Theft, property damage among incidents reported to JC Sheriff’s Office
INCIDENTS reported to the Jackson County Sheriff's office last week included the fol
lowing:
•a Winder Hwy., Jefferson, woman said a man purchased $1,628 worth of pine straw from
her and has not paid for it.
•a Pleasant Acres Drive, Maysville, woman said she left her vehicle with a man she knows
and he sold it without her permission.
•a Harmony Grove Church Road, Gillsville, woman said someone damaged her vehicle
while it was parked in her yard. The windshield was cracked.
•a Rock Forge Lane, Jefferson, woman said her boyfriend made a rude comment about her
cooking and she threw it in his face and went to a neighbor's house. When she returned, he
had locked the door and would not let her in. The deputy told her to find somewhere else to
go for the night.
•leaf blower stolen from the backseat of a vehicle at a Hwy. 15, Jefferson, location.
•a Holiday Cemetery Road man said when a renter moved out of a mobile home that he
owns they damaged the power pole and stole three air condition units.
•a Windy Hill Road woman said someone took the lugs off of the right tire of her vehi
cle.
•a Holiday Cemetery Road, Jefferson, woman said she and her husband got into an argu
ment after she confronted him about not coming home one night. She said he became irate
and grabbed a broom and broke a light. She said he then ran from the home.
•domestic dispute at a Holly Springs Road, Maysville, where a woman slashed the tires of
a woman’s car.
•threatening phone calls at a Red Oak Road, Maysville, residence.
•weights and a bench press taken from the yard of a Groaning Rock Road, Commerce,
residence.
•a MLK Jr. Drive woman said that she and her boyfriend got into an argument and he
pushed her to the ground.
•theft of jewelry from a Ryan Road, Athens, residence.
•a Feld Spar Drive, Jefferson, woman said her ex-husband is harassing her.
•a Commerce woman said her boyfriend slapped her and threatened her at a tent where they
have been living off of Woods Bridge Road.
•road rage and reckless conduct at a Hwy. 98 area when a woman said a man in another
vehicle fired a gun.
•several items taken from an Athens Street, Jefferson, home. The thief entered the home
by breaking out a back window.
•theft by conversion at a Hwy. 124, Jefferson, address where a manager at Money Max
Title Pawn, Commerce, said his company had a $350 lien on a 1986 Mazda. The manager
said he learned that the car was possibly sold to Jones Salvage, which said the car had been
brought to the salvage company in February. However, Jones Salvage couldn't confirm if the
vehicle had been crushed or was still on the site. The manager of Money Max Title Pawn said
his company wants to prosecute the case.
•burglary at a Hwy. 124, Jefferson, address, where a woman said someone entered her
house during the day. A back door window pane was broken to access a lock on the door. The
suspects rummaged through the house and stole several items. The items included a 30-year-
old set of silverware, a plastic container with about $600 worth of gifts for family members,
a watch, assorted jewelry, medications, a drawer, and collectible baby spoons and forks. The
items were valued at a total of $2,415.
•battery at a Billie Dean Drive, Jefferson, address, where a woman said her boyfriend hit
her during recent arguments. The woman is nine months pregnant.
•simple battery at a Davenport Road, Braselton, address, where a woman said she got into
an argument with a man about a TV. The man pushed her and she left the residence to call
911 at a neighbor’s house.
•criminal trespass at a Clover Mill Road, Jefferson, address, where a man said someone
damaged his mailbox.
•damage to property at a Plainview Road, Maysville, address, where a man said someone
damaged his fence during the evening. The man also found an unoccupied pickup truck about
a 100 yards down his driveway. The truck was towed from the property. A deputy couldn't
contact the owner of the truck by phone.
•criminal trespass at a Woodpecker Lane, Nicholson, address where a woman said some
one left fresh coffee in her car. The woman said nothing was missing from the unlocked
vehicle.
•DUI at U.S. Hwy. 129, Athens, where a deputy spotted a vehicle weaving on the road. An
Athens woman was charged with DUI.
•DUI at U.S. Hwy. 129, Jefferson, where a deputy spotted a vehicle weaving on the road.
A Bethlehem man was charged with DUI.
•public drunkenness at a U.S. Hwy. 129, Jefferson, address, where a man was arrested for
public drunkenness after a witness said he saw several people walking behind his neighbor's
house.
•agency assist at a River Chase, Talmo, address, an off-duty Gwinnett County officer
reported that he was driving behind another vehicle with a possible drunk driver. The officer
later talked to the people in the vehicle after it stopped at a residence. The driver said they
weren't drunk and they actually thought the officer was a drunk driver following them. The
people in the vehicle didn't know the driver behind them was an officer.
•criminal damage at a Hillside Drive, Jefferson, address, where a man said someone made
several scratches on his vehicle during the night. The man suspected who may have been
involved, but he didn’t provide a name.
