BOWMAN - Ida Lou Alewine
Almond, 98, died Saturday, May
15, 2010 at the Brown Memorial
Convalescent Center in Royston.
Born in Bowman on November
30, 1911, she was the daugh
ter of the late Reese and Sarah
Lou Moore Alewine. She was a
retired lunch room worker and a
member of the Bowman Baptist
Church. Mrs. Almond was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
Florence Hadan Almond.
Survivors include her son,
Hubert Almond, Smyrna; daugh
ter, Beth Brock, Bowman; sis
ter, Rosa Lee Caudell, Royston,
three grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Monday, May 17, at the Pruitt
Funeral Home Chapel with
the Revs. Tony Smith and Rob
Spivey officiating. Burial was in
the Hillcrest Cemetery.

a member of Pennington Chapel
United Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to his

maternal grandmother, Geraldine

of uncles and aunts; and spe

Haynes, 77, died Saturday, May
15, 2010 at her residence.
Born in Franklin County, she
was the daughter of the late
O.V. and Mary Louise Andrews
Owens. She was a member of
Madison Street Baptist Church
and was employed by Blue Bell.
Mrs. Haynes was preceded in
death by her brother, Talmadge
Owens.
Survivors include her daugh

John McClure
MARIETTA - John Michael
McClure, 62, died Tuesday, May
11, 2010, at Hospice Atlanta
with family and friends at his
bedside.
Mr. McClure
was a graduate
of Commerce
High School,
the University of Georgia and
Georgia Tech. He was a United
States Army National Guard vet
eran and had retired after a very
successful 33-year career with
Georgia Power and the Southern
Company. Mr. McClure is the
son of Sara M. McClure and the
late James Daniel McClure.
Survivors in addition to his
mother include his wife, Patricia
McClure, sons, David and John
McClure; brothers, James A.
McClure (Helen), Tullahoma,
Tenn., and Tom McClure (Pat),
Milton, Fla., as well as many
friends and relatives.

‘Bootsie’ McCreadie
JEFFERSON - Rheuamie
“Bootsie" McCreadie, 81, died
Thursday, May 13, 2010.
Born in Clarke County, she was
the daugh
ter of the
late Charlie
William and
Mary Moore
Dotson.
She lived
in Monroe
until 1949
then moved
to Atlanta
where she lived until 1974. She
worked for Thompson, Boland,
Lee for 22 years in Atlanta until
she moved to Sorrento, Fla.,
where she lived until June 2006.
She returned to Georgia to be
closer to her family.
Mrs. McCreadie was preceded
in death by her husband, Ronald
McCreadie; sister, Goldie Speer;
and nephew, Donnie Jones.
Survivors include her sister
and brother-in-law, Mary "Polly"
and Gabriel Kraft, Portland,
Ore.; brother and sister-in-
law, James William and Joyce
Dotson, Cumming; nieces, Joy
McNeill, Vicki Starnes and hus
band Mark, Lindsey and Eden
Starnes; nephews, Jimmy Dotson
and wife, Kelly, and Cody and
Will Dotson.
The family would like to
extend a special heart-filled
thanks to the staff and nurses
at Bentley Assisted Living in
Jefferson, who through their
kindness, friendship and caring
attention, made the last years
of her life enjoyable and full of
laughter. Bootsie loved to tease
and joke with everyone and had
such a sweet spirit about her.
A remembrance service was
held at Bentley Assisted Living,
on Monday, May 17, 2010.

Mary C. Oliver
GAINESVILLE Mary C.
Oliver, last surviving child of the
late Clifford Attaway Chandler
and Lonah Webb Chandler,
died Saturday, May 16, 2010, in
Gainesville, after a long period
of declining health. She was
96 years old. Until her health
required her to move, she was a
longtime resident of Commerce,
and a lifelong member of First
Baptist Church, Commerce. She
loved her God, her family and
friends, and her community,
serving them all unselfishly.
An avid reader, needleworker,
and quilter, the loss of vision in
her 80s was a difficult adjust
ment, but one she made with
good cheer. In her profession
al life, she was a career office
employee at Harmony Grove
Mills. After raising two boys
on her own, she then turned her
attention to her community. She
was a charter member of the
Commerce Pilot Club and was
a community volunteer, visit
ing nursing home patients until
she herself was well into her
80s. Mrs. Oliver was preceded
in death by her six sisters, Mae
Nesbit, Thelma Freeman, Estelle
Moore, Rebecca Chandler, Alma
Dunahoo and Agnes Chandler.
Survivors include her sons
and daughters-in-law, Sam and
Jane Oliver, Gainesville and
Bob and Jean Oliver, Braselton;
grandchildren and spouses,
Eric and Jammie Oliver, Susan
and Scott Brown, and David
Oliver and Shauna DeLong, all
of Gainesville, and Kelly and
David Williams, Atlanta, Cliff
and Brandi Oliver, Braselton,
and Neil and Amanda Oliver,
Hoschton; twelve great-grand
children, the youngest of whom
was bom on May 13 just prior
to her death. All of them called
her Grand Mary, and all of them
considered her just that.
A memorial service will be
held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May
22, in the chapel of Little-Ward
Funeral Home, Commerce, with
Carlton Allen officiating. The
family will receive friends at the
funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the fam
ily requests donations be made
to the First Baptist Church of
Commerce, the Pilot Club of
Commerce, or to your favorite
charity.

