JCSO incidents - Jefferson
Motorcycles make racket on Rock Forge
A citizen complained to Arcade Police Department
last week that motorcycles travel through Rock Forge
Court to a house on the road.
The person said the motorcycles are “very loud and
travel at a high rate of speed.”
The cycles also wake residents up after midnight on
the weekends.
The person said before the motorcycles would travel
slow and it would not bother anyone, but now they are
“flying” up and down the road.”
WOMAN CHARGED WITH
FAMILY VIOLENCE
A woman was charged with simple battery - family
violence and criminal trespass after she was accused of
forcing entry into her parents’ home in an attempt to
get her son.
Samantha Nicole Hyde, 24. Norcross, was arrested
July 5.
Hyde told her mother she was coming to her house
for her son after moving out of the house and leaving
her 2-year-old with her parents.
She had been living there for about five months.
During the past two days, she had been in arguments
with her sister and parents about her live-in boyfriend
and money.
Her parents said she is not mentally stable and does
not have the money to take care of her son.
Representatives of the Jackson County Division of
Family and Children Services also were at the house.
Her father was on the porch when Hyde arrived. He
went inside and locked the door.
Hyde reportedly forced entry, damaging the door
frame. She shoved her father and pushed her mother to
the ground.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SHOPLIFTING
AFTER TWO INCIDENTS
A Jefferson woman was charged with shoplifting
after two incidents at the Dollar General Store.
Arrested was Tamorah Lee Fouts, 55, 48 McCreery
Road, Jefferson.
On the first call, the assistant manager at Dollar Gen
eral store said a woman bought some sodas and then
took a ladies’ top from the clothing rack at the door. The
top was valued at $12.
A customer said he would provide video of the theft
from his cell phone.
A license plate check matched the Mercury the
woman left in, but the registered owner of the car did
not match the description on the video. The suspect
was “lighter in weight and younger than the registered
owner.”
At about 7:36 p.m. July 5, the store manager said the
woman concealed multiple DVD movies in her purse.
She gave the movies to the manager when confront
ed, but she would not let her look inside her purse for
other items.
The manager tried to detain the woman and a man
who was with her by locking the door.
The pair tried to leave by the locked door and fled
out the rear entrance when they learned the police had
been called.
Both were caught by Jackson County deputies, the
woman on Double Bridges Road and the man on High
way 82.
The man was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional
Medical Center for chest pains.
ARRESTS
Arrests made by the Arcade Police Department
recently include:
•Maurice Larry Turner, 25. 144 Parkridge Court.
Athens, probation violation.
•Randall Joshua Ray, 44, 2128 Balfour St.. Augusta,
held on a Richmond County warrant for probation
violation.
•Jacob Alexander Byars, 20, 2314 Dovetown Road,
Royston. driving on a suspended license and headlight
requirements.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents reported to the APD recently include:
•a woman said her daughter’s boyfriend called about
25 times after she was arrested for family violence at
her house. He wanted to know where the daughter was
and blamed the woman.
•a woman said a dog started hanging around her
house and was tearing up the underpinning. Animal
control came to the house,
•a man said he is having a dispute with his father over
property. He said his father called him and threatened
to contact the Jackson County Division of Family and
Children Services and have his children taken from
him.
•a woman said July 7 that her car had broken down
on the Highway 129 bypass June 30 and was missing.
JCSO incidents - Maysville
Men found at Hurricane Shoals Park in middle of night
Three men recently were found in the Hurricane
Shoals Park parking lot about 1 a.m.
Two of the three admitted to smoking marijuana.
One said they were “just hanging out listening to
music.”
The trio was told to be on the way and “not to be out
at closed parks behind closed gates.”
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents in the Maysville area reported to the
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office recently include:
•a woman on Maysville Road said a track bed full
of bricks were stolen from her house. The bricks were
taken while she was taking her grandmother to the
hospital.
Golf cart wreck
hurts four
Four people wrecked a golf cart on Sanctuary Drive in Traditions
about 9:40 p.m. July 8.
One man suffered a compound fracture on his leg. Two juveniles
also had bad injuries.
All three were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
The fourth person, a woman, said she hurt her elbow but was all
right.
She said one of the juveniles was driving and lost control of the
steering wheel.
The golf cart flipped.
FIREWORKS SHOT AFTER CURFEW
Complaints about fireworks being shot in Jefferson were received
July 7-8.
A deputy said he saw a man standing in his yard on Highway 82
shooting fireworks at 11:30 p.m.
The deputy had gotten a noise complaint about fireworks.
He told the man he could shoot fireworks only until 9 p.m.
On July 8, the complaint was on Brock Road. A man was shooting
fireworks in his front yard about 11 p.m.
MAN REPORTS HOUSE BREAK-IN
A man on Will Clark Road said his house was broken into while
he was away for the night. He said he came home about 2 p.m.
He said someone jumped the wood fence and forced open a
window on the master bedroom. Taken were a Ruger 40 caliber
handgun. Dell PC and monitor, iPad Air and a cigar box with about
35 knives.
A wardrobe cabinet was found turned over in a bedroom. Thieves
also attempted to take a 46-inch Samsung flat screen TV from the
wall in the living room.
A neighbor reported seeing a dark track in the drive about 11 p.m.
for 30 to 45 minutes.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents in the Jefferson area reported to the Jackson
County Sheriff’s Office recently include:
•a man on Anniston Drive said he took a dog out of a kennel that
was near rental buildings on Moore Road about 6:15 p.m. It had “no
food and little to no water.” he said. The dog also was covered in
urine and feces, and he cleaned it up.
•a woman said she had been locked out of the house where she
had lived for two months. She said she went to a friend’s house for
15 minutes and all her belongings were in the garage area of the
front yard when she returned. She said the man who is her room
mate locked her out. He said she was homeless and had the items
in her car.
• a woman said she had an argument with her mother. She said
her mother tried to take a phone away from her and slapped her in
the face. The mother said the argument with her daughter was about
her daughter’s husband
•a man and woman said a former renter was at the house when
they drove up. Evidence of people staying the house was found. The
renter said he was not living there. He said he stopped by to see if
he left any belongings.
