Deputies check Facebook Live video of wreck
Jackson County deputies were investi
gating a wreck on Brockton Road when
the Clarke County dispatch reported it
had been told a “gang member” was
“live streaming” on Facebook the acci
dent.
The dispatch office reported the man
in the video had made a statement that
“deputies better have their bullet proof
vest on because I have mine.” Dispatch
had a name for the man and reported he
was “a known gang member and is also
known to carry a firearm.”
A deputy went to the accident scene
where two other deputies were working
the wreck.
He asked dispatch to check on direct
threats and it reported being unable to
reach the person who called.
Deputies approached the first car and
asked for identification. He told them
his name. Deputies told him what they
were checking.
His phone was in front of his gear
shifter and the GPS was activated. He
said he was not on Facebook.
The dispatch said it did not hear any
direct threats from the video.
Deputies told the driver that they had
determined the video was made from his
Facebook account. The man said he had
no comment.
Vehicles behind the man’s vehicle had
left the scene because of the time the
road was blocked.
Dispatch got a photo of the male
using Facebook Live and it matched the
man driving the car.
A deputy was told the man had a
conflict with one of the other deputies
about smoking.
The man was cooperative during the
conversation, a deputy said.
Later, the dispatch said the driver had
continued to post Facebook Live videos
about the incident.

and moved some of his tools that were
on a hay baler with a triangle sign. He
said a gasoline tank and hoses that did

the gas tank and hoses that were near a
tractor.

the courthouse for a state court case.
The truck had a 53-foot trailer. The driv

house employee did report it. Building
and grounds employees estimated the
damage at $400. A bill for that amount
