‘Dodge’ Brown
DANIELSVILLE - John
William “Dodge” Brown, 92,
died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at
the Athens Regional Medical
Center in Athens.
Born in Franklin County on
March 23, 1918, he was the
son of the late Lonnie Carl
and Sara Ethel Little Brown.
He was a carpenter and was
a member of the New Haven
Holiness Church. Mr. Brown
was preceded in death by his
wife, Willie Smith Brown.
Survivors include sons,
L.C. Brown and Don Brown,
both of Danielsville, and
Lee Brown, Auburn; daugh
ters, Ophelia Myran Lewis,
Auburn, Jeanette Cleveland
and Kay Meadows, both
of Danielsville, and Willie
Herman, Lawrenceville;
20 grandchildren; 38 great
grandchildren; and 17 great-
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, May 25, from the
New Haven Holiness Church
with the Revs. Ellis Cooper
and Tracy Gipson officiating.
Burial was in the church cem
etery.

Nan Carter
WINDER - Nan Carter, 76,
died Sunday, May 23, 2010.
Born in Wilcox County,
she was the daughter of the
late Cecil and Gladys Wright
Whitaker. She was preced
ed in death by her husband,
Grayden E. Carter; and a son,
Patrick Carter. Mrs. Carter
was a former member of the
Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary
and a retired seamstress and
cook. A member of Eastside
Baptist Church, she taught
Sunday school for 17 years
and youth for three years.
She did volunteer work as a
Pink Lady at the Fitzgerald
Dorminy Medical Center and
at the Wilcox Public Library.
She was also a member of
the Martha McCloud UDC of
Wilcox County.
Survivors include sons,
Shaughn Carter, Winder,
Shannon Carter, Norwich,
Conn., and Ian Carter, Decatur;
daughters, Nancy Ray, Winder
and Jennifer Emmerling,
Lawrenceville; 11 grandchil
dren; six great-grandchildren;
brothers, Irwin Whitaker,
Huntsville, Ala. and Travis
Whitaker, Fayetteville; sisters
Betty Galbrith, Somers, Conn,
and Carlese Wood, Somers,
Conn.; and many nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday, May 29, at 11 a.m.
from Smith Memory Chapel
with the Rev. Darrell Gilmer
officiating. Burial will be in
Barrow Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends
at the funeral home Friday,
May 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Mathews Smith. She was a
retired supervisor with Comer
Manufacturing Company and
a lifelong member of Carlton
Baptist Church. Mrs. Cooper
was preceded in death by
her husband, Oliver David
Cooper; and a brother, James
C. Smith.

sister, Mauline Drew, Carlton;
brothers, Lester T. Smith

Georgia.
Born on January 14, 1930,
in Hall County, she was the
daughter of the late Lee
and Essie Canup. She was
employed with Martha Mills
where she worked for 27
years as a seamstress. Mrs.
Creamer was a member of the
Thomaston Church of God.
Survivors include several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday, May 29, at 2 p.m.
from the chapel of Coggins
Funeral Home. Burial will be
in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The
family will receive friends at
the funeral home Friday, May
28, from 5 to 8 p.m.

JEFFERSON - Robin Lee
Fletcher, 43, died Saturday,
May 22, 2010.
Born on March 7, 1967,
in Athens, he was the son of
Harold and Guynelle Gaines
Fletcher of Jefferson. He
enjoyed animals, particularly
dogs, working at several ken
nels. He also enjoyed spend
ing time with his seven nieces
and nephews. Mr. Fletcher
was preceded in death by
grandparents, Clarence and
Macy Gaines and Edgar and
Ann Fletcher.
Survivors in addition to his
parents include a sister and
brother-in-law, Jan and David
Carithers, Commerce; broth
ers and sisters-in-law, Ray
and Wendy Fletcher, Canton,
Jon and Crystal Fletcher,
Jefferson; and several aunts,
uncles, cousins, nieces and
nephews.

Athens Business College. She
was a homemaker and was
a member of Hoschton First
Baptist Church, Hoschton
Women’s Civic Club, Hoschton
Rebekah Lodge #98 and the
Jackson County Historical
Society. Mrs. Freeman was
preceded in death by a sister,
Therese Legg, Commerce.
Survivors include her
husband of 71 years, Ralph
Freeman Jr., Hoschton; daugh
ters and sons-in-law, Jo Nan
and Bill Warwick, Hoschton,
and Pat and Bill Hardin,
Mount Holly, N.C.; grand
children, Todd Hardin, Dallas,
Texas, Chuck Furlong, Austin,
Texas, Steve Hardin, Frisco,
Texas and Connie Decker,
Columbus, N.C.; eight great
grandchildren; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Martha and

Church and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Garrett was preceded in
death by her husband, Methel
L. Garrett.

Charles Morrison, Commerce;
and son and daughter-in-

He was a United States
Army veteran of World War
II, a 50-year Master Mason,
a 50-year Lions
Fellow and a
District 18A
Hall of Fame
Member of the
Jasper Lions Club. He had
been a member of the Jasper
United Methodist Church for
over 50 years. The Cochran-
Garrison Building was named
in his honor. Mr. Garrison was
preceded in death by his wife,
Polly Garrison.
Survivors include his wife,
Betty Garrison; sons and
daughters-in-law. Bob and
Linda Garrison, Orlando, Fla.,
and Mike and Donna Garrison,
Jasper; grandchildren, Kristin
Kelting, DeBary, Fla., and
Kelly Finogle, Virginia Beach,

a veteran having served in the

William Huey McGilvary and

He was retired

United States
Army where he
served tours of
duty in the Korean Conflict
and the Vietnam War. Mr.
McGilvary was a member of
the Bluestone Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife,

Danielsville and Kathy Widner,

years of service. Mr. Morrow

Cumuze, all of Danielsville;
brother and sister-in-law, Gary
and Sybil Nash, Danielsville;
