CAREER FAIR
Jackson County Comprehensive High School along with East Jackson
Comprehensive High School joined forces Friday to host a career fair for eighth
graders. Each eighth grader from the three county middle schools participated in
the career day that was held at the Gordon Street Center. Jackson County CTAE
(Career, Technical and Agriculture Education) director Todd Shultz said that the goal
was to stray away from typical career fair ways and offer a more hands-on approach
for students. Photo by Katie Huston

PATHWAY TO THE FUTURE
A career day was held Friday at the Gordon Street Center for the Class of 2015 -
also known as this year’s eighth graders. The students from all three county middle
schools participated in the event designed to help them choose career pathways,
which are state-approved career enhancement programs. It’s a sequence of rigor
ous academic and career-related courses that can lead to an associate or bachelor
degree and/or an industry-recognized certificate. The seven pathways recognized
at the career fair were: communication, architecture/construction, family and con
sumer science, health care science, business and computer science, government
and public safety and agriculture.
