PRESENTATION TO EJCHS JUNIOR ROTC
Nicholson Mayor Ronnie Maxwell and council member Howard Wilbanks pre
sented a framed picture to LTC Tom Taylor, SFC Rudy Mejias and students of
the Junior ROTC department. LTC Taylor and SFC Mejias provided the opening
remarks, invocation and the key-note speech at the dedication of the Veterans’
Memorial in Nicholson last fall. Pictured are cadets in the Junior ROTC program
and Senior Leadership students from EJCHS. The framed presentation includes
two copies of the memorial program, candid shots of the color guard and detail
laying a wreath at the memorial, and The Jackson Herald clippings of the event. The
picture will become a permanent part of the JROTC department at East Jackson
Comprehensive High School.

DONATED VEHICLE HELPS DRIVER’S ED STUDENTS
The driver’s education students at Jackson County Comprehensive High School
benefited from a 2008 Ford Taurus donated by Akins Ford, Winder, according to
school leaders. The vehicle — which was provided by Chris Akins at the dealership
— served 150 students in driver’s education classes at JCCHS. Without the donated
vehicle from Akins Ford, JCCHS would have canceled its driver’s education program
for the 2009-2010 school year.
