track will be closed for most of July
due to resurfacing.
The public will not be able to use
the track during the renovation pro

free basketball
development camp
July 12-15
JACKSON COUNTY
Comprehensive High School will host
a free player development basketball
camp for girls in grades 4-7 July
12-15 from 9 a.m. to noon at the
JCCHS gym.
Registration begins Monday, July
12, at 8:30 a.m. JCCHS coaches and
players will run the camp.
JHS volleyball
workouts start
July 13
THE JEFFERSON HIGH school
volleyball team will hold its first sum
mer workout July 13 at 9 a.m.
Included in the July schedule is a
July 19-22 youth camp, which runs
from 6-8 p.m. nightly. Tryouts are Aug.
24. The first match is Aug. 14.

THE JACKSON COUNTY Panther
Touchdown Club will hold its 10th
annual golf tournament Monday,
July 19, at Chateau Elan Woodlands
Course.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., with
a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Lunch will
be provided. Individual and team slots
are still available at $100 per player.
Corporate packages and hole spon
sorships are also still available.

A FOOTBALL CLINIC will be
held July 21-23 at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School from
6-9 p.m. Cost is $50 for players in
grades 1-8.
Pre-registration ends July 1. The
camp will accept “walk-ups,” but
t-shirt sizes are needed by July 1.

two age groups.

for ages 6-12. Cost is $65.

COMEBACK KIDS TAKE DISTRICT TITLE
The 8-year-old Jackson County “Outlaw” all-stars captured the District 6 title
recently, defeating Hall County Bulls 16-10 in the championship. The Outlaws
fought their way out of the loser’s bracket by winning five consecutive games,
including two doubleheaders, and defeated the Bulls in the first game of the
championship to force the “if needed” second game. “The team was upset losing
their first game of the tournament but they believed in themselves and never gave
up. They played with passion, determination and heart,” coaches said in a press
release. “The entire team said ‘we worked too hard to go down without a fight,’ and
that is what they did. They fought their way back in the championship and won

12-YEAR-OLD DISTRICT CHAMPIONS
The 12-year-old Jackson County Force all-star baseball team recently won the dis
trict championship in Hall County, beating Jefferson in the finals. Team members

DRAGON FIRE FINISHES AS STATE RUNNERS-UP
The Dragon Fire baseball team finished as runners-up in the in the USSSA 12AA
state tournament after playing 45 games. The Dragon Fire entered the 14-team tour
nament by qualifying in the sub-state tournament recently. Entering the state tour
nament as a no. 11 seed, the team immediately knocked off the no. 1 and 4 seeds
