“Back-to-school season
is here,” organizers state.
“It's the perfect time to
make sure your kids are
up-to-date on their vac
cines.”
Most schools require
children to be current on
vaccinations before enroll
ing to protect the health of
all students.
Childhood vaccines pro
tect against serious and
potentially life-threatening
diseases, including polio,
measles, whooping cough,
and chickenpox.
Kids who are 4 to 6 years
old are due for boosters of
four vaccines: DTaP (diph
theria, tetanus, and pertus
sis, also called whooping
cough), chickenpox, MMR
(measles, mumps, and
rubella), and polio. Older
children, like pre-teens and
teens, need Tdap (tetanus,
diphtheria, and pertussis),
HPV (human papillomavi
rus) vaccines.
All rising seventh grad
ers are required to be
vaccinated with the Men-
ACWY (meningococcal
conjugate virus) vaccine.
In addition, yearly flu
vaccines are recommended
for all children 6 months
and older.

‘Get Fit Jackson’
campaign under way
The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce offers
residents and visitors a challenge - walk one of county’s
16 walking trails and/or school tracks, take a photo at the
trailhead or at the track, post the photo on the chamber
webpage and be eligible for monthly prizes.
Prizes will be awarded randomly, so the more trails
and photos the more chances to win. To participate, go to
www.facebook.com/jacksoncountychamberga, click the
left hand tab called contests.
“Get Fit Jackson” began July 1 and runs through Oct.
31.
“It’s an easy and a fun way to ‘get fit,’” organizers state.
“Rules are simple: the photo must be at one of the named
trails: only enter one trail at a time; the entrant must be the
person the Facebook account is linked to; the Chamber
reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who does not
follow the rules or posts questionable content.”
Trails are numbered 1-16 and are as follows: 1) Fox
Smallwood Drive Trails in Commerce; 2) American
