Jefferson champs meet Shaq

Jefferson’s Elite Stars
12-and-under basketball team
met four-time NBA champion,
15-time all-star and two-time
scoring champion Shaquille
O'Neal after winning the Youth
Basketball of America (YBOA)
national championship July 3 in
Kissimmee, Ha.
The Elite program was
founded in Jefferson three years
ago by Eddie Boseman and has
been based out of the Jefferson
Recreation Department.
“Like any other program
starting out, the Elite basketball
teams were not always win
ning,” Boseman said. “It took
a lot of dedication and hard
work.”
The program now has over 50
players ages 7-17 from Jackson,
Banks, Oconee, Madison and
Gwinnett counties. The pro
gram includes five head coach
es, three assistants and two
trainers.
“We would like to thank
all of our sponsors and indi
vidual people who helped us
contribute to reaching our
goal,” Boseman said.
JACKSON COUNTY 8-AND-UNDER ALL-STARS WIN STATE
The Jackson County 8-and-under softball all-Stars won the state title in Calhoun
this past Saturday, going undefeated in tournament play. The team will continue
on to the Dizzy Dean world series in Southhaven, Miss., July 21-25. Pictured are
