United Methodist Church
in Hoschton and attended
Jackson County Service
Center (Solar Tech) for 32
years.
Survivors in addition to
his mother include a brother,
Max Allen and his wife Fran,
Jefferson; uncle and aunt,
Jackie Wallace and his wife
Yvonne, Statham; uncle,
Dennis Edgar, Winder, uncle
and aunt, Billy Allen and
his wife Beverly, Hoschton;

Winder; aunts, Gloria Clark
and Josephine Allen, both of
Hoschton; and several other
extended family members
and the staff of Restcare.
The funeral service will
be held on Wednesday, May
24, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel
of Evans Funeral Home with
Pastor Ned Davis officiat
ing. The burial will follow
in the Center United Meth
odist Church Cemetery in
Hoschton. The visitation
will be held on Wednesday,
May 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. at
Evans Funeral Home, prior
to the service.

‘Swampy’ Argo
CANON, GA - Char
lie “Swampy” Ed Argo,
90, passed away on Tues
day, May 16, 2017, at the
Piedmont Athens Regional
Medical Center- Gentiva
Hospice Unit in Athens.
Mr. Argo was born in
Royston on October 23,
1926, the son of the late
Joseph Leonard Argo and
Lana Burch Argo. He was a
laborer having worked with
the Georgia State Highway
Department and was a mem
ber of the Riverside Baptist
Church in Royston. Mr.
Argo was preceded in death
by his wife, Emma Irene
Goodwin Argo; daughter,
Janie Pace-Vanhollenback;
granddaughter, Bobby
Jo Smith; grandson, Greg
Thomas Argo; and eight
brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his sons,
William Argo, Royston,
Billy Ray Argo, Daniels-
ville, David Argo, Canon,
Edward Argo, Canon, Randy
Argo, Hartwell, Charles
Argo, Canon, and Kendall
Argo, Hartwell; daughters,
Emma Jo Roberts, Royston,
and Wanda Wheeler, Bow
man; brother, Alton Argo,
Lula; 29 grandchildren; over
46 great-grandchildren; and
a number of great-great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held on Thursday, May 18,
at the Pruitt Funeral Home
Chapel with the Revs. Roger
Elrod and Joshua Gibson
and Mr. Emmerson Bennett
officiating. Interment was in
the Cary Memorial Gardens
in Royston.

‘Dan’Daniel
Dr. O.G. “Dan” Daniel
passed away at his residence
on Thursday, May 18, 2017.
He was the son of Leonard
D. and Martha Ann White
Daniel. Born in Paris, Ark.,
he attended public school
there graduating from Paris
High School in 1940. Fol
lowing his graduation from
Arkansas State Teachers
College he
served in
the Armed
Forces dur-
ing World
War II. He then received a
B.S. in Animal Science from
the University of Maryland
in 1949 and his M.S. and his
Doctorate from Oklahoma
State University in 1957.
He served as Associate
Professor of Animal Science
and then Dean of Agriculture
at Panhandle A&M College
in Goodwill, Okla. In 1958,
he was appointed head of
the University of Georgia
Extension Animal Science
Department and retired as
chairman of the Division of
Animal Science at the Uni
versity of Georgia in 1981.
Dr. Dan, as he was affec
tionately known to thou
sands of 4-H Club members
and others throughout the
cattle industry, was an inno
vator and organizer. During
his time at the University
of Georgia, he revitalized
the 4-H livestock program,
formed the Beef Cattle
Improvement Association,
acted as official judge at
livestock shows in over 22
states, and supervised the
activities of over 40 animal
scientists engaged in teach
ing, research, and extension
work. His many awards and
honors include Alpha Zeta,
AG Hon, Ag Alumni Hall
of Fame, Ga. Agricultural
Hall of Fame, Ga. Angus
Hall of Fame, Ga. Cattle
men Hall of Fame, OSU
Advanced Degree Graduate
of Distinction and Outstand
ing Extension Award from
the Georgia Alumni Asso
ciation. His portrait hangs
in the Cattle Industry Hall
of Fame at the Saddle and
Sirloin Club in Louisville,
Kentucky.
Dr. Dan was a member
of Colbert Baptist Church,
where he served as deacon
and teacher of the Dan Dan
iel Sunday School class for
over 40 years. He loved
Angus cattle and was a part
ner with his son Randy in
Partisover Ranch near Col
bert, Ga.
He was preceded in death
by his beloved wife of 72
years, Nemah Nunnlee Dan
iel.
Survivors include three
children; daughter and son-
in-law, Dannette and Andy
Denman, son and daughter-
in-law, Randy and Beth
Daniel, and daughter and
son-in-law, Pam and David
Loughridge; five grandchil
dren, Drew and wife Ash
ley Denman, Mary Beth and
husband Seth Cole, Buck
and wife Jenna Daniel,
Whitney and husband Adam
White, and Jim Loughridge;
four great-grandchildren,
Addison Denman, Jack
Denman, Susannah Cole,
Clayton Daniel and a soon
to be born baby White; a
host of nieces and nephews;
and special caregivers.
Funeral services were
held Sunday, May 21, at
Colbert First Baptist Church
with the Revs. Brad Wilson
and Pete Wall officiating.
Interment was at Colbert
Cemetery.

‘Tony’Davis
COMMERCE Joseph
Anthony “Tony” Davis, 67,
died Friday, May 19, 2017,
at his residence.
Mr. Davis was born in
Commerce, the son of the
late Clarence and Fairer
Belle Owens-
by Davis. He
was a mem-
ber of Madi-
son Street Baptist Church
and a veteran of the United
States Army. Mr. Davis
was retired from the United
States Postal Service and
played a number of years in
the Cleveland Indians orga
nization.
Survivors include his wife,
Karen Watson Davis, Com
merce; daughters, Nicole
Twisdale, Myrtle Beach,
S.C. and Shae Wilson, Bir
mingham, Ala.; brothers,
Bill Davis, Commerce, and
Ken Davis, Gainesville; and
four grandchildren.

