went to the rear of the house, while the third man began
driving slowly around the neighborhood. The two men
were later seen running from the rear of the residence to
the vehicle, which left the neighborhood at a high rate of
speed. A woman living in a basement level apartment at the
residence said she was watching TV, when she heard glass
breaking. The woman saw a man running from the side of
the residence. The suspects didn’t enter the residence, but
unlocked and raised a window after breaking it.
•burglary at a Hwy. 124, Jefferson, address, where a man
said someone broke a window in his dining room and stole
several items from his residence. A pistol, $15 in cash and
prescription pills were reported stolen. Deputies found sev
eral fingerprints on the scene, along with blood, possibly
from the suspect. The stolen items were valued at $515.
•burglary at a Hwy. 124, Jefferson, address, where a
woman said when she returned to her house, a side door
had been forced open. A suspect had broken a window to
the side door and entered the residence. A suspect searched
through drawers. A blanket, medication, a roll of quarters
and other miscellaneous memorabilia were reported stolen.
The items were valued at $118.
•criminal trespass at a Kinley Brooke Court, Jefferson,
address, where a man said he was sleeping during the after
noon and was awakened by a loud commotion. He later
found the glass of a back door window broken and the door
locks drilled out. A neighbor reported seeing a metallic,
blue two-door car speeding in the subdivision. The vehicle
picked up a white man, who ran from a wooded area, and
drove out of the subdivision.
•burglary at a Stone View Drive, Hoschton, address, where
a woman said someone stole items from her residence while
she wasn’t there. The woman suspected that a man she met
at a restaurant may have taken the items. While at her home,
the man asked about some of the items that were stolen,
along with her alarm system. The woman said after telling
the man about the missing items, she didn’t hear from him
again. The items were valued at $5,210.
•theft by taking at a Bill Watkins Road, Hoschton, address,
where a man said several items were taken from a storage
building at his residence. The man said he believed he knew
who stole the items, which included several drills and a saw.
The items were valued at $1,230.
•theft by taking at a Hwy. 124, Jefferson, address, where a
man said someone stole two chainsaws from the rear of his
truck. The items were valued at $2,000.
•damage to property at a Poplar Springs Drive, Hoschton,
address, where a man said someone put a caulking com
pound on his vehicle’s passenger door and window. The
name “James” was written on the door. The damage didn't
appear to be permanent or severe. The previous evening,
someone threw an egg at the vehicle.
•criminal trespass at a Tapp Wood Road, Hoschton,
address, where a woman said someone tried to break into
her house while she was at work. A door at the residence
was damaged, but was still locked and closed when the
woman discovered it. It appeared that someone tried to pry
open the door and kicked it. No items were taken from the
residence.
•burglary at a Meadow Vista Lane, Hoschton, address,
where a woman said she went out of town for several days
and when she returned, several items were missing. There
were no signs of forced entry and the woman had put new
locks on her house. The woman had taken photos of the
items to sell on eBay. The items were valued at $30,000.
•theft by taking at Braselton Tabernacle on Davenport
Road, where a man said someone cut copper tubing off of
two propane tanks outside of the church.
•theft at a Caldwell Lane, Hoschton, address, where a
man said someone made unauthorized charges to his bank
account to an online beauty supply store. The purchase
totaled $105.
•theft by taking at a Hwy. 124, Jefferson, address, where
a man said someone stole 96 sheets of tin from his pas
ture. The man said he had been out of town for a month in
October, but reported the theft in late April. The tin was
valued at $3,500.
•theft of U.S. mail at a Legacy Drive, Hoschton, address,
where a woman said a neighbor called and told her he had
received her open mail in his mail box. The neighbor also
told a deputy that he saw a Hispanic or Middle Eastern man
at his mailbox. The suspect was driving an older “faded”
black car of an unknown model. The neighbor said when
he checked his mail box, his mail was missing, but the
woman's open mail was in his mail box. Braselton police
also responded to the scene.
•burglary at a J.T. Elrod residence. A deputy found forced
entry into the home and a neighbor reported seeing someone
running from the home and toward the woods.
•laptop stolen from a Silver Dollar Road, Maysville,
residence. The homeowner reported that she was leasing the
laptop computer. The owner of the computer traced it and
found it was being used at an Athens location.
•lock cut on a vacant home at a Pinetree Circle, Maysville,
address.
•GPS, I-pod and car stereo taken from a vehicle at a
Station Drive, Pendergrass, location.
•saw, weedeater and other tools taken from a building at
an A.C. Smith Road, Commerce, residence.
•vehicle overturned in a ditch at a Hwy. 11, Jefferson,
address.
•hit and run accident at a Jefferson Street, Athens, loca
tion.
•verbal dispute between a married couple at an A.C. Smith
Road, Commerce, residence.
•three cast iron tubs stolen from a pasture at a Lipscomb
Lake Road, Pendergrass, address.
•theft at a Sandy Creek Road, Commerce, location where
a woman said a man who worked for her deceased husband
took several items without permission.
•verbal dispute between two adult brothers at a Hwy. 334,
Nicholson, residence.
•air condition unit stolen from a Belle Springs Road,
Athens, address.
•a Wilson Cemetery Road, Nicholson, man said a man
walking down the road cursed at his dog. When he asked the
man to stop, he said the man then threatened him.
•mailbox damaged at a Pinetree Circle, Maysville, resi
dence.
•a Pace Drive, Nicholson, man said a neighbor came to his
door with a rifle and accused him of taking his dog. The man
with the gun said he saw his dog tied up in the man’s yard.
•dispute between two men at a Kesler Road, Nicholson,
location. One man said he saw a man kicking a dog and went
outside to confront him. The other man said he did not kick
the dog but did try to get it out of his yard because it had
been killing chickens.
•verbal dispute between a couple after the man asked his
wife to wash a fork.
•property damage at a Jefferson River Road residence
when someone tried to break into the home.

