No. 1 and 2 singles
Bergeron racked up 12 victo
ries on the season.
Comment: Bergeron played
matches in the top two singles
spots during a historic year for
the Jackson County girls' ten
nis program. During the region
tournament, the sophomore
beat the Beg ion 8-AAA Player
of the Year in helping the Lady
Panthers reach the Region
8-AAA finals for the first time
ever. Her play at No. 1 singles
also helped Jackson County
advance to the Sweet 16 for
the first time in school history.
Emily Morris, Jr.,
Lauren Collins, Jr.,
Banks Co.
No. 1 doubles
The Lady Leopard tandem
went 9-3 on the season.
Comment: Morris and Col
lins were said to be "a great
doubles team," working well
together and to complement
each other's strengths. Col
lins possessed a strong serve;
Morris thrived at the net.
Ameila Lyons, Jr.
Banks Co.
No. 1 singles
Lyons finished the spring
with a 6-8 record.
Comment: Lyons' serve
stood out as she racked up
on aces in most of her match
es. Her coach said she's
improved her strategic game.
Morgan Partin, Sr.
Jeanece Smith, So.
Commerce
No. 1 doubles
Partin and Smith went
11-3 on the year in the top
doubles spot for Commerce.
The two produced a perfect
4-0 record in area play during
the regular season and went
2-0 at the area tournament.

Kacie Holycross, So.
Tori Fortune, So.
Jackson Co.
No. 2 doubles
Holycross and Fortune fin
ished with a 14-4 record.
Comment: The duo helped
lead Jackson County to the
Region 8-AAA finals and the
Class AAA Sweet 16 for the
first time in program history.
Holycross and Fortune were
voted co-MVPs of the team
for finishing with the best
record in the team.
Sam Watson, Sr.
Madison Co.
No. 2 singles
Watson finished with a 7-8
record this spring.
Comment: The senior,
whose goal coming into the
season was to move from
doubles to singles play,
returned after a year off to
help Madison County earn
the program's first state tour
nament appearance since
2014.
Emily Dixon, Sr.
Katie Colquitt, So.
Madison Co.
No. 1 doubles
Dixon and Colquitt went
9-5 playing in the top dou
bles spot for the Lady Raid
ers.
Comment: The doubles
team won the deciding match
against Jefferson during the
regular season to earn Madi
son County the No. 4 seed in
the region tournament. That
opened the door for the Lady
Raiders to eventually qualify
for the state tournament.
Scarlett Woodward, Jr.
Winder-Barrow
No. 2 singles
Woodward went 6-2 in
Region 8-AAAAAA play for
Winder-Barrow.

Cassie Hunter, Sr.
Winder-Barrow
No. 2 doubles
The doubles tandem went
5-3 in Region 8-AAAAAA
action.

Comment: Brooks guid
ed the Lady Panthers to
the Region 8-AAA finals
and to the Sweet 16. Both
were firsts for the Jackson
County girls' tennis pro
gram.