Funeral Home with the Rev.

McSwain Moss, 69, passed
away Sunday, May 21,
2017, at his residence.
Mr. Moss was born in
Royston on May 27, 1947,
the son of the late J. Perry
Moss and Corrine Sullivan
Moss. He was a truck driver
having worked with James
Whiten Livestock and he
attended the Freedom Con
gregational Holiness Church
in Royston. He was preceded
in death by his wife, Carrie
Lee Fleeman Moss; daugh
ter, Kathy Moss; brothers,
Alton Moss, Donnie Moss
and Jim Moss; and sisters,
Lettie Davison, Hazel Fricks
and Reba Rickerson.
Survivors include his sons
and daughters-in-law, Bob
Moss, Royston, Darrell and
Lisa Moss, Royston, and Ed
and Gail Moss, Cleveland,
Ga.; brothers. Bill Moss
and Doug Moss, both of
Madison County; sister,
Frances Boles, Hartwell; 14
grandchildren; and 24 great
grandchildren.
A graveside service will
be held at 1 p.m. on Satur
day, May 27, at the Rose
Hill Cemetery in Royston.
The family is at the home
of Darrell and Lisa Moss,
3537 Bowman Highway,
Royston, where they will
receive friends on Friday,
May 26, at 7 p.m.

Julius Lamar O’Kelley,
80, died Wednesday, May
17, 2017.
A native of Walton
County, he
was the son
of the late
Joseph A.

J. Churchill O’Kelley. Mr.
O’Kelley was a United
States Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife
of 58 years, Annie Jean
Partee O’Kelley and their

Paul Stallings
WINDER - Paul Thomas
Stallings, 80, passed away
on Friday morning, May 19,
2017, following an extended
illness.
Mr. Stallings was born
on October 22, 1936, at his
home in the New Lois Com
munity of Berrien County,
Ga. In Berrien County, Paul
was educated in the school
system and graduated in the
last class of the old Ber
rien County High School.
After high school, he attend
ed North Georgia College,
where he graduated with
a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Business. While attend
ing North
Georgia Col
lege, Paul
met his soul
mate, Mrs.
Caroline L. Robinson,
whom he married on June
22, 1958. After graduating
college, Paul was commis
sioned a Second Lieutenant
in the United States Army
and served active duty at
Fort Benning, Ga. for six
months. He spent time in
the reserves and received
the rank of captain before
his honorable discharge
in 1968. Paul returned to
Winder, where he was a
self-employed businessman
and was active in the com
munity. He was a member
of the Winder Jaycees and
was one of the last surviv
ing charter members of the
Winder Rotary Club. In
1980, he became employed
by Cagles Inc. in Atlanta as
head of the transportation
department. In 1997, Paul
decided to retire from a suc
cessful professional life and
was an active member of the
Monroe Golf and Country
Club, where he served two
years as president and sev
eral terms on the board of
directors. Throughout all of
Paul’s life he was an avid
farmer and most recently
on he and his wife’s family
farm in Auburn, Ga.
Mr. Stallings was preced
ed in death by his parents,
Roscoe Arnold and Sarah
Frances Brown Stallings.
Survivors include his
loving wife of 58 years,
Caroline Robinson Stall
ings, Winder; son, Arnold
B. (Cathy) Stallings, Wind
er; daughters, Paula C. and
Patricia Stallings, Winder;
grandson, Jordan Stall
ings; brother, Joe B. Stall

Michele Vinson
Michele Renae Wagner
Vinson, 62, wife to Arthur
Alan Vinson, long-time resi
dents of Winder, peacefully
went home to her Heav
enly Father early Wednes
day morning May 17, 2017.
After a long courageous
fight with cancer, Michele
passed away at home sur
rounded by her loving fam
ily.
Born on October 27,
1954, in Havre, Mont., she
was the daughter of Bernard
John and Lois Mae Wagner.
Michele worked in finan
cial services at both Turner
Broadcasting Systems and
Foodbuy, LLC. After retir
ing from Foodbuy in 2014,
she wanted to continue to
work in a field where her
gifts of kindness and love
would serve others, and she
chose to drive a school bus
for Gwinnett County. While
that part of her career path
was shortened by her ill
ness, the children quickly
learned to love “Mrs. V”
as she poured her love on
them. Michele’s love was
limitless and she taught us
all to “spin the positive” out
of every situation. Laughter
filled her days along with
golf, tennis, painting and
traveling. Her generosity
and faith knew no bounds as
she lived her life with beau
ty and “Amazing Grace.”
Michele was an active mem
ber of Gwinnett Church in
Sugar Hill, Ga.
Survivors include her
husband, loving mother, her
children, Tanya and Suzanne
Streetman, Greg and his
wife Nita Vinson, Wendy
and her husband Jerry
Rose; grandchildren, Alexis
Streetman-Haase, Natasha
and Ryan Vinson, and Laura
and Sara Beth Rose; great-
grandson, Liam Haase;
siblings, Debbie Wagner,
Randy and his wife Beth
Wagner, Drew and his wife
Debbie Wagner, Roxanne
and her husband Bill Peake;
nieces and nephew, Laura
Effinger, Stephanie, Brooke,
Alicia and Aaron Wagner,
all of whom brought great
joy to her life.
She was preceded in death
by her father.