DeKalb County teen drowns
A DEKALB County
teenager, Jacoby Campbell,
drowned Saturday at a
pond in Jackson County.
At 5:30 p.m. on Saturday,
units from Arcade
Rescue, Jefferson Fire,
the Jackson County Dive
unit and Jackson County
EMS responded to 709
Lavender Road, Jefferson,
on a reported drowning.
Upon arrival, they found
Campbell who had been
missing for about 15 min
utes in a small farm pond.
It was reported that the
victim had been fishing
and decided to go swim
ming.

Man lying in roadway
among Braselton incidents
A MAN found lying in a
roadway started saying some
strange things when ques
tioned by officers, according
to Braselton police.
An officer with the state's
Motor Carrier Compliance
Division said he was flagged
down by a man at the inter
section of Thompson Mill
Road and Ga. Hwy. 211.
When the officer turned
around, the man had pulled
over and was lying in the
middle of the roadway.
With much coaxing, the
man moved out of the road
way and was asked by offi
cers if he was OK, according
to an incident report.
The man started yelling
that someone was trying to
kill him, he was an heir to
a large fortune and his girl
friend hit another man, police
said.
A rescue unit responded,
but the man started yelling at
them, too, and refused to go
with the rescue unit.
A Braselton officer said the
man was arrested because he
continued to yell and slow
traffic in the area.
Police charged Vincent
Drogdon, 42, Buford, with
disorderly conduct.

•theft by taking at a
Berkshire Trace address,
where a man said he had
stolen mail in his mailbox.
The man said he saw a
black, two-door car with a
Hispanic driver putting mail
in his mailbox. The man then
drove around his neighbor
hood looking for the suspect,
but couldn't find him. The
man had called a Hoschton
woman, whose stolen mail
was left in his mailbox.
Braselton police said they
would return the stolen mail
to the proper owners.
•making harassing phone
calls at a Whitebeam Trail
address, where a woman said
she was contacted by a relative
of her ex-husband. The rela
tive wanted to be a “friend”
with her on Facebook. The
woman wrote her back say
ing she didn’t want to be
contacted. The wife of the
woman’s ex-husband then
started posting things on her
Facebook page to contact her,
even though the woman said
she didn’t want any contact
with them.
•damage to property at
the Braselton-Stover House,
on Ga. Hwy. 53, where the
driver of a truck said a car in
front of him was turning into
the nearby post office and the
truck driver said he couldn't
stop in time before an acci
dent. Instead, the truck driver
drove the vehicle into the
front yard of the Braselton-
Stover House, where he got
stuck. The grass in the yard
was damaged.
•missing person at the Pilot
Travel Center on Ga. Hwy.
53, where a man said he
had dropped off his father
from Villa Rica to purchase a
vehicle. The man then left the
store to pick up his children.
The man's father called later
and said the vehicle was sold,
and he planned to get a hotel
room. The man couldn’t con
tact his father the remain
der of the evening. A “bum”
at a MARTA station later
answered the phone, accord
ing to the man. The “bum”
said he found the phone at a
MARTA station and the man
went to the station to get the
phone. The man called the
numbers dialed on the phone
and talked to a man named
“John,” a truck driver who
said he dropped his father
off at a Braselton restaurant.
The man said his father had
several medical conditions
that require medication. An
officer said he called an area
hotel and they said there was
no one with the father’s name
who had checked into the
hotel.
•lost or mislaid property
at Kroger on Spout Springs
Road, where a woman said
she couldn’t find her purse,
after shopping at the store.
Items in her purse included
cash, a Mexican passport,
visa, work permit and birth
certificate, along with a
retirement card.
•lost or mislaid property
at Publix on Ga. Hwy. 211,
where a woman said she must
have misplaced her wallet
between the store and her
vehicle. Video surveillance
from the store showed that
the woman placed her wallet
in her purse after paying for
her items and walking out of
the store. The items in the
wallet included cash, credit
cards, Medicaid card, Social
Security card, drivers license,
checks and a veterans card.
•damage to property at
the Pilot Travel Center on
Ga. Hwy. 53, where a man
said he was sleeping in his
tractor-trailer truck, when he
heard another vehicle strike
it. When the man got out of
the truck, the other vehicle
was gone.
•medical call at a Golf
Club Drive address, where
a juvenile said he was driv
ing a golf cart around a cor
ner when it hit a bump. The
golf cart flipped over and the
young man received minor
scratches to his arm and
back. He refused fire rescue
service.

ing arrests last week:
•William Ronnie Duren Jr.,
36, 139 Lake Davidson Lane,
Helena, Ala., disorderly con
duct, possession of less than
one ounce of marijuana and
obstruction.
•George A. Gustavson, 62,
4802 Ferris Avenue, Madison,
Wis., driving while license
suspended or revoked, reck
less driving, open container
of alcohol while operating
a vehicle, hit and run, and
DUI.
•Maria Helen Johnson,
36, 2086 Northland Drive,
Lawrenceville, DUI.
•Michael Moran, 19, 8556
Stone Road, Douglasville,
underage possession of alco
hol and disorderly conduct
under the influence.
