Prank leads to a fight
between nephew and uncle
Officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call
about a fight on Apple Valley Road between an uncle and nephew.
The fight began because the uncle accused his nephew of playing a
prank on him and threatened to beat him up. The nephew then went to the
shed that the uncle was living in and the two began fighting.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents reported to the JCSO in Commerce were:
•motorist assist on 1-85 where a church van had to pull off the road
when it was cut off by a tractor-trailer. The vehicle was not damaged, but
the driver pulled over thinking that one of the tires was flat.
•theft by shoplifting on Steven B. Tanger Boulevard where someone
took a shoe box and ran through the stockroom and out the backdoor of
Rack Room Shoes.
•battery on Old Hoods Mill Road where a woman says she fell down
the stairs at a party.
•livestock in yard on Mount Olive Road where a woman complained
about cows on her property eating grass.
•damage to property on Hwy. 441 where a truck driver thought some
one shot his truck while he was driving, but the officers believed that it
was probably a rock that hit the truck. A possible suspect was arrested
on unrelated charges.
•miscellaneous report on Steven B. Tanger Boulevard where officers
noticed people on a trailer lot that was closed. The people left when the
officers told them the business wasn’t open.
•dispute on Jefferson Road where a woman called the police about an
argument between her daughter and son-in-law. However, the daughter
says her mom overreacted.
•dispute on B. Wilson Road where a man and his girlfriend got into an
argument with her grandmother about leaving a television on. The grand
mother complained about them kicking on her door and damaging it.
•civil issue on Blacks Creek Church Road where a woman complained
about her ex-boyfriend demanding that she give back her computer,
phone and ring to him.
•possible scam on Alma Court where a woman received a call from
someone asking for her social security number and threatening to have
her arrested if she didn't provide the number.
•criminal trespass on Rob Belue Road where a woman complained
about her brother in-law taking her truck while she was on vacation with
her husband.
•illegal dumping on Hope Road where a man complained about finding
a load of household items laying in the middle of the road by his house.
•suspicious vehicle on B. Wilson Road where a vehicle was parked in
the parking lot of an apartment building. The two occupants here having
a serious conversation.
•shoplifting on Steven B. Tanger Boulevard where the manager of the
Nike store gave officers a flash drive with video showing the same man
stealing shoes several times between June 28 and July 10.
•no insurance on Maysville Road where an officer pulled a vehicle
over for driving with a missing rear window and rear bumper and busted
taillight. The vehicle also wasn’t insured. The driver of the vehicle said
he was borrowing it and was unaware that it didn’t have insurance. He
was issued citations for all offenses.
•suspicious person on Steven B. Tanger Boulevard where officers
caught a couple having sex inside a vehicle parked at Tanger Outlets.
Shoplifter stashes items in clothes
A suspected shoplifter hid merchandise in her
clothes at a Hoschton supermarket.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were
called to Hwy. 124 West on reports of theft by shop
lifting and criminal trespass. A supermarket employee
said a customer was shoplifting and hiding goods in
her clothing.
She reportedly paid for some items, but put an $8
botde of shampoo in her purse.
Employees didn’t want to press charges, but the
woman was banned from the store for two years.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents reported to the JCSO in Hoschton
were:
•miscellaneous report on Liberty Bell Run where
a man reported juveniles were driving a golf cart and
playing on skateboards in a neighborhood. A juvenile
was apparently riding on the skateboard which the
other kids were pulling with the golf cart. The deputy
spoke with the juveniles, who said they would put the
golf cart up and be more careful. Officers gave each
of them a JCSO wrist bracelet to wear.
•suicide attempt on Stoneview Drive where a
woman found her mother unresponsive and a suicide
note. She sat up when officers arrived and had slurred
speech. She was transported to the hospital.
•dispute on Meadow Vista Lane where an estranged
couple argued over some personal items. The man
said his ex-girlfriend swung a bag at him, which
touched his face. She also reportedly swung her arms,
but never struck him. He didn’t have any injuries and
didn’t want to press charges, but he said he wanted the
woman to be warned of criminal trespass. The woman

Two brothers get in a
Officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a call on Jim David Road
about two brothers engaging in a physical fight.
Their father complained to one of the sons about
his friends to parking in his yard. This angered
his son and the two started arguing until the son
shoved him against the wall.
That’s when the other son intervened. The fight
ended when one brother hit the other over the
head with a handgun.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents reported to the JCSO in Nich
olson were:
•battery on Little Valley Church Road where a
mother and daughter got into a fight over property.
•suicide threat on Hwy. 441 where a man admit
ted to trying to kill himself four times in the past,
but officers were unable to locate the man.
said the dispute was only verbal.
•suspicious activity on Hwy. 60 where a woman
reported a vacant residence was burglarized and an air
conditioning unit was stolen.
•suspicious activity at a restaurant on Hwy. 124
West where a woman reported a woman was possibly
naked in a vehicle and giving a man a lap dance while
they waited on their food order. She also smelled
alcohol inside. The vehicle left before officers arrived.
•damage to property on West Broad Street where a
building fell and damaged a fence.
•burglary on Hwy. 60 where a woman said some
one broke into a residence and took four electric eyes
from a stove. She also found an empty condom box
and wrapper on the floor.
BRASELTON
Incidents reported to the JCSO in Braselton were:
•dispute on New Cut Road where a man who
reportedly has bipolar disorder and autism became
upset with his family after they told him he couldn’t
go to the mall because of his behavior. He reportedly
cursed and threw rocks. The man’s father secured his
wrists with zip-ties, fearing they may be injured if he
had to hold him down. He was calm when officers
arrived and the crisis intervention team was called.
•information on Ednaville Road where a woman
wanted her stepfather and his girlfriend to move out
after they had an argument about the couple drinking
at the residence. She feared a dispute would start if
they returned to pick up their belongings.
•9-1-1 call on Gold Crest Drive where a woman
with dementia reported there were large tarantulas in
her bed and she needed help getting rid of them.

where a man says he saw a man walk out of the
woods onto his property late at night.
•suspicious person on Hwy. 441 where a man
had run out of gas and was parked at a business.
•verbal dispute on Pace Drive where a son got
into an argument with his father about him kick
ing his girlfriend out.
•stolen vehicle on Hawks Ridge Road where a
woman said she let a friend borrow her vehicle on
June 30 and he’s yet to return it.
•civil matter on Staplers Bridge Road where a
woman accused her brother of stealing her vehi
cle.
•information on Broad Street where a woman
was unable to contact the tow service that her
vehicle was at. The woman’s ex-husband’s current
wife had the vehicle towed and wanted the woman
criminally trespassed.
