RECEIVING FUNDS
Jackson EMC Gainesville district manager Bill Sanders (far right) presents

College vice president of student development Tom Walter, vice president of
institutional advancement and CEO of the Gainesville State College Foundation

THE SUMMER Scholars

Jackson EMC Foundation
to continue providing its
intensive academic enrich

Gainesville State College
for at-risk middle and high
school students.
Institute participants

for three years as rising
eighth, ninth and 10th

areas of reading, writing
and mathematics, as well as
science in the third year. To
encourage life-long fitness
and introduce students to
athletic activities to which
they might not otherwise
be exposed, students also
participate in a physical
education program.
Pre- and post-testing
reveal the institute's impact.
This year’s scores show an
average increase in mathe
matics achievement of 40.7
percent, an average increase
in language arts achieve

Jackson EMC members
fund foundation grants by
having their monthly elec

next dollar amount through
the Operation Round Up
program.
Since October 2005, the
“spare change” has fund
ed more than 430 grants
to organizations and 160