•speeding on 1-85, Jefferson, where a Chamblee man was arrested for driving 86 m.p.h. on
the interstate. The man also didn’t have a driver's license.
•driving with a suspended license on 1-85, Jefferson, a North Carolina resident driving 85
m.p.h. on the interstate was arrested for speeding and driving with a suspended license.
•agency assist at Lee Street, Jefferson, address where a deputy noticed a vehicle with sev
eral store tote boxes in the bed of a truck. A manager at a Jefferson store had told the deputy
that someone was stealing tote boxes from the rear of the building. Jefferson police handled
the case.
•terroristic threats at a Norman Road, Athens, address, where a relative threatened to kill a
man after he reported an unrelated domestic incident several days ago.
•DUI on 1-85, Braselton, where a caller reported that a reckless driver was traveling on the
interstate. A second call was made after the vehicle wrecked. The driver of the vehicle said
he was visiting his girlfriend's house in Gastonia, N.C., and was going home to Charlotte,
N.C., when he fell asleep and wrecked. A deputy told the man he was in Jackson County, Ga.,
and the driver said he was lost. The man was charged with DUI, open container of alcohol
and failure to maintain lane.
•damage to property at a Cabin Creek Road, Commerce, address, where a woman said
someone spraypainted a decorative bear in her yard.
•suspicious activity at a Mountain Creek Church Road, Pendergrass, address, where two
men were loading scrap metal from around a barn. One of the men said his grandmother
— the owner of the barn — said they could have the scrap metal. The grandmother told a
deputy over the phone that she was out of town. She said the grandson could get the metal,
but she wanted him to do it while she was home. The men unloaded the items.
•harsssing text messages at an Ila Road, Commerce, address, where a woman said her ex-
husband sent her nine text messages that day threatening to take her back to court over her
child.
•property damage at a Forest Lake Circle, Pendergrass, address, where a woman said
someone removed a railing on her property and placed it on a dock on the pond that joined
her property.
•battery at a Shady Lane Court, Maysville, address, where a woman admitted to hitting
another woman during a fight. One of the women was arrested.
•fraud at a Wayne Poultry Road, Pendergrass, address, where a woman reported that a
customer declined a $1,500 credit card payment for an engine after it was delivered to an
Atlanta address.
•driving with a suspended license on 1-85, Jefferson, where a man was arrested for driving
with a suspended license. He also had a warrant for his arrest in Hall County.
•damage to property at D’Chevron on Commerce Road, Athens, where a man at the store
said someone damaged his vehicle while he was inside the building.
•two men stopped at a Sanford Road, Nicholson, residence and asked if the home was for
sale. The homeowner told them it was not and she said they acted suspicious.
•a Pendergrass woman said her step-sister sent her a letter and threatened to kill her and
other family members.
•a Jackson Woods Road, Maysville, woman said someone stole two of her dogs.
•accident involving a deer at a Hwy. 15 location.
•dispute between a woman and her boyfriend at a Braselton restaurant.
•verbal dispute at an Aniston Place, Jefferson, residence between a couple.
•property damage at an 1-85, Jefferson, address.
•dispute between a man and his father at an Ivy Creek Drive, Nicholson, location.
•a woman said a man she knows threatened her at an Allen Road, Commerce, address,
•financial transaction card fraud against a Sweetwater Ridge, Hoschton, woman.
•fraud against a New Liberty Church Road, Braselton, man.
•burglary at an Antrim Glenn Drive, Hoschton, residence.
•burglary at a Harmony Grove Road, Jefferson, home.
•burglary at a Ward Road, Hoschton, residence.
•domestic dispute between a married couple at a Hwy. 82 Spur, Maysville, location,
•trespassing at a Ford Road, Jefferson, address.
•shoplifting at a Banks Crossing business.
•a Nicholson woman said two women are harassing her.
•a Jim David Road, Nicholson, woman said someone shot out a window of her truck,
•abandoned wrecked vehicle at a Hwy. 330 location.
•domestic dispute at a Pond Fork Church Road, Pendergrass, address.
•suspicious person at a Marlow Circle, Maysville, location.
•gas taken from a vehicle at an Archer Grove School Road, Athens, address. A wallet was
also taken from the vehicle.
•domestic dispute at a Sagebrush Circle, Maysville, location.
•reckless driving on Martin Road in Talmo.
•trespassing at a Sawdust Trail, Nicholson, location.
•plow, steel and plywood taken from a Standridge Road, Jefferson, residence.
•trespassing at a Jim David Road, Nicholson, location.
•property damage at a Jennings Lane, Nicholson, address.
Seven sentenced recently

of hydrocodone, $1,000 fine
and four years probation.
•Randall Whitt, possession
of hydrocodone and theft by
taking, $1,000 fine, five years
probation and waive fourth
amendment rights.
