and the late Annie Lee
Brown House. She was of
the Baptist denomination
and worked for Wal-Mart
Distribution.

May 31, 1926, she was the
daughter of the late W. Otis
and Margie Patton Brewer.
She was a member of Shady
Grove Baptist Church in
Belton, S.C. Mrs. Broome
was preceded in death by her
husband, Ralph P. Broome;
brothers, Ralph, Jack and
Aubrey Brewer; and a sis
ter, Mozelle Bellamy.
Survivors include daugh
ters, Regenia Ashley
and husband, Roger, and
Janetta Escoe, all of Belton,
S.C.; sister, Marcus Parks,
Athens; grandchildren,

died Friday, July 2, 2010.
A native of Curtis, Ohio, he
was the son of the late John
Henry and Helen Brunner
Griesmer Brueshaber
and husband of Janice M.
Morris Brueshaber. He
was a farmer,
United States
Air Force
veteran and
retired from Johns Manville
of Winder. Mr. Brueshaber
was preceded in death by a
brother, Roy Brueshaber; and
two sisters, Marie Hancock
and Elsie Sherman.
Survivors in addition to
his wife, Janice M. Morris
Brueshaber, include seven
children, Cindy Coile, Kelly
Hendrix, Tamara Sisk,
John Brueshaber, Michael
Greenway, Ann Hernandez,
Matt Greenway; three sis
ters, Audrey Kanneman,
Helen Krasula, Sharon
Schmuhl; three brothers,
John Joseph Brueshaber,
Norman Brueshaber, Larry
Brueshaber; 19 grandchil
dren; and nine great-grand
children.

held Monday, July 5, at
Providence Baptist Church
with the Rev. Albert Vaughn
officiating. Burial was in
the church cemetery.

John Butler
BRASELTON - John
Wayne Butler, 55, died
Monday, June 28, 2010.
He loved his family, and
was a Waffle House “kid”
for 40 years. He had a pas
sion for visiting waterfalls.
He was blessed to be a
full-time dad and enjoyed
his time with his daughter,
Mousey.
Survivors include his
wife, Marcia Leah Butler;
a daughter, Marcia Jean-
Marie “Mousey” Butler;
and two sons by a previous
marriage, Patrick Wayne
Warren “Monster” Allen
and John Wayne Butler Jr.,
known as Wayne.
There are no services
scheduled at present time.
The family would ask you
to keep them in your prayers
during this time.

WWII obtaining the rank of
Corporal. She had served
as an administrative execu
tive secretary and at age 54
became a licensed practi
cal nurse. After retirement
she served as a volunteer
with Challenged Child and
was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Cornelia
and the Currahee Mountain
Good Sams R.V. Camping
Group. She was a dedicat
ed wife, mother and grand
mother loved ones stated.
Mrs. Cook was preceded
in death by her husband,
Robert Clinton Cook Sr.
Survivors include a
daughter, Nancy Frazier,
Elizabeth City, N.C.; sons
and daughters-in-law,

Claire Hix Edgmon, 54, died
Monday, June 28, 2010.
Born in Athens, she was
the daughter of the late
Vincent Joseph and Mary
Ellen Wilkes Hix. She
graduated summa cum
laude with a Bachelor’s of
Science in Education from
the University of Georgia,
where she also received her
Master’s of Education. She
retired from the Madison
County School System after
teaching for 30 years and
was a proud Ila Elementary
Gator. She was a member
of the Gordon’s Chapel
United Methodist Church in
Sanford.
Elena was a loving wife,
sister and aunt. She was a
nurturing grandmother and
enjoyed spending time with
her family and friends. Elena
was sweet-spirited and fun
loving, always thinking of
others and making them
feel special.
Survivors include her
husband, Richard Edgmon;
three stepchildren, Chris,
Curtis and Angela Edgmon;
granddaughters, Christina
and Caty Edgmon; sib
lings, Stanley (Sharon) Hix,

Steve Garrison

Jack Garrison Sr., 66, long
time owner of Commerce
Tire Company, died
Saturday, July 3, 2010.
Born in Commerce, he
was the son of the late
Swayne and Hazel Moss
Garrison. He was raised
in Toccoa until 1953 when
his family relocated to
Peoria, Ill., as his father
continued his career with
LeTourneau. The fam
ily returned to Georgia in
1957, this time settling in
Commerce where his father
would establish the family
business, Commerce Tire
Co., in 1959. Asa teenager,
Steve began working with
his father and would even
tually become owner of the
business.
Mr. Garrison enjoyed
travel, particularly traveling
abroad, and spending time
with his family on Lake
Hartwell. He was a mem
ber of First Baptist Church
of Commerce where he
served as Sunday School
Superintendent for many
years.
Survivors include his
wife, Janice McCollum
Garrison; sons and daugh-
ter-in-law, Steve and Julie
Garrison, Waleska and
Kevin Garrison, Athens;
daughter and son-in-law,
Shell and Jason Withers,

Club. Mr. Hagan was pre
