JCSO arrests
Man arrested after alleged shoplifting spree
A South Carolina man was arrested by
the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office last
week after an alleged shoplifting spree.
Jeffrey Benard Brown, 51,642 Cherry
Street, Greenville, S.C., was arrested for
no license, tire violation and felony theft
by shoplifting.
An American Eagle employee report
ed Brown after he allegedly took shorts
from the store.
She got information on his car and
officers later found his vehicle and initi
ated a traffic stop.
Brown told officers he’d been shop
ping and was on his way home. He
refused a search of the vehicle.
Brown was eventually arrested for
driving without a license and during an
inventory search of the vehicle, officers
found several clothing items that weren’t
in bags that still had tags on them. Some
of the merchandise still had the security
pin connected to them.
Officers collected 58 items from
Brown’s vehicle, which totaled $2,447.
That merchandise was returned to the
stores.
Additional merchandise from Nike,
Nautica and JK had not been stolen from
the Commerce stores. Those items were
taken into evidence.

week after he allegedly "bumped” a
woman with his vehicle and knocked her

Officers were called to Fahrenthold’s
residence for a dispute. They saw Fahr
enthold standing over a woman, who
was lying on the ground behind a vehi
cle.
The couple had reportedly been drink
ing and had an argument. Neither were
forthcoming in details and said they
didn’t want anyone to go to jail.
The complainant first told officers she
didn’t intend to call 9-1-1. She later said
Fahrenthold asked her to leave during the
argument and eventually "bear hugged"
her on the ground, took her phone and
threw it in the pool.
She reportedly jumped into the pool
and got the phone back to call 9-1-1.
When the complainant told Fahrenthold
she called the police, he told her, “I’m
not going back to jail," and went to the
car.
She followed him and Fahrenthold
reportedly bumped into her with the
vehicle when he backed up. The woman
fell, scraped her knee and hurt her ankle.
She had visible injuries and was treated
