Commerce woman
A Commerce woman thinks her juvenile daughter may be
involved in prostitution.
Commerce Police Department officers were called to Wil
liford Street on reports of juvenile delinquent acts. A woman
said her 17-year-old daughter leaves the house without per
mission and she recendy found out she stays in the Atlanta
area and may be involved in prostitution.
The girl reportedly stays with the family members of a
man named “Pimp Daddy.” She also talks with two men on
social media whose posts refer to prostitution.
The girl reportedly denied that anyone is taking advantage
of her. She said she works in strip clubs and makes money,
but Pimp Daddy doesn’t let her have it.
The daughter left with two other women later that day and
officers placed a lookout on the vehicle and the runaway girl.
COMMERCE MAN CHARGED AFTER
THREATENING TO KILL WOMAN
A Commerce man was arrested last week after he threat
ened to kill a woman.
Michael A. Ervin, 52.178 Spring Street. Commerce, faces
charges of possession of a firearm during a crime or attempt
of a crime; battery; possession of marijuana less than an
ounce; and terroristic threats and acts.
Ervin and a woman reportedly got into an argument
because he thought she was going to sell some of his prop
erty online. He allegedly pushed her down and hit her ankle
with his walking stick.
Ervin allegedly threatened to shoot the woman and shoot
himself. A male family member later confirmed this, claim
ing Ervin called him crying and told him he was going to
kill the victim. He also reportedly threatened to shoot the
woman numerous times while on the phone.
The victim reportedly called a neighbor and asked her to
come over “right away.” Fearing the argument would esca
late, the neighbor called 9-1-1.
Officers found the couple outside, but they fled behind the
house. The woman stopped and Ervin was caught.
After consenting to a search, officers found marijuana in
Ervin’s bag.
He also had a walking stick in hand. A gun was found on
the back porch.
Ervin was booked into the Jackson County Jail.
The victim was taken to the emergency room.
MAN ARRESTED AFTER FIGHT
Another Commerce man was arrested last week after a
fight.
Duane D. Blanchard, 56, 91 Hillcrest Street, Commerce,
faces charges of battery-Family Violence Act; disorderly
conduct; and cruelty to children.
Blanchard allegedly confronted multiple people and said
he was going to kill everyone. He allegedly grabbed a
woman by the neck and held her against the wall before a
man grabbed and struck him.
He reportedly fell to the ground, but got up and struck
another man who was apparently trying to separate the fight.

Brothers-in-law
arrested for fighting
Triston Kyle Stowe. 21. 1222 Crossing Place, Com
merce and Nicholas Olin Woodruff, 19, 943 Wilson
Cemetery Road, Nicholson were arrested last week for
affray.
One of the witnesses said that her and Stowe went
over to Woodruff’s house because Stowe’s sister,
Woodruff’s wife, wanted to go to the hospital to see
their father and Woodruff refused to take her.
The witness said she urged Woodruff to get ready
to leave and that he yelled at her. She then called for
Stowe and that led to them getting into a fight.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents reported to the Maysville PD were:
•damaged property on Ridgeway Road where a
woman found holes in the wall and other damages to a
residence she owns after a tenant moved out.

The Jackson County Board of Adjustment will
hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, August 3,
2017 at 6:00 p.m., at the Jackson County Admin
istration Building Auditorium, 67 Athens Street,