Chandler Hagan, Sr.
Apalachee
No. 1 singles
Hagan went 19-1 at No. 1
singles for Class 6A Apalachee
this past spring and com
piled a 64-6 record in his high
school career. Hagan holds the
Apalachee school record for
career wins and singles victo
ries. The Montevallo signee was
the 8-AAAAAA Boys' Player of
the Year.
Comment: Hagan was
described by his coach as "not
only a great player, but an
honors graduate and four-time
scholar athlete award winner."
Eli Hagan, So.
Apalachee
No. 2 singles
Hagan went 18-1 for
Apalachee this season and is
undefeated the past two sea
sons in region play. With a
38-1 record (he was 20-0 as a
freshman), Hagan ranks first in
school history for career winning
percentage at .974 and is tied for
second in career singles wins.
Comment: Hagan's coach
called him a natural tennis play
er. Not only does he possess
natural ability, he is very tactical
and can beat opponents in many
different ways.
Stetson Boswell, Sr.
Tyler Morris, Fr.
Banks Co.
No. 2 doubles
Boswell and Morris went
13-0, including two wins at the
region and state tournament.
Comment: The duo was
praised for its poise and attitude
in helping the Leopards win the
Region 8-AA title.
Hunter Payne, Sr.
Griffin Goodwin, Sr.
Banks Co.
No. 1 doubles
Payne and Goodwin went
12-1 suffering their only loss
against Elbert County, a defeat
the pair avenged twice later in
the season.
Comment: Reliable for a win
in almost every match, Payne
and Goodwin maintained their
composure and adjusted their
game as needed, according to
their coach.
Dalton Flint, Sr.
Commerce
No. 1 singles
Flint went 13-2 on the sea
son, which included a perfect
4-0 mark in area play and a 4-0
record in postseason play.
Comment: NA
Nick Bergeron, Fr.
Jackson Co.
No. 2 and 3 singles
Bergeron posted a perfect
18-0 record for the Panthers,
who won the region title and
advanced to the Sweet 16. His
win at No. 3 singles against
Franklin County in the 8-AAA
finals clinched the Panthers'
first region championship.
Bergeron also won at No. 3 sin
gles against Ringgold to secure
Jackson County's first-ever state
tournament win.
Comment: Bergeron's coach
noted that his play "decided so
many matches."
Kyle Graves, So.
Jackson Co.
No. 1 and 2 singles
Graves went 12-8 for the
Region 8-AAA champion Pan
thers.
Comment: Graves'coach said
he played "fantastic tennis" all
year and was of the major fac
tors in the team reaching the
Sweet 16.
Marcus Berninger, Fr.
Jefferson
No. 1 singles
Berninger went 15-3 playing
in the top singles spot for the
Region 8-AAAA runner-up Drag
ons.
Comment: Berninger, who set
the Jefferson school record for
wins by a freshman, has the
chance to become the Dragons'
winningest player in school his
tory by the time he graduates.
Caleb Tyler, Sr.
Caleb Wells, So.
Jefferson
No. 1 doubles
Tyler and Wells combined to
go 13-6 in doubles action, help
ing the Dragons reach the Elite
Eight.
Comment: Tyler completed
his career with over 50 wins
BOYS TEAM
and will play college tennis at
LaGrange. Wells has the oppor
tunity to finish his career with
60-plus victories.
Jacob Dixon, So.
Anthony Lyvers, Jr.
Madison Co.
No. 1 doubles
The doubles team went 9-5
for the Red Raiders.
Comment: Dixon and Lyvers
improved as the season pro
gressed. Their coach said their
play gave the Red Raiders a
chance for a team win every
time they took the court.
Michael Colosimo, Sr.
Winder-Barrow
No. 1 singles
Colosimo went 8-3 overall
and 4-1 in region competition for
the Bulldoggs.

Coaches of The Year
Allen Thompson
Jefferson
Comment: In his final sea
son with the Dragons, Thomp
son guided Jefferson to a 16-3
record, a runner-up finish in
Region 8-AAAA and to the Class
AAAA Elite Eight.
Jim McKinney
Banks Co.
Comment: McKinney coached
the Leopards to a region title in
8-AA and to the state Elite Eight.

CITY OF PENDERGRASS
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
The City of Pendergrass will be accepting
Request for Proposals (RFP) from qualified
parties to provide municipal based, curbside
refuse collection services. The City currently
provides refuse collection services to approx
imately 150 city customers. The proposal
documents may be obtained from the City of
Pendergrass City Hall, located at 65 Smith
Bridges Road, Pendergrass, Georgia 30549.
One bound and signed copy of each propos
al shall be submitted to the Pendergrass City
Clerk’s Office, in the Pendergrass City Hall,
no later than June 30th, 2017, by 5:00 p.m..
The decision to accept or reject any propos
al shall be left solely to the discretion of the
City of Pendergrass.
