First United Methodist
Church.
The bride is the daughter of
Pamela Bonds, Panama City,

the Rev. Pat Southerland. The
bride was given in marriage

In lieu of a rehearsal dinner,
the groom’s family is hosting
a celebration of love on Sept.
11, to which invitations have
been mailed.
The couple spent their
honeymoon at Chateau Elan,
Braselton, and a winter cruise
is planned to continue the
celebration.
The two reside in Beaufort,
S.C.

classes offered to be discussed Sept. 17
THE AMERICAN
Area Holiday Festival
coming up this weekend
THE 38TH annual Banks County Holiday Festival will be held
Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 4-5, in downtown Homer.
Among the plans for the two-day festival are arts and crafts booths,
entertainment, activities for children and food concessions.
A parade will kick off the festival at 10 am. on Saturday, Sept. 4.
The grand marshals will be Bonnie Hill and Bonnie Johnson.
The parade will feature a Cabbage Patch Kid. Organizers have
adopted a Lullaby Edition baby, which is a hand-stitched piece
of folk art. Tickets for the Lullaby Edition baby are $2 each and
may be purchased at Homer City Hall, Homer Drugs, Joy Shop
in Commerce, The Purple Door in Homer and Logo Express in
Commerce. The drawing will occur Sunday afternoon near the end
of the festival.

Natasha and Calvin Wright,

of a son, Kaleb William Wright,
on May 28, 2010, at Northeast
Georgia Medical Center,

He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounc

the Jefferson Parks and
Recreation to provide the
community with CPR and
first aid classes. The classes
that are provided are adult,
child and infant CPR/AED
and first aid. Classes are
offered the second week
end of every month from
September to December.

Jim Morgenthaler will speak
about scanning and restoring
old photographs using a home
computer. Guests are invited
to bring their old or damaged
photos to see how they may be
restored.
Morgenthaler will demon
strate how to restore and pre
serve family photographs using
a computer, a flatbed scanner
and Photoshop software.
Morgenthaler is a retired
University of Georgia media
producer. He has taught photog
raphy for the last 35 years and
has worked with digital imag
ing for more than 20 years.
He produced and hosted two
television series for Georgia
Public television. “Handy
Around the House” showed
beginners how to do home
repairs and modifications and
was broadcast for seven years.
“Taking Better Pictures” was
an eight-part series covering all
aspects of photography and was
broadcast for 15 years.
TOWN HALL MEETING
District 3 Commissioner Bruce Yates will be holding a Town
Hall Meeting at the Hoschton Depot on Tuesday, September 14,
2010 at 7:00 p.m..
The Chamber of Commerce will provide a presentation on
SPLOST. Additionally, Mr. Yates will be seeking discussion on the
2011 county budget, along with sharing informational updates on
local road projects, parks and recreation, and other issues of
concern to citizens.
The public is invited to attend.
