Roy Beck
COMMERCE - Roy E.
Beck, 96, went to be the with
Lord Friday, July 14, 2017, at
Bentley Assisted Living.
Mr. Beck was born in Cor
nelia, Ga., the son of the late
WJ and Lillie Stevens Beck.
Mr. Beck was a United States
Marine Corp World War II
veteran at
Iwo Jima,
a member
of Madison
Street Baptist
Church, and a Gideon Inter
national member for over 40
years. He was owner of Beck
Tractor for 27 years. Mr. Beck
was preceded in death by his
wife of 70 years, Betty Wil
banks Beck; brothers, Ernest
and Lee Beck; and a sister,
Mary Ledford.
Survivors include his daugh
ter, Beth McCook (Archie),
Commerce; grandsons, Brad
McCook (Suzanne) and Kevin
McCook (Dawn), Commerce;
great-grandchildren, Blake,
Kaleb and Kyla McCook; step-
great-grandchildren, Brian,
Michael, and Emily Adler, and
Chris Richey; and sister, Betty
Ivie, Commerce.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, July 18, at Madison
Street Baptist Church with
Dr. Larry Montgomery, Kevin
McCook and Brad McCook
officiating. Interment was at
Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cem
etery.
The family of Mr. Beck

Kenneth Ciraval
WINTERVILLE - Dr.
Kenneth Ciraval, 76, passed
away on Thursday, July 13,
2017, after a long illness.
Dr. Ciraval was born in
Brooklyn. N.Y., a son of the
late Eugene and Marie Cira-
valo. He was a graduate of
the University of Georgia and
worked with children at the
Rutland Center in Athens until
he retired. He was a member of
several organizations.
Survivors include his wife
Jackie (Lawson), formerly
of Jefferson; step-children,
Jinni (Carloss) Gooch, Jef
ferson, Chad Knight, Athens,
and Coda Carloss, Charleston,
S.C.; grandchildren Alyssa
Grace Gooch and Parker Thur
mond Gooch.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, July 15, at the Lord
and Stephens Chapel, East
Athens, with interment in the
Madison City Cemetery.

East Athens.

ity Glaze, 32, entered into

following a long courageous
battle with Wilson’s disease.
Although her family is deeply
saddened by her departure,
knowing she is no longer in
pain is a blessing.
She was born in Highpoint,
N.C.. but
grew up in
north metro
Atlanta and
then resided
in North
Georgia.
Christina
was preced
ed in death
by her step-
dad, Kenny
White; and
her grandfather, Michael D.
Hanson.
Survivors include her hus
band, Robert Glaze, Athens;

Geneva Hill
DOUGLASVILLE, GA -
Miss Geneva Vernelle Hill, 93,
passed away Thursday, July 13,
2017.
She was born April 11, 1924,
in Lula, Ga., the daughter of
the late Mr. Charles Young Hill
and Beulah Mae Watson Hill.
She was of the Presbyterian
denomination. She loved her
family dearly and was an avid
Atlanta Braves fan. Miss Hill
was preceded in death by her
sister, Dessie Mae Payne; and
brothers, Charles Emory Hill,
Harrison Wiley Hill, and Max
Ryland Hill.
Survivors include several
nieces and nephews; and sev
eral great-nieces and great-
nephews.
Funeral services were con
ducted Sunday. July 16, at the
Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral
Home in Douglasville with the
Rev. Marcus Miller officiating.
The Committal Service fol
lowed the funeral service in the
funeral home Chapel. Inter
ment was at Georgia Memorial
Park in Marietta.

away at her

Born in
1944, Sheila
grew up in
Conyers, Ga.
She was mar
ried to Jimmy D. Lindsey of
Covington on April 19, 1962.
They celebrated their 55th wed
ding anniversary this year. She
was preceded in death by her
parents. Willie James and Rosie
Nell Johnson; sister. Shirley
Maddox; brother. Alien M.
Johnson, Sr.; and niece, Sandra
Dobbs.
Survivors in addition to
her loving spouse include
daughters, Laura Nell Lind
sey, Arnoldsville, and Linda
Sue Moon; son-in-law, Bruce
Moon; grandchildren, Will
Moon and Cheyenne Moon,
Colbert; numerous nieces and
nephews; and other family
members.

