Carter, 71, died Monday, June
1, 2010.
Born in Baltimore, Md., he
was the son of the late Wesley
L. and Marie J.
Carter. He had
served in the
United States
Air Force and
had been employed by Wal-
Mart.
Survivors include sisters,
Margaret Stewart and Raberta
Knight, both of Monroe,
La., and Rose E. Stepanek,
Statham; 12 nieces and neph
ews; and eight great-nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be held
at a later date. The body will be
cremated.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder,
is in charge of arrangements.

JEFFERSON - Myron Ray
Chapman, 68, died Saturday,
June 5, 2010.
Born in Hoschton on October
19, 1941, he was the son of the
late George Herman and Johnie
Lois Bradberry Chapman. Mr.
Chapman was retired from
the U.S. Post Office in Athens
where he was Director of Mail
Processing and was a veteran
having served in
the United States
Navy.
Survivors
include his sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Matthew and
Katie Chapman, Cumming,
and Chris and Kim Chapman,
Jefferson; friend, Sherrie B.
Floyd, Jefferson; brother. Mack
Chapman, Athens; and grand
children, Dustin and Hanna
Chapman.

Monday, June 7, in the chapel
of Evans Funeral Home with
the Rev. William Whitfield
officiating.

Barbara Doss
HOMER - Barbara Brewer
Doss, 82, died Tuesday, June
8, 2010, at Northeast Georgia
Medical Center following a
brief illness.
Born on May 11, 1928,
in Hall County, she was the
daughter of the late George
Bunion and Sylvia Lucille
Savage Brewer. She attended
Line Baptist Church and was
a retired nurse’s aide. She
enjoyed sewing and sharing
with others. Mrs. Doss was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
Robert Clinton Doss; a broth
er, H.W. “Buddy” Brewer; an
infant brother, Albert Ronald
Brewer; and an infant sister,
Lucille Brewer.
She was a loving wife,
mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother and will be
greatly missed by her family
and friends, loved ones stated.
Survivors include a daughter
and son-in-law, Jeanette and
Jim Bryant, Homer; son and
daughter-in-law, Leroy and
Deborah Everette, Homer; sis
ter, Geraldine Brown, Homer;
sister-in-law, Betty Brewer,
Lula; nine grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and sev
eral nieces, nephews and cous
ins.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, June 10, at 2 p.m.,
from Whitefield Funeral Home,
South Chapel, with the Rev.
Kenneth McEntire officiating.
Graveside services will be held
at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 11,
from the Level Cross United
Methodist Church in Dobson,
N.C., with the Revs. Kenneth
McEntire and Clayton Tilley
officiating. The family will
receive friends at the funeral
home Wednesday, June 9, from
7 to 9 p.m.

Evans, 96, died Tuesday, June
1, 2010, at Peachtree Village.
Born in Jackson County she
was the daughter of the late
James N. and Mary Elizabeth
Short Edwards. She was a
member of Mt. Olive Baptist
Church and was a Wal-Mart
greeter. Mrs. Evans was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
Hoke S. Evans; and grandchil
dren, Emily Hill Coker and Bill
Perry.
Survivors include a son,
Harvey Evans, Del Rio,
Tenn.; daughters, Betty Waller
and Phyllis Jones, both of
Commerce; five grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren; and 12
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Friday, June 4, from the Mt.
Olive Baptist Church with the
Revs. Derry Oliver and Verlin
Reece officiating. Burial was in
the Short Family Cemetery.

Graham, 67, died Thursday,
June 3, 2010 at St. Mary’s
Hospice House.
Born in Danielsville, he was
the son of the late William
Rufus and Molly Jordan
Graham. He was retired from
Logan's Paving Company.
Survivors include chil
dren, Angela Graham Doster,
Smiths, Ala., and Tony Graham,
Danielsville; sisters, Martha
(Hugh) Adams and Mae Sue
Childers, both of Danielsville;
grandchildren, Kindal Klein,
Drew Doster and Chris
Graham; great-grandchildren,
Christopher and Caitlyn Klein;
and a number of nieces and
nephews.

Monday, June 7, at Lord &
Stephens Danielsville Chapel
with Mr. Thomas Hilley offi
ciating. Burial was at Shiloh
Baptist Church Cemetery in Ila.

