residence.

daughter of Eugene "Gene"

Annie Lee Brown House. She
was of the Baptist denomina
tion and worked for Wal-Mart
Distribution.

died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at
Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Gillsville on May 31,
1926, she was the daughter of the
late W. Otis and Margie Patton
Brewer. She was a member of
Shady Grove Baptist Church in
Belton, S.C. Mrs. Broome was
preceded in death by her hus
band, Ralph P. Broome; brothers,
Ralph, Jack and Aubrey Brewer;
and a sister, Mozelle Bellamy.
Survivors include daughters,
Regenia Ashley and husband,
Roger, and Janetta Escoe, all
of Belton, S.C.; sister, Marcus
Parks, Athens; grandchildren,
Brian Ashley, Kristi Marett,
Brandon Ashley, Bradley Escoe
and Amanda Lollis; great-grand
children, Walker Ashley, Oliver
Marett, Cameron Ashley and
Olivia Marett.

Thursday, July 1, at 3 p.m., from
the chapel of Cox Funeral Home
with Roger Branch and the Rev.

Burial will be at Shady Grove
Baptist Church cemetery. The

prior to the service from 1 p.m.

County, she was the daughter of
the late John Nicholas and Mattie
Phillips Irvin. She was a retired
seamstress and was a member
of White Plains Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bryant was preceded in
death by her husband, Lillious
Bryant.
Survivors include her son,
Robert Bryant, Jefferson, step
son, Sayral Bryant, Winder; one
grandson, two step-granddaugh

grandson.

Hix Edgmon, 54, died Monday,
June 28, 2010.
Bom in Athens, she was the
daughter of the late Vincent
Joseph and Mary Ellen Wilkes
Hix. She graduated summa
cum laude with a Bachelor’s of
Science in Education from the
University of Georgia, where she
also received her Master’s of
Education. She retired from the
Madison County School System
after teaching for 30 years and
was a proud Ila Elementary
Gator. She was a member of
the Gordon’s Chapel United
Methodist Church in Sanford.
Elena was a loving wife, sister
and aunt. She was a nurturing
grandmother and enjoyed spend
ing time with her family and
friends. Elena was sweet-spirited
and fun loving, always thinking
of others and making them feel
special.
Survivors include her hus
band, Richard Edgmon; three
stepchildren, Chris, Curtis and
Angela Edgmon; granddaugh
ters, Christina and Caty Edgmon;
siblings, Stanley (Sharon) Hix,

Holiness Church. Mrs. Hall was

2010 at Morton Plant Hospital in
Clearwater, Fla.
Born in Detroit, Mich., he was
the son of Donald Ray Kailing

Weatherly. He was a truck driver
for Estes Trucking and was a
member of Millstone Baptist
Church.

Louise Kranzberg
ATLANTA - Louise Lester
(Clark) Kranzberg, 81, died
Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at
Northeast Georgia Medical
Center in Gainesville.
Born in Sanford, Fla., on
February 11, 1929, she was the
daughter of the late Lillian and
John Clark. She graduated from
the Georgia State College for
Women in Milledgeville, where,
upon arrival, her friends first
began to call her "Les."
She earned both a master’s
and a specialist’s degree in edu
cation from the University of
Georgia. She was then honored
by a scholarship from the Rotary
Club of Cobb County to study
at the University of Freiberg in
Germany.
Les had a lifelong passion for
helping others. She worked as an
educator specializing in teaching
reading to students from around
the world, both young and
adult. While serving as princi
pal of Belmont Hills Elementary
School, she met and married Dr.
Melvin Kranzberg.
She served as a member of
the Board of Trustees at her
alma mater, now named Georgia
College & State University, and
was honored by the establish
ment of the Kranzberg Phoenix
Scholarship. Along with Mel’s
colleagues and generous support
ers, Les was involved in estab
lishing the permanent Kranzberg
Professorship in the History of
Technology at Georgia Tech.
Survivors include children,
Reed Catlett, Raymond Catlett,
David Catlett; and granddaugh
ter, Christina.
Graveside services were held
Saturday, June 26, at Arlington
Memorial Park in Atlanta.

Long, 78, died Monday, June
21, 2010, at Athens Regional
Medical Center.
A native of Madison County,
she was born on March 10, 1932,
the daughter of the late Roscoe
H. and Vallie Ree Bennett Long.
After graduation from Ila High
School, she moved to the Atlanta
area and worked as a bookkeeper
until her retirement. She enjoyed
the last 13 years living in the
home place next door to her
sister. She loved attending the
Evangelical Methodist Church.
Rowena loved and was loved
by so many of her family and
friends who affectionately called
her "Aunt Row."
Survivors include a sister and
brother-in-law, Irene and Buddy
Sexton, Danielsville; sisters, Nita
Coile and Merle Logue, both
of Cumming; several nieces and
nephews; several great-nieces
and nephews; and a special aunt,
Idelle Short, Kannapolis, N.C.

Joseph Clifford Seanor Jr., United
States Air Force (Ret.), 84, died
Friday, June 18, 2010.
Born in New Bedford, Mass.,
he had lived in the metro Atlanta
area for the past 14 years. He
served 30 years active duty with
the United States Air Force during
World War II, Korea and Vietnam,
assigned to the Pentagon and also
as Vice Commander of the 459
Tactical Airlift Wing, Reserve
Unit at Andrews Air Force Base.
Mr. Seanor
also worked for
AT&T and then
the GSA helping
to develop the
FTS 2000 system for the United
States Government. He was a
member of Masonic Lodge #447
F&AM in Atlanta and a mem
ber of St. Mary and St. Martha
of Bethany Episcopal Church,
Buford. Mr. Seanor was preced
ed in death by his wife, Sara
Seanor.
Survivors include daughters
and sons-in-law, Patricia and
Larry Bell. Braselton, Jane and
Jimmy Pulliam, Covington; son
and daughter-in-law, Joe and

a housekeeper and a member

Jefferson, where she served as a
dedicated usher since her child
hood.

and Bobby Watson and Jane

host of nieces and nephews.

‘Pop’ Tyner
COLBERT - William Dwaine
“Pop" Tyner, 81, died Wednesday,
June 23, 2010, at his residence.
His was an amazing life filled
with adventure and family. He
was a self-taught guitarist, singer
of folk and gospel songs and
filled with a wonderful sense
of humor. He was a loving hus
band, devoted father and the best
barber ever to hold a pair of scis
sors. So well established was his
business, that it is still hard to
find a person young or old who
hasn’t had their hair cut by hint
at least once. In his spare time
he loved to go to North Carolina
trout fishing, but he mostly kept
close to home where he and his
wife, Ida, raised three sons. He
has left a legacy of memories that
will always be with us. Mr. Tyner
was preceded in death by a son,
Keith Tyner; and a grandson, Lee
Tyner.
Survivors include his lovely
wife, Ida Kesler Tyner, whom
he celebrated 60 years of mar
riage on June 7; sons, Kenneth
Tyner, wife Angelia, Mark Tyner,
wife Jeannie, and Grant Tyner,
wife Lise; grandchildren, Mimi,
Audre, Jim, Brandon, Spence,
Joel, Harrison, Isak, Joshua and
Kaja.

eight grandchildren; four step-
grandchildren; and several neph
ews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, June 29, at the Pleasant
Hill Baptist Church in Clayton.
Burial was in the church cem
etery with the Revs. Raymond
Page and Steve Parker officiat
ing.
Hunter Funeral Home, Clayton,
was in charge of arrangements.
