Jefferson 7-on-7.
continued from page IB
ing to the coach.
Clark rarely left the field, playing reps at linebacker
with very little rest in addition to his quarterbacking
duties.
“He did a really, really good job there,” Cathcart said.
Cathcart also pointed to the play of Kade McNally at
fullback and linebacker.
Defensively, Addison Clay, Jake Brown, Cale Compton
and Mathew Nilsen all stood out.
“There were a lot of good individual performances
turned in and we certainly met our objective of leaving
better than when it started,” Cathcart said.
Jefferson will compete at a 7-on-7 tournament at Haber
sham Central on June 16 and then at St. Pius X on June
23. The Dragons will travel to a 7-on-7 event at Presbyte
rian College in July.
“It’s always good to see how you’ve progress from one
to the next and as we add a little bit more offensively, how
they’re able to handle that,” Cathcart said.
While 7-on-7 competition “is not real football,” it’s time
well-spent Cathcart said.
“We want to be good at throwing and catches and cov
ering and areas we need to improve on ... certainly those
were areas we were able to specialize in and focus on,”
Cathcart said.
As for the Dragons’ own tournament, Cathcart deemed
it a success, praising the community and parental support
in running the event. He said he came away from the event
with a greater appreciation for two things.
“One is the community and parental support you have
TOUCHDOWN at a special place like this and two, how competitive and
