Incidents reported in Maysville
THE MAYSVILLE Police
Department reported two
incidents last week, includ
ing the following:
•suspicious activity at a
Lactory Street residence.
The complainant reported
she came home, went inside,
came back out to walk her
dog and noticed her GPS was
missing. The complainant
advised she felt like some
one was watching her from
the woods.
•verbal dispute at a West
Ridgeway Road residence.
The complainant reported
his sister was verbally fight
ing with their mother who
has mental disorders. The
complainant advised his sis
ter, who also has mental dis
orders, would not leave and
he called 911.
One fatality in wreck
ONE FATALITY was
reported in a wreck Friday on
Commerce Road near Elwyn
Barrett Road.
Units from Harrisburg Fire/
Rescue and Jackson County
EMS responded to 3796
Commerce Road, Jefferson,
on a reported automobile
accident with injuries. Upon
arrival, they found a one-vehi
cle accident with entrapment
of two people, one female
and one male.
Jeremi Wilson, 32, was
pronounced dead at the scene
and the passenger, Aretha
Reid, 42, Commerce, was
extricated and transported
to Athens Regional Medical
Center with multiple injuries
and listed in serious condi
tion.
According to the Georgia
State Patrol, Wilson had a
seizure and hit the accelerator
which caused him to hit an
embankment.

\Four arrested in burglaries at Pendergrass Flea Market
THE JEFFERSON Police
Department’s Criminal
Investigation Division recent
ly investigated two burglar
ies that occurred at The
Pendergrass Flea Market on
May 25 and 28.
The investigations led
investigators to the arrest of
six individuals, who all con
fessed to committing the bur
glaries. Investigators recov
ered most of the stolen items
taken from an electronics ven
dor inside the Flea Market.
Jefferson Investigators worked
with the Gainesville Police
Department, who had been
investigating similar burglar
ies.
All six individuals are resi
dents of Gainesville. Two of
the suspects that were arrested
are juveniles. Their ages were
13 and 15. The four other sus
pects who have been arrested
are: Rodolfo Rivas, 19, 1101
Paces Court, Gainesville;
Victor Aron Ayala-Alarion,
18, 3778 Harmony Church
Road, Gainesville; George
Rivas, 17, 2191 Lee Land
Road, Gainesville; and George
Conteras-Gonzalez, 20, 2663
Glendale Drive, Gainesville.
All suspects have been
charged with burglary and
felony theft by taking.
The stolen property was
returned to the vendor.
Children playing with fireworks listed as cause of fire
441 Highland Way in Maysville on a reported residential fire.
Firefighters found a single-family residence with a fire located
on the front porch.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the damage was con
tained to the porch area. No injuries were reported.
State Court results given
CHILDREN playing with fireworks apparently led to a fire
on Wednesday, June 23, on the front porch of a Maysville
home.

Teenager charged in theft
THE JEFFERSON Police
Department's Criminal
Investigation Division
recently investigated an
entering auto investigation
that occurred on June 6, at
Freightliner of Atlanta on Dry
Pond Road.
Three vehicles that were
being serviced had been bro
ken into and items had been
taken from the vehicles. The
items taken were CB radios,
in-dash stereos, DVD players,
GPS units and a flat screen
TV.
Investigators discovered
that the suspect had attempted
to sell two of the CBs and had
left his name and number with
that individual. Investigators
contacted the suspect posing
as someone interested in buy
ing the CBs and set up a
meeting at the Quick Trip in
Jefferson. When the suspect
arrived, two patrol units and
an investigator took the sus
pect into custody and recov
ered one of the stolen CBs.
Investigators interviewed
the suspect and he took them
to a location in the county
where they recovered other
items taken from the vehicles
at Freightliner of Atlanta.
The suspect was identified
as Nicholas D. Wilbanks, 17,
Nicholson. The other suspect
that was with him is a juve
nile, age 16. Charges include
three counts of entering auto,
felony theft by taking and
criminal trespass.
