HESTER GRADUATES
Jacob Hester graduated from the Regional Police
Academy, Athens, on July 23. Hester participated in the
ten-week, 408-hour Basic Law Enforcement Training
Course as required by the Georgia Peace Officer
Standards and Training Council. The course provides
instruction in the areas of criminal justice, criminal law,
constitutional law, community relations, modern police
procedures, firearms, emergency vehicle operations
and first aid training. The completion of the course rep
resents the 238th session graduated by the academy.
Hester is employed with the Jackson County Sheriff’s
Office and is pictured with Sheriff Stan Evans.
Burn victim taken to Grady
A 10-YEAR-OLD child
was airlifted to the Grady
Medical Center burn unit in
Atlanta Thursday after being
burnt by some type of flam
mable liquid.

in Nicholson Friday on a
reported structure fire.
Firefighters found a
detached garage fully
involved with fire. The fire
was contained to the struc-
