JCSO incidents - Maysville
ATV, TV worth $9,600 stolen
A woman said her and her husband’s
house on Old Miller Road had been
broken into May 6. She said she had
been gone from about 3 to about 8:40
p.m.
She noticed a TV had been taken
from downstairs. She found a glass
door with a broken window that was the
likely entry point.
Her husband arrived and a
four-wheeler was missing and the secu
rity system was damaged.
He said the house had been broken
into about two weeks ago. Two TVs
were stolen and the security system was
damaged then.
A Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy
noticed that three of the four-wheelers
still at the property had damage to
the ignition switches. A small screw
driver was apparently used to start one
vehicle.
The door was found with pry marks
and piece of wood chipped off. Security
system wires were cut on the left side of
the house.
The man said a neighbor saw some
one riding a four-wheeler in the field
beside the house.
Tracks made by an ATV were found
and followed to a fence along Chandler
Cemetary Road.
The next day a man on Hardman
Road said his son and daughter-in-law
had seen a man riding a red four-wheel
er in a pasture.
Another man said he was awakened
at about 2 a.m. May 7 by the sound of
a 4-wheeler outside his house. He said
the same man had been identified riding
a 4-wheeler later that day.
It also was reported a pickup truck
came about 7 p.m. May 7 and got the
4-wheeler.
One of the area residents said he
overheard the identified man say he
stole the 4-wheeler and sold it to the
man in the pickup for $200. He said he
was planning to get another 4-wheeler
that night.
On May 7, a deputy saw a truck on
the side of Chandler Cemetery Road
where he was patrolling because of
recent burglaries.
The driver said he was watching
property that had been broken into. He
said a vehicle had driven by his house
toward the property with a man and
woman in it.
The vehicle returned with only the
woman, he said. The woman said she
dropped her brother off at the bridge for
him to walk to a friend’s house.
Deputies talked to a man walking,
who was later found to be the man iden
tified as being on the 4-wheeler. He said
he was walking to a friend's house and
later changed to say he was walking to
Maysville to meet his girlfriend.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents in the Maysville area
reported to the Jackson County Sher
iff's Office recently include:
•the owner of an auto parts business
said someone has been on the property
and stealing parts. He said two stereos,
one in a 2007 Ford Explorer and one in
a 2008 Ford Mustang, were taken. The
business has wrecked vehicles used for
parts over several acres. A hole was
found in the fence around the property
and damages to the top of the fence was
found in another area. The owner said
he had security cameras and motion
sensors. He produced some video that
shows one man looking into windows
of vehicles. The business also has an
enclosed building that did not appear to
have been entered.
•a man on Plainview Road said a
house he owns had been entered. A
TV, set of astronomy binoculars and a
tripod were missing. He said he first
found a locked front gate. That was
suspicious because the house is for sale
and he does not lock the gate. He found
some doors open that should have been
closed. The tripod for binoculars was
found on the front porch.
• a woman said she was told to leave
a house on Maysville Road after her
boyfriend got mad at her. She lived
with him at his mother's house for a
couple of weeks, but they had lived
together about a year. She said she was
told if she left any belongings at the
house, they would be burned. She took
some belongings and left, intending to
come back for the remainder. The man
agreed not to bum the remainder of her
belongings.
•a woman reported her daughter and
granddaughter have been missing since
August 2015. She said she has not seen
either of them. She said both of them
have been seen in a car belonging to a
Maysville man. She said she believes
the man is giving her daughter chugs.
The two have an “on and off again rela
tionship," she said. The man is not the
father of the granddaughter.
•a Toccoa man reported the theft of
a 7,000-watt Honda generator from a
construction site on Plainview Road.
He said it was taken during the week-
end, May 6-8.
•a man on Red Oak Road said he
heard someone trying to get in his
house through a bedroom window. He
went outside and heard what “sounded
like two or three people" in the woods
behind his property. He said it looked
like someone had removed “several
screws from his bedroom window.” A
deputy who checked the area said “it
did not appear" the screws had been
removed recently and it “did not appear
that anyone had been walking around
the property,” which was muddy.
•a man said his wife would not return
to their house because people she was
staying with had “turned her against
him." He said they had not been fight
ing. He had not talked with her because
he had no phone.
•a man said someone had broken into
his rental trailer on Hale Road. He said
glass on the back door was broken and
the door unlocked. Coca-colas, water
and beer were taken. Other items of
value were not. He said he suspected
it was kids or someone looking for a
place to stay.

Officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were
called for a miscellaneous incident on Curk Roberts Road

Authorities were requested last week in Talmo while a
nurse attempted to transport a "delusional” and possibly
aggressive man to the hospital.
Officers with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office were
called to a Martin Road residence on reports of emergency
committal. A clinical nurse wanted police presence while
talking with a man who has bipolar disorder and possible
depression.
He was reportedly unwilling to go at first, saying he didn't
do anything wrong. He said multiple times that he would not
go peacefully and that he would fight and resist.
Officers tried to calm the man down, but he continuously
made irrational statements. He told the officer he would take
oxygen away from him and that "if he died he would come
back to life.”
