Local students named
to ABAC’S dean’s list
Local students were named to the 2010 spring term dean's list
at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Those students are: Morgan S. Mather, Commerce; Joshua C.
Thurmond, Jefferson; and Daniel L. Simmons, Pendergrass.
Students on the dean’s list attained a minimum grade point
average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale and carried at least 12 hours of
academic work.
Area students earn degrees
CRUM RECOGNIZED
Jefferson Academy student Avrie Crum is shown
with her third grade teacher, Renee Mims, and her
father, Greg Crum. Crum received the gold award
for the year at a recent award ceremony. She made
straight A’s for every grading period. Crum was also
recognized for being the only third grader to make a
perfect score in math and reading on the CRCT.
KIMMEL HONORED AT JMS
Jefferson Middle School named Daniel Kimmel
one of its 2010 winners of the Howard McGlennen
Award, which honors two eighth grade students
who have demonstrated all-around excellence
in academics, athletics, arts and public service.
Students are selected by all JMS teachers in sixth
through eighth grades.
FEEMAN HONORED
Jefferson Academy student Laura Leigh Feeman is
shown with her third grade teacher, Renee Mims,
and paraprofessional Angie Jacobs, after receiving
a gold award for the year at a recent award cer
emony. Feeman made straight A’s for every grading
period.
EAGER HONORED AT JMS
Jefferson Middle School named Emily Eager one of

Local students honored
at Young Harris College
Young Harris College has honored several area students,
some of whom recently received degrees.
Ansleigh Margaret Bratek, Hoschton, was named to the
dean’s list for spring semester. Students who earn a 3.5 grade
point average or better are named to the dean’s list.
Bratek was also awarded an associate of science degree in
education. She is a graduate of Jefferson High School.
Josiah Samuel Bridges, a graduate of Jackson County
Comprehensive High School, was named to the dean's list. He
is the son of Sidney and Suzanne Bridges, Jefferson.
Victoria Jeanette Sink, a graduate of Hebron Christian
Academy, was named to the dean's list. She is the daughter of
Scott and Tina Sink, Hoschton.
Lauren Alayne Tanner was named to the dean’s list and she
was awarded an associate of science degree in science.
Tanner is a graduate of Mill Creek High School. She is the
daughter of Jim and Joni Anthony, Hoschton; and Greg and
Betsy Tanner, Lawrenceville.
Jonathon Clay Pursley, Jefferson, was awarded an associate
of fine arts degree in art. He is a graduate of Jefferson High
School.

PUBLIC NOTICE
DESTRUCTION OF RECORDS
FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
The Jefferson City Schools Department of Special Education
announces its intention to destroy specific data. Records will be
destroyed that were collected, maintained, or used in the
provision of a free appropriate public education for students
with disabilities in Jefferson City Schools. This notice is in
compliance with the system's comprehensive plan for special
education required by PL 94-142.
Records on students who enrolled in a special education
program and became 27 years of age between January 1, 1983
and December 31, 1983 are no longer needed for educational
planning purposes. These records may be needed by the
student or parent for Social Security or other reasons. The
system plans to destroy these records on July 6, 2010, unless
there has been a request for a due process hearing, under PL
94-142 or a complaint filed with the Office of Civil Rights under
section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
If you, as the student or parents of the student, desire copies
of these records prior to destruction, please contact Jefferson
City Schools Office of Special Education at (706) 367-5209. You
will be required to produce identification or provide verification
information.