2010.
Bom in Hull, he was the son
of the late James E. and Ruby
Brown Sanders. He was an auto
mechanic, retired from Patton
Brothers Automotive and a mem
ber of Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church. Mr. Sanders was pre
ceded in death by his wife of 69
years, Lizzie Sorrow Sanders;
son-in-law, Holman Brown and
grandson, Byron Brown.
Survivors include a daughter,
Betty S. Brown, Hull; grand
daughter, Meliss and Andy
Correll, Hull; great-grandchil
dren, Morgan Power, Joshua
Power, Bryce Correll and Owen
Correll; and a number of other
relatives.

Calvin Smith
HOMER - Calvin Smith, 63,
died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at
Athens Regional Medical Center
following a brief illness.
Bom on May 30, 1946, in
Jackson County, he was the son
of the late Oliver and Maybelle
Baugh Smith. He was the City
Manager of Homer for over 28
years and was an avid golfer,
fisherman and race car driver.
He was of the Baptist denomina
tion. Mr. Smith was preceded
in death by his brother, Eugene
Smith.
Survivors include a daughter
and son-in-law, Judy and Clark
McCarty, Hull; sons and daugh-
ter-in-law, Calvin Todd Smith
and Craig and Jamie Smith, all of
Homer; sister, Geraldine Brake,

11, 2010, at Northeast Georgia
Medical Center in Gainesville.
He was born in Jackson
County, the son of the late
William Johnson and Mattie Lee
Alexander Smith. He was a com
mercial electrician.
Survivors include sons,
Thomas A. Smith and Richard L.
Smith, both of Jefferson; daugh
ters, Donna Patten, Cumming,
and Carla Hill, Commerce;
brothers, John Smith, Athens,
and Kenneth Smith, Homer; and
nine grandchildren.
The body was cremated and
no services are planned at this
time.

Wall Sr., 60, died Thursday, May
13, 2010.
A lifelong resident of
Oglethorpe County, he was the
son of the late William A. Wall
Sr. and Ruth Hanford Wall. He
was retired from Atlanta Gas
Light Company following
37 years of service and was
employed by the Oglethorpe
County Sheriff’s Department as
a deputy. He enjoyed spend
ing time with his grandchildren,
loved ones stated.
Survivors include his wife,
Brenda Hemphill Wall; daughter
and son-in-law, Amy and Brian
Lance, Crawford, son and daugh-
ter-in-law, David A. Wall Jr. and
Selina Wall, Ila; brother and
sister-in-law, William A. Wall Jr.
and Carrie Wall, Athens; sister,
Mable Wall-West, Arnoldsville;
grandchildren, Brooke Adams
and Mason A. Wall; and a num
ber of nieces and nephews.

- James L. Young, 72, died
Saturday, May 8, 2010, at
Landmark Hospital following an
extended illness.
He was born on July 18, 1937,
to Roosevelt Young in Buford
and the late Eula Lee Bennett
Young. He was employed by
Ford Motor Company as a weld
er and retired after thirty-three
and one-half years of service. He
was of the Baptist denomination.
Mr. Young was preceded in death
by a daughter. Erica Young; and
brothers, Bobby Young, Steve
Young and Ricky Young.
Survivors in addition to his
father include his loving wife,
Mary Young, Flowery Branch; a
son, Derry Young, Gainesville;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Debbie Young, Flowery Branch,
Dee and Felton Shelton and
Lynn and Dennis Meaders, all of
Gainesville, Sherrie and David
Jones, Macon,; seven grandchil
dren; brother, Larry Young and
Lanory Young, both of Buford,

miss him dearly.

AUBURN — Sue Tullis
Aldridge, 71, died Monday, May
17, 2010. Mrs. Aldridge was the
daughter of the late Bonnie R. and
Jennie Mae Maddox Tullis. She
had resided in Barrow County
for most of her life and was a
longtime member of Bethabra
Baptist Church. Mrs. Aldridge
served as a receptionist at The
Wages Law Firm in Winder.
Survivors include her hus
band. Kenneth Aldridge, Auburn;
sons and daughters-in-law, Ken
and Laura Aldridge, Auburn,
and Chris and Holly Aldridge,
Jefferson; grandchildren, Bo
Aldridge, Jenni Aldridge, Hop
Aldridge, Max Aldridge and
Anni Aldridge.

held Thursday, May 20, at 2
p.m., from the Chapel of Carter
Funeral Home, with Rev. Landon
Frymire officiating. Burial will
be in Bethabra Baptist Church
Cemetery. The family will

May 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Carter

Lola Bell Stinchcomb
HOSCHTON - Lola Bell
Gaddis Stinchcomb, 89, died
Monday, May 17, 2010.
Born in Barrow County, she
was the daughter of the late
Marlin and Onie Gaddis. She was
a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist
Church and attended Hoschton
Church of God of Prophecy. She
worked hard all of her life as
a mother, homemaker and also
worked on the farm, loved ones
stated. Mrs. Stinchcomb was
preceded in death by her hus
band. Robert Stinchcomb; a son,
R.B. Stinchcomb; and grandson,
Jeff Clark.
Survivors include sons.
Bud Stinchcomb and Charles
Stinchcomb, both of Hoschton;
daughters, Johnnie Cole, Auburn,
Martha Bartlett, Braselton, Sybil
Clark, Hoschton, Cathy Greeson
and Jackie Sims, both of Winder;
brother, J.C. Gaddis, Cleveland,
Tenn.; sister, Viola Cronic,
Hoschton; 17 grandchildren,
