Paul Adams

Tommy Adams Jr., 52, died
Tuesday, December 21,
1010, at his residence.
Born in Jackson County,
he was the son of the late
Paul T. and Willie Marie
Christian Adams. He
was a member of Erastus
Christian Church and was
a poultry farmer.
Survivors include his
wife, Pam Bray Adams;
daughter, Callie Adams;
and son, Taylor Adams,
all of Commerce; sis
ters, Paula Adams, Saudi
Arabia, Miriam Walker,
Thompson, and Rhonda
Adams, Commerce.
Funeral services were
held Thursday, December
23, at Erastus Christian
Church with Brian Stowe
and Steve Parker offici
ating. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

Jesse L Anderson
DANIELS VILLE
Jesse L. Anderson, 73, went
home to be with his Lord
and Savior on December
22, 2010.
Jesse was born on April
8, 1937, in Barrington,
N.J., son of the
late Rev. Jesse
and Elizabeth —
Anderson.
He served his country as
a Marine from 1955-1959.
He married Vera Warren in
Flint, Mich, on August 12,
1958.
Jesse joined the
Washington, D.C. Police
Department in 1960.
He became a lieuten
ant and supervised the
Communications Division
until he retired in 1981,
having been a part of many
historical events during his
21 years of service on the
force.
Jesse moved with his wife
and two youngest children
to Danielsville, in 1983,
where he had various jobs,
most notably his position
as supervisor at the Clarke
County Tax and Tag Office
and his job with State Farm
Insurance Agent, Jack
Thornton. He retired per
manently because of health
problems.
Jesse was a faithful mem
ber of Bluestone Baptist
Church, where he was
known for his involve
ment in business meetings
and his ability to quiet
the crowd for the bless
ing before church dinners
with a boisterous “Hey!”
He also enjoyed going to
visit the elderly and shut-
ins and attending Senior
Saints when his health per
mitted him to do so.
Jesse was preceded in
death by his parents, his
brother, Bruce Anderson
and a grandson, Justin
Brown.
Jesse is survived by his
wife of 52 years, Vera
Warren Anderson; sons,
Darrell (Debbie) Anderson,
Greensboro, N.C. and
Darren (Toni) Anderson,
Frisco, Texas; daugh
ters, Diana (Michael)
McCormick, Pensacola,
Fla. and Denise (Tony)
Brown, Colbert; grandchil
dren, Stephen Anderson,
Union, Miss., Daniel,
Bobby, Joshua, Amanda,
Caleb, and Amy Anderson,
Greensboro, N.C., Casey
Brown, Stephens, and
Tiffany Brown, Colbert; and
a brother, Dale Anderson,
Cran Gevrier, France.
The family would like
to extend their warmest
thanks to Jennifer Hamrick,
Christine Davis and Jessica
Wilson for the loving care
that they provided to Jesse
during his times at home.

28, at Bluestone Baptist
Church in Danielsville,

ing. Interment was in the
church cemetery.

Jean Hudson Askew, 77,
died Monday, December
20, 2010, at her residence.
Born in Atlanta on July
25, 1933, she was the
daughter of the late James
E. and Arabella Hayes
Hudson. She was a home
maker and member of the
New Hope Baptist church.
Survivors include her
husband, Jim C. Askew
Sr., Royston; a son, Jim
C. Askew Jr., Royston;
daughter, Donna Jean
Golden, Austin, Texas;
sister, Barbara Rutherford,
Lawrenceville; two grand
children; and two great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held Thursday, December
23, at the New Hope Baptist
Church with the Rev. Brian
David officiating. Burial
was in the Bethel M. Baptist
Church Cemetery.

Mildred Wilson Barnett,
94, died Friday, December
24, 2010, at Hill Haven
Nursing Home.
Born in Jackson County,
she was the daughter of the
late Grover Cleveland and
Kallie Hawks Wilson. She
was a member of the River
of Life Worship Center and
was retired from Blue Bell.
Mrs. Barnett was preceded
in death by her husband,
Otis Barnett.
Survivors include daugh
ters, Walla Mae Butler,
Danielsville, Agnes
Peterman, Nicholson, and
Gail Edwards. Huh; sons,
Mickey Barnett, Athens,
Todd Barnett and Bobby

Thomas J. “Tommy”
Benton, 62, died Friday,
December 17, 2010, at
Florida Hospital following
an extended illness.
Born in Clarke County on
November 18, 1948, he was
the son of the late Horace
(Speed) and Clara Eberhart
Benton. He was originally
from Colbert and moved to
Maryland in 1986 to work
in the cable construction
industry. He followed his
career with another move
to West Virginia in 1992,
and finally to Virginia in
1996. Becoming disabled
to work, he retired and relo
cated in Florida in 2007.
Mr. Benton was preceded
in death by a granddaugh
ter, Jodie Torres.
Survivors include his
loving mate, Pam Vaughn
Benton; daughters and
sons-in-law, Lisa (Steve)
Bolen and Kim Benton,
Danielsville, Ginger
(Chris) Pitts, Lavonia; and
stepdaughter, Vickie (Matt)

Lee “Buck” Brown, 83,
died early Tuesday morn
ing, December 28, 2010, at
his residence.
Born in Banks County,
he was the son of the late
Garnett and
Willie Mae
Crane Brown.
He had
worked in car sales and
was a veteran of the United
States Army.
Survivors include his chil
dren, Randy Lee Brown,
Commerce, Barbara Brown

Brown Rogers, Franklin,
Tenn., Shirley Brown

Keisha Brown Fambro,
Savannah; siblings. Nelson

30, at 11 a.m., from the cha

Phillips Bryant. He was
retired from the Jefferson

Company and was a mem
ber of the Jackson County
Baptist Church. He was a
United States Army Veteran
having served during WWII
and was a POW in Stalag
4B. Mr. Bryant was pre
ceded in death by his wife,
Kathleen Campbell Bryant;
grandson, Eric Hogan;
brothers, Roosevelt, Garth,
Otis, C.H., Lillious, Lester
and Ellis; and sisters,
Evon, Reba, Juanita and
Florence.
Survivors include his
daughter and son-in-law,
Pat and Darrell Hogan,
Pendergrass; brother, Julian
Bryant, South Carolina;
granddaughter and hus

A lifelong resident of Hah
County, he was the son of
the late Allen and Angeline
Poole Cagle. He was self-
employed as a farmer and
saw miller. He was a mem
ber of the Timberridge
Baptist Church and was a
veteran having
served in the
United States
Army during
World War
II in the Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Cagle was preceded
in death by his wife, Sarah
Lipscomb Cagle; sisters,
Claire Cagle, Bertha Cagle
and Ethel Cagle; and a
brother, Edgar Cagle.

and was an Army Veteran
of World War II, serving in

ations. He was a retired

gardening

World War II. Mr. Davis

of Monroe, a Deacon for
several years, a member of
George Baker, Sr. Sunday
School Class and a money
counter for 20 years. He
was a 1946 graduate of
Monroe High School and
a 1950 graduate of the
University of Georgia with
a B.S. degree in forestry.
He retired as Forester
with the Georgia Forestry
Commission after 32 years
of service. He was a proud
Eagle Scout
and was a
veteran of the
United States
Air Force. He was 5 lh gen
eration of Dickinsons in
Walton County.
Survivors include his wife
of 55 years, Sara Standard
Dickinson, Monroe; chil
