Man killed in accident
Couple return from vacation to find home burglarized
THE DRIVER of a vehicle
found on the side of a road
in Hoschton apparently died
from an accident, according to
the Georgia State Patrol.
A Chevy Tahoe was
found Monday morning on
Jefferson Street with its driver
deceased.

A WHEELER Lane, Jefferson, couple returned from a vaca
tion to the beach to find their home had been burglarized.
The couple first noticed that a 55-inch flat screen televi
sion was missing from the living room, according to an inci
dent report filed with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The couple began to look through the home and found that
20 guns, jewelry and two laptop computers had also been
taken.
The couple found the frame to the back door had been bro
ken which is how the burglars got into their home.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents reported to the sheriff’s office last week
included:
•theft by conversion at a Hwy. 124, Jefferson, address,
where a Hoschton man said he loaned his truck to a Statham
man for several days. When the Statham man didn’t return
his vehicle after a few days, the Hoschton man said he didn’t
renew its insurance, which was set to expire. A deputy ran a
background check on the vehicle’s insurance and it showed
that the truck had valid insurance with an insurance company.
The Hoschton man said he didn’t renew the insurance and he
has never had insurance provided by that company. The man
believed that the Statham man fraudulently got insurance in
the Hoschton man’s name. The vehicle was listed as stolen
by the deputy. The Hoschton man still has the title of the
vehicle.
•trespassing at Hurricane Shoals Park when a man was
found by the river area.
•aggravated assault at a Forest Lake Road, Pendergrass,
address.
•property damage when someone broke the window of a
car traveling on Sawdust Trail, Nicholson. The victim said he
recognized the person who broke the window and said it is
someone he had only met one time and he didn’t know what
the dispute was about. He said the person also yelled at him
and tried to get him to fight.
•a Jim David Road, Nicholson, man said his girlfriend was
angry and cut up their mattress. The woman said she had got
ten very drunk at a party and the mattress belonged to her and
she could cut it up if she wanted to.
•vehicle damaged by a deer in the road on Swain Road,
Commerce
•dispute between a woman and her ex-husband at an Old
Hoods Mill Road, Commerce, address.
•an Old Athens Drive, Nicholson, man said someone shot
out a light in his back yard.
•$300 worth of tools and engine parts taken from a shop at
an Ansley Lane, Athens, address.
•air compressor and miter saw taken from a garage at a
South Hampton Circle, Hoschton, address.
•scrap iron rod taken from a Jackson Trail Road, Hoschton,
location.
•dispute between two women over the air conditioning
in their home. One woman turned the thermostat up to 80
degrees because the electric bill was so high last month. The
other woman became upset at how hot it was in the house and
they got into a verbal dispute.
•storage rack stolen from a Hwy. 441, Commerce, location.
It was sitting outside on a concrete drive when it was taken.
•air condition units taken from a Red Oak Road, Maysville,
address.
•GPS, camera and other items taken from a vehicle at a
Lebanon Church Road, Athens, location.
•black metal trailer taken from an Ivy Creek Drive,
Nicholson, residence.
•parts and wires taken from a truck and other heavy equip
ment at a Holly Springs Road, Pendergrass, site.
•a large tree fell on a vehicle at a Sanford Road, Nicholson,
location.
•steel sheets taken from a Timber Ridge, Athens, address.