Another witness confirmed the incident.
Blanchard first told officers he approached a couple for
arguing in the yard. He said another man struck him.
When asked about the incident later. Blanchard said he
didn’t remember anything.
OTHER ARRESTS
Other arrests made by the CPD were:
•Amanda Elizabeth Norris, 29,256 Railroad Street Apt. 6.
Jefferson — driving while license is suspended or revoked,
driving under the influence (DUI)-alcohol and hit and run.
Norris fled after allegedly running a red light and striking
another vehicle. She was later stopped on Hwy. 441 and
officers smelled alcohol inside. They also found an open
container of beer in the car. She was taken to the hospital
before she was taken to jail.
•Juan C. Boizo. 35, 405 Wisteria Way, Athens — driving
while unlicensed and speeding. Boizo was stopped for driv
ing 75 miles-per-hour in a 55-mph zone. He was arrested
after officers learned he didn’t have a license.
•Victor Holmes, 23,290 Pine Avenue, Commerce — war
rant service. Holmes turned himself in after officers went to
his house for a warrant out of Franklin County.
•Jilliam Terry McCutcheon, 32, 150 Ridgeway Drive,
Maysville — DUI-alcohol and failure to maintain lane.
McCutcheon was stopped for failing to maintain lane and
officers smelled alcohol on her. She said she had three 16
ounce beers at a Commerce restaurant “because they served
me.” she said while looking at a passenger in the vehicle
who claimed to own the restaurant. McCutcheon was arrest
ed following a field sobriety test and asked, “I guess that
I’m a Banks County teacher and the fact that I know Sheriff
Carlton (Speed) personally doesn’t have anything to do with
this?” Officers told her it didn’t. She was arrested and had a
.102 blood-alcohol level.
•Shiane Grimsley, 20, 91 Hillcrest Street, Commerce
— warrant service. Grimsley was arrested during a fight
incident.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents reported to the CPD were:
•criminal trespass on Spring Street where someone broke
a window during an argument between a husband and wife.
The wife said the two argued about her husband helping
one of their female friends. The husband allegedly threw a
keyboard during the argument and it struck the window. The
man denied throwing the keyboard. He had cuts on him and
his shirt was ripped. He claimed he was cut while walking
in the woods.
•theft by taking at Willoughby Homes where someone
took two bicycles. Another bicycle was also reported stolen
last week on Scott Street.
•suicide threat at the Commerce Water Shed where a
woman cut her arms in a car. EMS was called and she was
transported to the hospital.
•burglary and theft by taking on Maysville Road where
someone stole a lawn mower and nail guns.
•information on North Elm Street where an ATM wouldn’t
release a man’s debit card.
•no insurance and no tag on Hwy. 441. The driver was
cited.
•information on Hwy. 334 where a supermarket employee
found a baggie in a cooler containing an unknown white
substance.
•information at the Commerce Recreation Department
where a 20-year-old man and 16-year-old girl drove from
behind a building. They said they were talking. Officers
spoke with the girl’s grandmother, who said she was sup
posed to be at work. The grandmother agreed to come get
her. Officers warned the 20-year-old man about loitering and
prowling. He was on probation for statutory rape (no force)
and was released from the scene.
•financial transaction card fraud on Highland Estates
where someone made five fraudulent charges using a man’s
information.
•unruly child and missing person on Andy Court where
a three-months’ pregnant 15-year-old girl ran away from
home. She later returned and said she went to meet a
20-year-old man. The two of them previously spoke on
Facebook about cuddling and about the man’s genitalia. He
said he “often cuddles with his friends.”
•criminal trespass on Crestwood Circle where a stranger
knocked on a woman’s door and may have knocked down a
security camera and cut the wire.
•possession of marijuana less than an ounce on Homer
Road where officers stopped a woman for speeding and
found marijuana in the car. A K9 officer later confirmed
the substance was in the vehicle. Officers found marijuana
and a pipe inside a bag and the driver looked “genuinely
surprised.” She said the bag belonged to her daughter. The
bag also contained clothing and other goods (makeup and
hair supplies) that didn’t appear to belong to the driver. They
told the woman to bring her daughter to the police station to
accept the charge. If she didn’t, they said they’d take a war
rant. The daughter never admitted to it. so the driver went to
mm herself in the next day. The officer said he didn’t think
the marijuana belonged to the driver and did not arrest her.
•theft by taking on South Elm Street where a $1,000
deposit was missing at a restaurant.