Charles McGee
BRASELTON - Charles
Thomas "Tom” McGee, 94,
died Wednesday, July 12, 2017,
at the Northeast Georgia Medi
cal Center-Braselton.
Born in Lawrenceville, Ga.,
Mr. McGee had lived in Jack-
son County for a number of
years. He was the son of the
late James H. Sr. and Susie
Summer our
McGee. Mr.
McGee served
in the United
States Army
during World War II and the
Korean War. He was retired
from the University of Georgia,
where he was a horticulturist.
He also worked with the Soil
Conservation Service and was
the former cemetery sexton for
Oconee Hill Cemetery in Ath
ens. Mr. McGee was a mem
ber of the First Baptist Church
of Lawrenceville.
Survivors include his wife,
Paula W. McGee, Braselton;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Sally and Gary Cochran, Dal
ton, Ga.; Julie and John Jaques,
Lawrenceville; grandchildren,
Emily and Jeff Bartenfeld, Ath
ens, Sara and Wesley Green,
Dalton, Stephen Jaques and
fiancee Mary Grace Messick,
Athens, Benjamin and Tabatha
Jaques, Cleveland; Lauren
Jaques, Lawrenceville; great
grandchildren, Henley Green,

brother, James H. McGee Jr.

Saturday, July 15, in the chapel
of Little & Davenport Funeral
Home. The Rev. Phil Williams
officiated. Interment was held
at the Oconee Hill Cemetery in
Athens with Dr. Lamar Holley
officiating.

Jerre Ramlow
AUBURN - Jerre Dell Mor
gan Ramlow, 81, went to be
with her Lord
on Saturday,
July 1, 2017,
after a lifetime
of love and
perseverance.
Her devotion
to her family
and her firm
belief in God
supported her
throughout her
life and ultimately gave her
peace.
Jerre was born to the late
Thomas Byron Morgan and
Eve Thomas Morgan, a physi
cian and a nurse respectively,
in Amarillo, Texas on July 16,
1935. As a young girl, she was
immersed in the Christian com
munity that would ultimately
become her lifelong support.
She learned to play piano at an
early age, and was an assistant
for her father as an adolescent.
Jerre was blessed with a
large and loving family. She
married her best friend and
love of her life, James “Jim”
Walter Ramlow, on November
28, 1953, in Bernalillo, N.M.
Together they raised their four
children with patience, disci
pline and humility. Jerre taught
them to love and serve others,
and encouraged them to seek
the Lord. From the very begin
ning. she was determined to
take her children to church and
encouraged them to establish a
personal relationship with God.
Jerre was one to lead by
example. She was kind and
out-spoken, and always took
the time to encourage others.
She loved to spend time with
her family, most especially to
read books to her many great
grandchildren. Her love for
reading often motivated her to
share a favorite book or author
with other family members.
She studied God’s word faith
fully, always wanting to learn
more about His promises. She
is dearly missed by her loved
ones, who celebrate the fact
that she is at peace with her
Creator.

and Edward "Eddie” Ramlow;
daughters, Patricia “Patty” R.

tion of Life service at Galilee
Christian Church in Jefferson,
Ga. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July
29, with a reception to follow at
the church. Her minister, Nick
Vipperman, will officiate the
service.

in 1982. He attended the Uni

fin Pawn Shop for several years
before opening his own suc

across the region as a firearms
expert and had appeared on
the History Channel’s series
“Tales of the Gun.” David was
a former member of both the
Griffin-Spalding County Board
of Education and Spalding
County Board of Commission

to law enforcement and the
community. There is no way
