Kroger donates $3,000 to
students and middle school
KROGER ATLANTA
Division has donated a total of
$3,000 to two area graduating
high school seniors and one
middle school that earned the
grocer’s Earning Plus Learning
rewards.
Christine Vaughn of Jackson
County Comprehensive High
School and Erin Roberts of
Jefferson High School were
each given a $1,000 scholar
ship from Kroger.
West Jackson Middle School
was also given a $1,000 award
from the grocer.
The annual program invited
the schools and graduating
high school seniors to creative
ly demonstrate how they stay
“active” mentally, physically
and within their communities.
Earning Plus Learning
entries took the form of scrap
books, photos, videos, essays,
newspaper clippings and more.
All entries were reviewed by
a panel of judges comprised
of local and regional commu
nity leaders and the Kroger
Community Involvement
Team.
Graduating high school
seniors from throughout the
Atlanta Division were awarded
$1,000 Earning Plus Learning
scholarships to help pay for
two- or four-year accredited
colleges, universities, technical
or trade schools. The elemen
tary and middle school winners
either won $2,500 or $1,000.
WINS BIKE FOR READING
Melody Heu, a fourth grader at Benton Elementary
School, recently won a new bike that was donated
by Jackson EMC, the school’s Partner in Education.
Melody won the bike by reading lots of books and meet
ing her AR goals.
