night suppers and Bible study

begins at 6:30 p.m.; and every

are available at 9:45 a.m., fol
lowed by Sunday at 10 a.m.

Arcade Community
Church will hold a yard sale
and benefit singing on Friday,
August 13, at 7 a.m. and
Saturday, August 14, from 7
a.m. - 12 noon.
There will be singing, hot-
dogs and hamburger plates.

“Midnight Praise,” “Clark
Kesler and Friends” and
church singers will perform.

Oconee Baptist Church,

preschool program.
Classes include a daily
chapel time with felt Bible

Full - but Fully Accomplish
Your Ministry” and “The
Time Left is Reduced - How
Will You Use It?”
Leslie Jones, a traveling
representative of Jehovah’s

ics.

be “The Scene of this World
is Changing - How Does It
Affect Us?”

Vendors sought for 20th Art in the Park
THE TUMBLING Waters
Society is seeking arts and
crafts vendors and food ven
dors for the 20th Anniversary
Art in the Park Festival to be
held on Saturday and Sunday,
September 18 and 19, at
Hurricane Shoals Park near
Maysville.
The festival features hand
made crafts from all over
North Georgia and festival
foods, including BBQ. Live
entertainment, children’s
activities and tours of the
Heritage Village will be a
part of the event.
Ricky Fitzpatrick will
debut “Down By The Water’s
Edge” as the official song for
Hurricane Shoals.
The 5K Mill Race and Duck
Dash will highlight Sunday’s
activities.
12’ X 12’ vendor spaces
are available, with or with
out electricity. Prices of the
booths go up after August
15.

Benefit motorcycle ride planned
FRIENDS of Darrian
Parham, a law enforcement
officer in Hartwell, will hold
a benefit motorcycle ride
Saturday, Aug. 21, on his
behalf.
Parham will be out of
work for at least two months
while recovering from inju
ries received in a motor
cycle accident Sunday, July
21. Funds raised will help
defray the cost of his medi
cal bills and his time lost
from work.
The event will begin at
Skate A-Rama USA, locat
ed on Hospital Road in
Commerce. Registration is
at 9 a.m. and the kickstands
will go up at 10. The cost is
$15 per bike and $5 per pas
senger. Lunch, which must
be purchased at registration,
is available for $5.
The bikers will travel to
Long Point Recreation Park
in Hart County, where lunch
will be waiting. At the park,
a drawing will be held for a
number of donated items.
Anyone who would like
to make a donation to help

Relay for Life to be held at GMP
GRESHAM Motorsports
Park will host the American
Cancer Society’s Relay For
Life event for Jackson County
on Friday-Saturday, June 3-4.
The event, which had been
held at Peach State Speedway
on the site where Gresham
Motorsports Park is now
located in previous years, is
an event that gives people
in communities across the
country a chance to celebrate
the lives of people who have
battled cancer, remember
loved ones lost and fight back
against the disease.
“Everyone has been touched
by cancer and the Relay For
Life is a way for families
and friend to raise funds to
fight a disease that takes so
much from us,” stated Victoria
Patrick, senior community
manager for the American
Cancer Society. “This is
everyone’s chance to make
a difference in the lives of
so many people. We encour
age everyone to get involved.
Start a team, be a sponsor or
just come to the Relay on June
3 and support the event.”
Since it was first held in
1985, Relay For Life has
grown into the world’s largest
movement to end cancer. Each
year, more than 3.5 million
people in 5,000 communities
across the United States, along
with additional communities

and take turns walking around
the GMP half-mile oval. Each
team is asked to have a rep
resentative on the track at
all times during the 24-hour
event.
“Having lost immediate
family members to cancer. I
know how important an event
like Relay For Life is,” said
Dan Elliott, general manager
at Gresham Motorsports Park.
“We are so proud to be able
to host this event at Gresham
Motorsports Park and we’re
looking forward to seeing
everyone out here next June
to support Relay For Life.”