Dorothy “Dot” Weirauch
Hayes, 86, died Wednesday,
June 2, 2010.
A native of Oconee County,
she was the daughter of the
late Henry and Leona Maxey
Porterfield. She was a lifelong
resident of Oconee County and
was a member of Watkinsville
Christian Church. Mrs. Hayes
was preceded in death by two
husbands, Charles Weirauch
and Shelnutt Hayes; a brother
and sister-in-law, Henry “Ford”
and Beverly Porterfield.
Survivors include a daugh
ter and son-in-law, Vicki and
Mike Martin, Watkinsville;
son and daughter-in-law, Doug
and Susan Weirauch, Bogart;
brothers and sisters-in-law,
Billy and Juanita Porterfield,
Watkinsville, and Bobby and
Marion Porterfield, Bishop; sis
ter and brother-in-law, Doris and
Gene Thornton, Watkinsville;
four grandchildren, Wade and
Nichole Martin, Wes and Dana
Martin, Nicole Weirauch and
Michelle Weirauch; four great
grandchildren, Caroline Martin,
Catie Mae Martin, Reid Martin
and Lilli Martin; and numerous
nieces and nephews.

‘Tim’ McDaniel
James Timothy ‘Tim’
McDaniel, 47, passed away
Friday, May 21, 2010.
Born June 21, 1962, he was
a lifelong resident of Barrow
County and was preceded in
death by his father, Bennie
Jack McDaniel; mother, Shirley
Mae McDaniel; and brother,
Smokey Joe McDaniel.
Tim was
a loving
husband
and father
and will be
missed ter
ribly. He
was also
a great
friend and
was liked
by all who
knew him. Tim was an avid
NASCAR fan, loved to ride
his Harley, fish, hunt and go
camping.
Survivors include his wife,
Rita Dale McDaniel; son
James Steven McDaniel; moth-
er-in-law, Myran Lewis; sev
eral nieces and nephews, great-
nieces, great-nephews, aunts,
uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be
held Saturday, June 12, at 4
p.m. at Union Baptist Church,
527 Union Church Rd.,
Winder, GA 30680. Pastor Ed
Strickland will officiate.

Mize, 81, died Tuesday, June
1, 2010.
Born in Hart County on
January 12, 1929, he was the
son of the late Otha C. and
Quillie Winn Mize. He was
a farmer and member of the
Holly Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Mize was preceded in death
by brothers, Julius, Lee, Ernest,
Warren and Wilbur Mize; and
two sisters, Dora Whitmire and
Alice Todd.
Survivors include his wife,
Gloria Jennell Campbell Mize,
Bowman; sons and daughters-
in-law, Jimmy and Sandra
Mize, Hartwell, Gene Mize and
Terrie Hart, Comer, Lyndon and

Loma Olson
ATHENS - Loma Olson,
99, died peacefully on Sunday,
June 6, 2010, surrounded by
her family.
Born in rural Big Stone
County, Minn., on May 28,
1911, she had made her home
in Georgia with her daugh
ter, Vonnie Zimmermn, and
beloved son-in-law, Arlan, for
the last 41 years. Mrs. Olson
was preceded in death by her
husband, Vernal Olson; a son,
Roger; grandchild, Danny
Olson; six brothers; and two
sisters.
Survivors include grandsons,
Keith (Ashley) Zimmerman
and Brad (Becky) Zimmerman;
great-grandchildren, Sybil,
Zachary, Abigail, Bryce and
Olivia Zimmerman; and five
grandchildren, 14 great-grand
children and five great-great-
grandchildren in Minnesota.

wife, Brenda Stowe.

seven grandchildren.
Mr. Stowe will be cremated
and a private family service

O. “Bob” Wilkins, 86, died
Thursday, June 3, 2010.
Born on August 19, 1923, in
Addison, Ala., he was the son
of the late Henry Lee and Lillie
Mae Johnson Wilkins. He was
retired from the United States
Air Force where he served in
World War II and the Korean
War. After retiring from the
Air Force, he worked as a field
supervisor for
Georgia area
with the 1
Georgia State Fire Marshal’s
Office. He also worked as a
car dealer. Mr. Wilkins was
preceded in death by brothers,
Howard and Willard Wilkins.
Survivors include his wife
of 54 years, Clozelle Wright
Wilkins, Jefferson; son and
daughter-in-law, Bobby and
Sharon Wilkins, Jefferson;
brother, Fred Wilkins,
Addison, Ala.; aunt, Trixie
Cobb, Addison, Ala.; sister-in-
law, Vergie Wilkins Mashburn,
Addison, Ala.; grandchildren,
Casey and Corey Wilkins,
